Design Archive: Last week, we posted a watercolor by Charles Burchfield framed in our Skaneateles moulding. This design is one of three related profiles named for three of the Finger Lakes, an area that was familiar to one of our designers. The other two profiles are Cayuga and Seneca (to come next). Of course, the size of the profile corresponds to the size of the lake! Skan, as we call it, is the smallest. (1/2) How do you protect a treasure that’s more than 500 million years old? In an archival Bark case. Here, a case we made recently for a client who wanted to display a trilobite fossil. The base is mahogany with a dark stain and wax finish, and the platform is covered in Czech Natural linen on Rising grey mat board. The case itself is acrylic, and will protect the trilobite (or whatever you choose to exhibit) from environmental factors.
