It’s Day 208 of the Windy Wessagusset Wimple of 2024. The wind was out of the north at 9mph with gusts to 15mph at 10am. The temperature was 73°, and felt like it was 68°. I used the Cherry Red color of Red Heart Super Saver yarn to show the wind was out of the north. I worked my knitting in garter stitch since the wind was blowing at 9mph. It was a sunny day in Wessagusset, and it was comfortable with low humidity making it a very pleasant day. I got a knitting emergency phone call from our neighbor. She had a problem with her knitting and needed help. I never knew she knit! The yarn was fuzzy, so it was hard to separate, and it became difficult to work with. I finally said I thought we had to rip it back. She was fine with that, so I ripped it back, and reset it on the needles so she’s good to go, but I’m sorry I couldn’t fix it. It was one of my few failures in decades of knitting. It was a lovely afternoon visit, though, which I’m very happy about having. Be safe out there.

Gabe is definitely the tiniest horse I’ve ever been around! He was born shortly after I started going to this ranch. He was very much the 2-8 year old boy in nature. Mama, his mama, was very patient with him but also good at moving him off to pester others! He was good at distracting me from sinking too far into a feeling.

DAY 208: CROSS-FI-YUHHHH

So, we’ve been presenting some creative for a hospital lately. And the hospital’s agency of record has a name that’s REALLY close to the name of this game from the 80′s:

And now “CROSS-FI-YUHHHHH” is stuck in my head. But I don’t regret that. Hell, the slappy synth bass alone on this thing makes me INCREDIBLY happy. 

I essentially regret that I never owned this game as a kid.

A friend of mine did. I think we played it about 5 times during our entire friendship. And I sort of regret that we didn’t play it more. 

But like a lot of games that you don’t own, YOUR excitement is basically a boner-killer for the person who does own it. For instance, I used to sleep over at another friend’s place. A pair of brothers, who’d just gotten THIS the previous Xmas.

The entire weekend I was over, I’d pop out of bed around 4:30 am & play TimePilot. 

So fucking cool.

Well, eventually their mom got pissed that I was waking people up with all the noise, having just discovered after about 6 hours of playing the Smurf game that it was fucking horrible/unbeatable.

Well, it was that AND the fact that I was equally addicted to THIS piece of shit show for reasons that had NOTHING to do with Plastic Man:

I also regret that I didn’t know that this obsessive game actually had a predecessor.

But mostly I regret that even if I WANTED to play Crossfire today, I couldn’t afford to do so.
