i want to study at university of california santa cruz

i will spell folks as folx and use dab rigs. i would watch smash mouth on the beach all night while drinking hazy IPA from one of the 12 new craft breweries with my 15 housemates. i’ll have california burritos and guayaki yerba mates every day that’s worth 15 flexis. i would go to garage kickbacks every night. i am also more likely to meet polyamorous self-identified “fembies”, international students with porsche SUVs, adam scott’s parents and the banana slugs.

FILMAGE:THE STORY OF DESCENDENTS/ALL

全世界をパンクロックの波が浸食していた1978年、カリフォルニアで結成されたハードコアパンクバンドDESCENDENTS(ディセンデンツ)。

その後DAG NASTYのデイヴ・スモーリーをボーカリストに迎え、1987年に結成されたALL(オール)。

現在では当たり前となったポップパンク、メロコア、スケートパンクの元祖として、ただポップなだけでなく変則的で難解な"ひねくれ"要素も特徴的なCRUZIAN POP PUNKというジャンルまで作り上げてしまったカリフォルニアパンクの代表格である。

この２つのバンドの飾らない今の姿と、70年代末の西海岸パンク誕生～80年代のハードコア期～90年代以降のメロコア時代と実に35年以上という途方もない年月を生き抜くその軌跡を辿ったドキュメンタリー映画。

Story time: that bracelet I’ve had since I was a baby. Cruzian bracelet from my hometown. My dad (when he actually cared for a nigga🙄) got it re-sized for me & it broke cause they used weak ass gold so I haven’t worn it for YEARSSS‼️ until I gave it to this demon girl (mama duck) & she got it fixed for me no pressure. Now I never take it off. Bringing my total jewelry count to 3 pieces of real ass gold. Like I can take a shower hop in a pool & it won’t turn. All I need now is another chain & im good 😌 oh yeah & a ring 🙃🙃

Where is the magical place where these horses are? They are all so beautiful. What are the breeds?

An island in the carribean called St.Croix. Its part of the USVI. As for the horses we call them cruzian confusions. They are everything from Arabians to thoroughbreds, and we have allot of Spanish influence. No real solid bloodlines.

I ran into (famous author) Jonathan Franzen at a Beach Fossils/Wavves concert in Santa Cruz a few days ago. (I think he's most famous for getting in a fight with Oprah when she chose one of his books for her book club because he didn't want to be mainstream.)

He accidentally knocked over a rickety table I was sitting at, spilling his beer on the floor. He looked a little embarrassed, and said "I hope I didn't splash beer on your shoes." (He hadn't. )

All in all, he was really nice. Almost disappointing, imagine how much mileage a "famous author was mean to me" story would be worth at certain types of parties

Wealth Inequality

Santa Cruz is California’s second-poorest county. 

Over 15% of Santa Cruzians live below the federal poverty line, but if we account for Santa Cruz’s high cost of living, this number is more like 24%.

Cost of living here is 51% above the national average, which means that many people who live here on a low income are technically above the federal poverty line and therefore do not qualify for most social safety net programs, yet still struggle to get by. 

A study in 2014 found that while the median income here was $66,000/year ($82,000 today), a staggering 73.1% of households lived on incomes either below $50,000 or above $100,000, showing a stark contrast in lifestyle and comfort for residents. It’s easy to imagine how these numbers translate to reality, with the median home price here landing at around a million dollars, it remains well out of reach for the majority of residents.

10:00 昨日の反省を生かし早めに起床。

11:00 姉と叔母とコメダ珈琲にモーニングを食しに行く。店内はGWお構いなしの老人たちでにぎわう中、モーニングBと叔母の熱烈な希望でエビカツサンドを食す。叔母が横浜でオクトーバーフェストやっているよという話題に対し、姉が「9月でもないのにねえ」という支離滅裂なボケをかましたので終始ツッコミ続ける。

13:00 実家に帰宅。野良猫（マロ、チン）が壮絶なにらみ合いを続ける中、実家で餌付けをしている野良猫（チャリ）は塀の上でやれやれと見つめている。

14:30 やることもないので、東京に帰る。

15:00 横浜にて寄り道。ディスクユニオンにてTurncoatの新譜とSnuffy smilesの「Not Superstitious Vol.2」を購入。スナッフィー系のVAのここ最近の値崩れ値崩れっぷりが半端ない。このVAとか前町田のユニオンで5,000円くらいしたとぼんやりと思いだす。その他、Cruzian pop punkやMoving targets、Replacementsなど欲しかったが相変わらずの横浜ユニオンの品ぞろえの薄さに絶望し後にする。

15:30 ジョイナス地下の「カレーハウス リオ」にてカレー&パスタセット。カレーは欧風だがスパイスが効いていて美味。パスタも喫茶店系ナポリタンでおいしかった。

16:00 黒澤楽器にてダダリオ0.95-044を2つ購入。

17:00 東急線で帰宅。新しいイヤホンのイヤーピースをなくす。平成っぽい出来事だなあと思う。SHURE系のスポンジイヤーピースを冷静にポチる。

18:00 家着。ベイスターズハイライトなどを見てだらだらする。

19:00 ストラトに弦を張る。最初に開けたセットに6弦が2本封入。最悪の気分となる。

21:00 ひたすらにALLのLong Distance、Scary Sadをコピーする。Scary Sadのリフが自分で作るリフと握り方が似ていてにやりとする。

22:00 オリジンに飯を買いに行くも、GW休暇とのこと。悪くない気分となる。今日まで実家にいれば、母親がハンバーグを作ってくれると言っていたことを思い出し、松屋にて「ブラウンソースハンバーグ定食」をテイクアウト。物足りなくなると思い、セブンにてパスタサラダを購入。購入直後、松屋の定食にもサラダがついていると気づき、へこむ。

23:00 夕食。腹がパンパンになり、後悔する。
