okay i just had the most insane flashback to when i was 14. i had saved money for three months mowing lawns and babysitting and bought these light up sneakers to impress this girl i had a crush on because she was into the light up shoe dancing. big reveal- i did in fact learn to do all the dances and we went out for like 4 months. tragic ending- i stepped in a puddle of water and my shit broke

The sad reality for me is that uma musume shows/movies can throw as many frames/speedlines/effects/whatever, into the races but it'll never change how unfortunately uninteresting the races actually are.

dance academy s2 is so goated every new character introduction is so inspired. grace is a beautiful princess with like ten disorders. saskia is just straight up evil. ben is homophobic for one whole episode before baking rainbow cupcakes because he thinks his new friends (who do not like him) are in gay love (they're not)

So I just watched the Japanese B-girl Ami win the gold medal in Breaking and I know next to nothing about the sport but now I want to know more. I already think everything they do on that stage is wildly impressive but I know that it is even more so when you actually have knowledge about how hard they train and about why moves are complex and hard to pull off.
But the thing is that when it comes to sport I can't just look at the videos that have someone explain it to me or something like that, it gets too boring too quickly. I have learned that I've got the most fun when I learn about sport through Anime/Manga, when I get to know characters closely and just get to absorb and share their passion. And since I've only ever seen sports anime/mangas about boys I desperately want one about B-girls now!!! (And please make it gay)

Now that I'm watching men's Olympic gymnastics, I feel completely validated in saying that the outfits the woman gymnasts presumably have to wear are ridiculous

It's odd. I think western groups don't have fandoms like they used to. When I think about how deep people were into Britney Spears and her peers, you don't see that behaviour in the West anymore in a widespread way. People are into people but not like that. Beyonce and Taylor Swift being an outlier and Lady Gaga at her prime. You literally have to be a Beyonce to have the level of fanaticism that kpop groups get for singing in harmony.
This is why we need more girl sports groups lol. These girls want intensity, teamwork and getting behind something hard and where is that ?? Kpoppies are our future Olympians but their obsessiveness isn't being challenged properly
I'm absolutely serious that these girls would be amazing at sports. They're crying out of community and blood. The draw to kpop is community because none of them are slightly talented and a socially accepted way to be obsessive, intense in a structured way. Which is exactly what sports is. In this essay I will...
