Ian was surprised when their son said he was interested in ROTC. He never showed any real interest before. But Ian thinks maybe seeing his dad in his old school yearbook probably prompted it. “I wanna look like Daddy,” he announces, pointing to the picture of a short haired Ian.

Ian nearly laughs when Mickey realizes nearly all the curls would be gone. “Nope,” Mickey says, rather protectively. “Putting my foot down,” he says. “Chuck Norris will not be partaking. Besides, don’t drastic changes freak him out?”

Ian shakes his head. “Let him try. You can’t shelter him forever, Mick.”

Drabble - "Undeserved Grace"

For the @galladrabbles prompt "comfort" (thank you @mikhailoisbaby), I offer "Undeserved Grace."

Ian was honor-bound to those who didn't deserve his grace. In my head, that included his bio-Dad, Clayton Gallagher. I've always imagined that Ian would show up for his bio-Dad's funeral even after a lifetime of not knowing the man or being a part of his life. That's just who Ian was and Mickey would've understood that I think.

The cavernous yet suffocating room heightens Ian’s unease. 

He flinches through another stranger’s sympathetic embrace, accepting comfort for something he doesn’t feel. He’s an imposter. Clayton Gallagher’s unwanted son feigning heartbreak. 

The touch he needs finally arrives with Mickey’s permission to run. 

“C’mon, Ian. You’ve had enough.”

Inside the quiet of their car, Ian rests his head on Mickey’s shoulder, worried he’s damaged somehow. His numbness is broken by his husband's gentle fingers carding through his hair.

“It’s okay not to cry, baby,” Mickey murmurs. 

Freed, Ian grieves silently. Not for his fatherless state, but for what could have been.

I’m back with more brain rot but I was thinking about GallavichDads today and while I could basically write a fic about Yev coming back into their lives, I also love the comedic potential of them winding up with a BUNCH of kids in true Shameless fashion like imagine-

Ian goes on a trip somewhere without Mickey (visiting Fiona? Helping Lip move? Going to pick Debbie and Franny up in Texas? Who knows) and while he’s gone suddenly word’s gotten around to the rest of the Milkoviches that Mickey and his husband are looking for a kid (I’m gonna either say Sandy does it or Mickey’s relative that’s platonically married to another dude bc I need to see Ian’s face when Mickey explains why Terry was ok with that but not them, the scrunch would be in full force) ANYWAYS

Ian gets back and Mick meets him at the door with a squealing baby, just shoves it in his arms because there’s a toddler trying to climb the counter and a couple of five year olds running laps around the tv and Mickey stomps off “to take a piss in peace for five fucking minutes!” bc suddenly every neglected Milkovich has been left on their doorstep and Mickey’s been dealing with it for two days straight. Who’s are they? Colin’s maybe, and Tony’s, and the little one looks like Joey but whoever left it just knocked on the door and ran “like a fucking coward!”

((Does this tie-in with them running the Alibi? Maybe! Do they wind up buying the Gallaghers house from Lip since they can’t have four kids under age six in a one bedroom apartment? Also maybe!)

I just love the idea of them going from ‘maybe one baby’ to ‘the goddamn Brady bunch’ in zero seconds, purely for the comedy. 🦖

Wait why do I love this??? (I'm not so secretly not a galladads truther) but I find it so them to just take in people that would otherwise have to grow up with Mickey's crazy family. Kinda giving Mandy saving Molly vibes.

How is Yevgeny fitting in all of this? Is he also under the gallagher-milkovich house of kids? Is he helping them take care of the kids? Do Yevgeny and Liam become friends (they should be around the same age, right? or like 2 years apart?)
