Let it be known that I fucking hate Vvulf. Had him come a-knocking at my Hamlet earlier than I remember him EVER showing up, and wound up deleting my file out of frustration after two shitty attempts at defeating him. (Reminder to myself to upload GOOD Darkest Dungeon files to the Cloud in case stuff like this happens.)

Turns out I actually had the right idea adding a Man-at-Arms to the party. I just never knew you could Guard against the bombs. :| Not that it really mattered because my Flagellant, while Rapturous, would cast the regen spell on people before the bomb went off and that somehow kept everyone alive. And he, himself, provided some amusement because of his Death Blow resistance. So he kept surviving every explosion for around 10 rounds until a blast finally did him in. (THEY KILLED AZOR! MY BOI!!! 😭 )

So yeah... Kinda in a bad mood at the moment. But I have learned from my mistakes and will, hopefully, manage to run a good campaign again in the future. Because the newest ones I tried to start all suck.

I do want to draw more HCs but have been playing Kenshi lately (it reminds me so much of old Fallout!!) 🥲

But! Will decide to sort of briefly write it here, it's about Dismas before the events of Darkest Dungeon 1.

15 years ago he rose up to become a bandit chief around the area, the Gutter Rats as the thieves call it. Thing is, that was Vvulf and his Wolves' turf too, and there was a gang war.

Funniest thing is that the D-man never carried about the power or influence but rogues flocked to him because he was just too damn good at robbing and killing.

Also in that 5 years of gang war (before a delicate balance of peace was achieved) Dismas kind of like, showed a bizarre talent for tactical strategy, it's the main reason how the Gutter Rats kept alive so long with the smaller size of influence they control

It did carry over to how he manages the Hamlet and their civilians and heroes, just one of the strange skills Reynauld notices he has

DD2 Kingdom prediction(rambling

so from what we know so far about the lore of that game mode is that it takes place after your confession and not only are you keeping YOUR corruption at bay(main confession content), the corruptions of the Hamlet are also spreading(CC and weald areas) ((also beastmen which might be caused by Abom))

personal theories/prediction

yeah yeah i know DD2 isnt meant to be directly connected to DD1 or whatever but its my interpretation and im gonna interpret!!

i think DD2 might be a reality where The Ancestor doesnt send out the letter to the Heir or maybe the reality where the Heir dies/isnt able to help purge the evils of the hamlet. i think the two factions in DD1 that WOULD spread in the Heir's absence would be the weald and the crimson court, AND THE PIGS. this could explain why the caretaker is in the kingdom, he was essentially kicked out of the hamlet.

the crimson court was already spreading and it was high time that someone tries to open it up or just that they escape naturally.

the weald is basically just like, a mold spreading, and probably the largest area in DD1 already.

honestly the pigs are probably in the Kingdom bc all the treasure in the hamlet and they became more coveting, also explaining why Wilbur is so fucking big in DD2. he had to fight off all the other guys in the hamlet (CC and weald would probably give them the most trouble) and he cant rely on swine prince bc hes essentially bound to where he is.

i think the Shroud COULD be the same guys as the cove. both have the idea of regular guys turning into fishmen and having a god.

ALSO LEVIATHAN JUST LOOKS LIKE A GIANT ROIDED OUT PELAGIC GROUPER

but i dont think its the same guys, but i think there can be an argument for. because the cove guys didnt have to deal with the heros in DD, they could create the leviathan and spread via the sea.

i do not think the ruins guys have ANY reason to leave the ruins. the bone rabble can appear in any region, but other than that i dont see them doing other than reviving the dead. then again, that new area in the Inhuman bondage DLC kinda looks Ruins inspired but like, with slime. this could because the Weald's increased spread, but we dont really know the source of the slime rn

what about the brigands?? says the number one vvulf fan. honestly i dont think they are nearly strong enough to take on CC and the weald so they were probably wiped off the face of the map. but maybe the pillagers ARE the brigands, but reformed by the antiquarian. perhaps vvulf died trying to take the hamlet for himself(like what he does in DD1). and if they still do exist in the hamlet, its probably bc of the antiquarian before things got REALLY bad over there. after all she has no reason to go to the kingdom bc theres far more loot in the estate, but when things got too dicey she figured the kingdom was a far easier target

the reason why i dont think the pillagers are unrelated to the brigands is because of The Implication still has the family crests of the ancestor. and who would know the DIRECT quote of the ancestor than antiquarian?

now time for the main event. the farmstead. i feel like Farmstead is like the second most likely DD1 area to be released for the kingdom DLC 2/3 itll be a missed opportunity to not reuse em. the gate to the farmstead is weakening, and there HAVE been people who have gone

i think the farmstead probably is the only non darkest dungeon(location) location to be able to over power CC and Weald. not because the enemies are particularly strong, but because the shear number of them(although i dont think they can infect NEW people, but only people in the initial crash site)((i guess Thing From The Stars was starting to bind with a bunch of dead things, so maybe it just needs time)

time for the man of the hour. the Darkest Dungeon(location) or the thing under the manor(i always call it the heart but i think that just refers to the core of the thing, after all The Ancestor calls it nameless in the first dungeon mission) my prediction, if redhook is cool, then i believe that the heart would be the final Kingdom location added. and yea, the Thing would probably be the be the most infectious out of all of them.

Excluding the Darkest Dungeon and the DLC areas, the boss that is the greatest foil to the Heir is hands down Brigand Vvulf: - Instead of rebuilding and reclaming the Hamlet, he tries to take something that is not his and destroy it. - While the Heir works from the shadows and orchestrates the missions, Vvulf jumps head first into action alongside his men. - Similarly, Vvulf guards every single one of the bandits on his fight. The Heir, on the other side, is an awful boss who, without qualms, sends their mercenaries on missions with minimal preparation, sends them to stressful situations, sees them suffering from illness and does nothing about it or perhaps even actively tries to get them sick, or even hires newbies with the sole intention of sending them to their death. - The similarities expand to their mercenaries (workers? we don't know why these people are with Vvulf). The Heir's mercenaries come to the Hamlet thinking that they've hit rock bottom and hoping to win something, be it fame, catharsis, money, redemption etc, or at the very least a noble death. The brigands know damn well that they've taken the low road and have no regrets or hallucinations about it, or else they wouldn't agree to join the raid.
