I don’t know how many of you Shinsengumi fans out there have heard of this manga called Dandara Gohan, but I just found it today and it has already made me feel feels and hunger at the same time 😂😂😂

The story so far revolves around food, Saito and Souji’s friendship, food, Saito getting confused, intimidated, annoyed and touched all at once by the people at the Shieikan, more food, and is set just before the Roshigumi heads to Kyoto.

It has two volumes so far, and I’ve only just finished reading the first volume and I’m still not sure how historically accurate or inaccurate it’s going to be, but I’m gonna just go ahead and recommend it to all Shinsengumi fans - get a load of that baby Souji, apologetic (and young!) Kondo, and cheeky Hijikata! 😍😍😍

Dandara Gohan (だんだらごはん)

The sweet yet tragic lives of the newly formed Shinsengumi and the delicious meals its members share.

Okita and Saito are the protagonists.

It’s an adorable manga by Tonogaya Miyuki about the Shinsengumi and Edo period food. It’s published (for now) on pixiv comic (here) for free! It updates the second Friday of every month. The first volume has recently been published, too. You can find the author’s twitter here.

Summary: The Shinsengumi, the ones who dashed through the Bakumatsu era. ‘Meals’ were what supported their efforts from behind the scenes. This is a delicious, youthful story of the Shinsengumi depicted through ‘food’!

its a very cute manga im glad u’ve gotten an interest in it!! iirc theres no scanalations atm but you can read the official raws here on pixiv but chapters get deleted after a while, theres also this kind tumblr who is translating the chapters (but not scanning them)
