Jurassic Park is not only a huge staple in Dinosaur Movies but it also helped advance the base knowledge of dinosaurs during that time. Spielberg wanted to not only have cool looking dinosaurs, he wanted realistic dinosaurs. Dinosaurs that actually were as authentic as possible. He hired a crew of palentologists as consultants to use their multi-million movie budget to make 3d models about how the dinosaurs would look, walk, move, etc. More information about dinosaurs that wasn't taken. Also, Spielberg wanted to have big Velociraptors to be dangerous and threatening for the movie. But there were no dinosaurs like that in existance.....until a dig managed to discover the Utahraptor and suddenly our DInosaurs stars were there. By now the science is pretty outdated or flawed but that's what science is for, to eventually be outdated and flawed. That's the important part. Therefore this is not superfluously dinosaur movie because it has weight and importance in dinosaur research
