kevin missed riko like a dying limb. intrinsic to his very being, but killing him all the same. unable to imagine a life without until the without was staring him in the face, throwing him off kilter. off balance. wobbly and unsure like a newborn deer.
learning to live without riko was almost as bad as living with him. it was a tailspin kevin couldn't see himself pulling out of. he dug his own grave a long time ago when he left riko, his partner, his brother, everything he had, behind in the nest.
now he had to lie in it.
and lie in it he did. wallowed, even. waves of guilt and grief so big he feared he'd never see the shore again. tearing at his chest, his throat, his mouth. anything to bring himself back to the surface to gulp at the air of normalcy.
what hurt the most, however, wasn't the grief. it wasn't the endless reminders of what he once had or what could have been. it wasn't even the indifference to his loss he found in others, pitying his currentcondition but refusing to acknowledge what riko truly meant to him.
it was the relief.

Had my last day of training at @goldsgymbellevue today. The place has served me well and I have come a long way over the last three years there thanks to the excellent selection of equipment. . I can only hope that my next gym has a similar selection of tools to build with. In the end, changes are chances for new adventures. From NASA Earth Observatory Image of the Day; January 10, 2018:
Ice on Lake Erie
On January 6, 2018, the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Terra satellite acquired these images of North America’s Great Lakes. The top image shows the winter landscape in natural color, similar to what your eyes would see. The second image shows the same area in false-color, made from a combination of infrared and visible light (MODIS bands 7-2-1), to better differentiate between snow and ice (blue) and clouds (white).
Notice that that clouds are mostly located over the lakes with open water. These lake-effect clouds form when cold air passes over the comparatively warmer lake water, imparting warmth and moisture into the air. Rising thermals ultimately produce long parallel bands of cumulus clouds called cloud streets.
In contrast, fewer clouds appear near Lake Erie. With a large fraction of the lake’s surface capped with ice, the cold northwest winds blowing over the lake are unable to pick up much moisture. Less moisture means less lake-effect snow will be dropped on the lake’s lee side (usually the eastern and southern shore).
When these images were acquired, 84.2 percent of Lake Erie’s surface was covered with ice. The next day, ice coverage jumped to 87 percent followed by a small decline on January 8. You can see a graph of the ice cover here.
Lake Erie is slightly larger than Lake Ontario (the smallest of the five Great Lakes) in terms of surface area. But Erie is relatively shallow and contains less than one-third of the volume of water found in Lake Ontario, so it is generally the first to freeze in winter and the first to thaw in spring. This year, a cold snap that kept temperatures hovering around zero degrees contributed to the rapid growth of ice.

"You have to eat big to get big." Sure... If gaining excess fat counts. 🙄. . A big calorie surplus (aka a "dirty bulk") does not mean extra muscle gain compared with a conservative surplus. Extra surplus just means extra fat gain. If you are in a gaining or mass building phase, it should not be an excuse to eat all the things. Big bulk = more fat = more cutting = more potential muscle loss when getting lean again. . A "lean bulk" is what you should aim for. The goal is to add muscle, but minimize fat gain. Find your sweet spot by slowly adding in calories each week until you are averaging between .25 and .5 lbs gained per week. 👌🏻. . This is the current condition during my off-season while implementing a lean bulk. 6 foot, 193 lbs, and around 12-13% body fat. 👌🏻. Strength is increasing each week with minimal fat gain. . . . . . . . #ketoinglife #currentcondition #offseasongains #leanbulk #leanbulking #gettingstronger #ketogains #ketogenicbodybuilding #ketobodybuilding #selfdiscipline #disciplineyourself #caloriesurplus #fitover40 #bodybuildingtips #fitnessphysique https://www.instagram.com/p/CTFEuVsgO5-/?utm_medium=tumblr

Because of the snow I haven't been to the gym this week. 😐. . Still putting in the work at home, though. You can do a lot with dumbbells, resistance bands, and a pull-up bar. 👍🏻. I simply treated this week like a deload. Mostly higher rep work (15-20), focusing on mind-muscle connection and getting a solid pump. I also worked on re-sensitizing myself to caffeine by cutting it quite a bit this week. . I know I have been more quiet than usual the past couple weeks. I have just been getting settled into a new job and new daily routines. Thngs will get to "normal" again soon. 🤞🏻. .
