Today, it's back to Cuba for a boat ride around the Bay Of Gibara. We arrived at the dock in the morning after breakfast expecting a boat like the one in the first picture but after we had waited for a while a tiny boat with an outboard motor showed up and we all had to balance ourselves along a thin and creaky wooden jetty to climb into this boat which had us all scared to death. We figured that that it could capsize at any moment. Never were so many on such a tiny boat! But off we went and I'm happy to say we did not sink or capsize and we lived to show the pictures. Enjoy By the way, I'm currently working on a collection of images from a small medieval town in Tuscany called Lucca where we stayed for a couple of days. I'll have a set ready to post soon. Quelques mots sur Cuba.

Atterris à Cuba avec mon mari, nous avons « baroudés » pendant trois semaines pour découvrir au maximum les merveilles que cache l’île du Ché.

Tous les commentaires que je fais sur notre retour d’expérience est subjectif, à vous donc de prendre les informations qui vous intéresse et de vous faire votre propre expérience. 

 Les Prix

Sachez que les prix affichés sont très souvent négociables. A Cuba tout se négocie, n’hésitez donc pas à faire baisser les prix. Avec mon récit vous aurez une base pour négocier. ;)

Sur place, il y a deux monnaies : le CUP (moneda nacional ou peso cubano) et le CUC (peso cubano convertible). Le CUP est pour les locaux et le CUC pour les touristes.

Vous pouvez facilement échanger vos CUC contre des CUP dans les bureaux de change pour pouvoir acheter à manger dans les marchés ou vous restaurer à l’extérieur et bénéficier de prix beaucoup plus avantageux.

En effet, à Cuba il faut prévoir un budget conséquent car les prix fixés pour les touristes sont assez élevés (toujours moins chers qu’en Europe).

Enfin, le pourboire de 10% pour le service dans les restaurants est souvent directement inclus dans la note.

 Les plats typiques 

-      Pollo asado : poulet braisé servis généralement avec du riz et une salade.

-      Arroz moro : riz blanc avec des haricots rouges.

-      Ropa vieja : viande de porc très finement émincée et bien épicée.

-     Tostones : bananes plantains frites et disposées en forme de petit gâteau garnies de viande ou de thon.

L’eau

L’eau n’est pas potable, le mieux est de se procurer une gourde avec un filtre pour le voyage.

Contrairement au Pérou ou au Mexique, il y a de l’eau froide et chaude dans toutes les villes touristiques que nous avons faites.

 L’hébergement

Le plus bénéfique est de dormir dans les « casas particulares ». Les casas particulares sont les chambres louées par les locaux avec la salle de bain et les toilettes incluses.

Bien souvent, les hôtes proposent de vous préparer le petit déjeuner et parfois mêmes les autres repas de la journée pour un prix attractif. Ils peuvent également organiser pour vous certaines excursions. De plus, cela vous permet de faire la connaissance avec des locaux, ce qui est très sympa !

 Internet

Vous pouvez vous procurez quelques cartes que vous paierez 1 CUC pour 1 heure et qui vous permettront de vous connecter dans les points wifi (souvent dans les places ou parcs publics).

 La Sécurité

Au niveau de la sécurité routière, les cubains roulent avec vigilance et font bien attention aux autres véhicules et aux piétons.

Selon les dires de plusieurs cubains et notre expérience sur place, il n’y a aucune violence et aucune drogue à Cuba. Bien entendu, il faut faire attention à ses effets personnels comme partout !

 La Saison 

Les mois de janvier et février sont les mois les plus fréquentés par les touristes car les européens viennent profiter de la chaleur de Cuba tandis qu’il fait froid dans leur pays.

De plus, c’est l’hiver à Cuba donc il fait bien chaud mais il y a peut-être un peu plus de vent que l’été et cela rend le climat très agréable.

Malgré le fait qu’il y ait beaucoup de touristes, les lieux d’animation ne sont pas surpeuplés et restent très agréables.

 Les cubains 

Les cubains sont métissés et très beaux, c’est agréable de voir tout le monde être mélangé entre les blancs et les noirs. Ce qui n’était apparemment pas le cas il y a une vingtaine d’années où même au sein des classes les plus pauvres, les habitants se battaient à cause de leur couleur de peau.

Voici les différentes villes que nous avons visité au cours de ces trois semaines. Nous n’avions rien programmé en amont, rien réservé, nous avons voyagé au jour le jour.

Currently at Galeria Galiano: FELICES LOS NORMALES, a group show featuring works by Antuán Mena, Jorge Luis Rodríguez, Marco Arturo Herrera, Miriannys Montes de Oca, Yoxi Velázquez, Yohy Suárez y Miroslav de la Torre. 

Roughly translated as "Happy are the normal", the title references a poem by Cuban poet Roberto Fernández Retamar, and dedicated to Antonia Eiriz, a Cuban artist who put her career on hold in 1968 after her painting Una tribuna para la paz democrática (A platform for democratic peace) was heavily criticized, and would only return to exhibit her work in 1991 at a show also hosted by Galeria Galiano. The exhibition will be open until March 7, 2020.
