Tonight House Republicans voted 217 to 215 for a budget that'll take $1 TRILLION dollars from Medicaid, attack food benefits for kids, hurt seniors and vets.

but I don't want to talk about that, I want to talk about these two Democratic members of Congress you've never ever heard of.

Democrats, Congressman Kevin Mullin of California and Congresswoman Brittany Pettersen of Colorado.

Congressman Mullin had knee surgery that didn't go well, two surgeries, a life threatening blood clot and a week long stay in the hospital, and the moment he was discharged from the hospital he got on a five hour flight to DC to vote against the Republicans evil budget, using a walker to get to the floor of the House

Congresswoman Pettersen gave birth to her son Sam, in the picture, exactly one month ago on January 25th. They flew from Colorado to DC after Republicans refused to allow her to vote by proxy after having a baby. Congresswoman Pettersen took Sam onto the floor of the House to vote to protect the Health care of 400,000 Colorado kids.

why talk about this? because so much of the conversion is about telling people there's no one good, no one worthy, no one fighting. I promise you there are people undergoing personal hardship to do the right thing.

It’s Day 42 of the Wessagussett Wind/Humidity Wrap 2025. The wind was out of the WSW at 9mph with gusts to 15mph. The humidity was 72%. I used the Baby Pink today color of Red Heart Super Saver yarn to show the humidity 72%. I knit the PATTERN: K 4 rows to show the wind was blowing at 9mph. It was another cloudy day in Wessagusset with a high temperature of only 32°. Winter is still here. I finished reading “Up On the Woof Top”. A book Michael gave me by Spencer Quinn. It was alright, but I never really got used to it being told by a dog. I’m glad I finished it, and I began the latest book by James Rebanks. I loved his previous books, and found them very enjoyable to read. I ordered a book by Helen Rebanks today (his wife), and I look forward to reading that. I am trying to get back to reading more again, and good books really help. Be safe out there.

Day 42 of 2025: The Answer to Life, the Universe, and Why My Coffee is Still Cold ☕🌌

So, here we are. Day 42. According to certain interstellar trivia, this is the day we’ve been waiting for—the day the universe finally coughs up the meaning of everything. But instead of a glowing supercomputer handing me a scroll of cosmic truths, I’m staring at my third Zoom meeting of the morning, wondering why my coffee won’t stay hot for more than 30 seconds.

The universe, probably: “42? Oh, right, that. Yeah, the answer is… gestures vaguely at your to-do list, the laundry pile, and the fact that autocorrect still thinks ‘duck’ is what you meant to type.”

Current vibes:

- The existential dread of realizing you’re halfway through a 100-day project but only 17% done.

- The 2025 aesthetic of wearing mismatched socks because “future you” forgot to do laundry.

- Rewatching Hitchhiker’s Guide for the 42nd time to see if you missed any clues (you didn’t).

- The slow acceptance that maybe the meaning of life is just… vibing through the chaos?

Today’s agenda:

1. Pretend you’re a sentient AI contemplating existence.

2. Forget your password. Existentially panic.

3. Text a friend: “If 42 is the answer, what was the question???” (They reply: “Why is my plant dead.” Valid.)

Pro tip: If the universe won’t give you answers, make your own. Today’s meaning? Survive the inbox. Pet a dog. Reheat the coffee. Repeat.

It’s Day 42 of the Windy Wessagusset Wimple of 2024. The wind was out of the west at the 9mph at 11am. The temperature was 46° and it felt like 40°. I used the Gold color of Red Heart Super Saver yarn to indicate the wind was out of the west. I worked my stitches in garter stitch to show the wind speed was between 0 and 9mph. Super Bowl Sunday was a very long day. Kansas City won at the last moment in overtime. The snowstorm on Tuesday is still looming large. Looks more and more like there’s no escaping it. Be safe out there.
