Aztán szólt a főkönyvelő, hogy ő most őszintén megmondja, kellene nekik ez a program Windows alá is, és bevallja, hogy pont ilyet hiába keresett a neten, nem talált. Ugyanis ez nem egy egyszerű raktárnyilvántartás, hanem főkönyvi szemléletű készletnyilvántartás, amiben anyagokat, egyéb anyagokat (munkaruhákat, szerszámokat, stb.) lehet nyilvántartani, és a raktári mozgást könyveli főkönyvi tartozik-követel számlapárokra, meg a dolgozón, munkahelyen, munkaszámon nyilvántartja, hogy egy-egy munkahelyen mennyi homokot, téglát, faszom tudja mit építettek be, meg a melóson mennyi harapófogó van, stb. Na, fogtam a C++-t, és komplettem leprogramoztam a dBase adatbáziskezelő minden funkcióját egy osztályba. Rekord felvétele, módosítása, törlése, Pack, Zap, lock, unlock, indexállomány kezelés, szóval programoztam egy komplett adatbáziskezelőt.

Szoptam vele rendesen, de gyors lett, az biztos, mint a picsa. Egy alsókategóriás gépen ötezer rekordból álló index újraépítésnél rányomok a gombra, hogy kezdje, és abban a pillanatban pittyen, hogy kész. Gyakorlatilag egy másodperc alatt, amire a Clipperben vártam fél percet. Aztán programoztam hozzá saját EDIT-ablakkezelő osztályt, ami paramétertől függően kezeli, hogy milyen adat adható meg benne, dátum, idő, betű, szám (x tizedessel) és milyen hosszban fogadjon el karaktereket.

Aztán programoztam hozzá egy állománykezelő osztályt, így nem kell minden törzsállománynak megírni a saját ablakkezelőjét, hanem ez a felparaméterezés után mindent megcsinál az állománnyal kapcsolatban, bekéri az adatokat, módosítja, törli, bármelyik mező szerint rendezi, keres az állományban, nyomtat belőle, és az állományok együttműködve más állományokkal (ha nyitva van az ablakuk), adatokat adhatnak át egymásnak.

Aztán programoztam egy saját nyomtatás osztályt, ami mindent elvégez, ami nyomtatás, nyomtatandó kezdő-végző lap megadása, intervallumok közötti nyomtatás, kiválaszthatod, hogy nyomtatóra, képernyőre, fájlba nyomtasson, az állomány melyik mezői kerüljenek nyomtatásra, legyen-e összegsor, stb, szóval tud mindent, ami állománynyomtatás.

My brother in law recently became a veterinarian and it has really driven the point home as to how fucking bonkers veterinary medicine is. We don't expect human physicians to really know much outside of their own specialty - a dentist, an otolaryngologist, and a maxillofacial surgeon are three totally different dudes. Meanwhile a veterinarian at a wildlife rehab center is doing orthopedic surgery on a hawk and then doing rounds on baby hedgehogs in the hedgehog NICU and administering antibiotics to a ratsnake. And he also knows how to perform surgical interventions on a cow! What the fuck! Those are all totally, wildly different kinds of animal!!

All I can say is DejaVu. I went through this exact thing when it was # ceo Denis Fontana sold us to Advance Auto Parts for the alleged Good of the company. Is how they painted the picture, created severance packages and buyouts for stock owners. I had invested 11 years about 7 on the HelpDesk and 3 years in my store of Memorial Blvd in Lakeland FL. My position consisted of remote assistance and management of 700+ stores through an agreement or IBM using a technology called Netfinity we used a dedicated FrameRelay semi expensive twisted pairs by Verizon on each site databases ran on the AS400 Dbase IV along a team of programers writing and adjusting code all day long. Anyhow when word came down, we started zapping stores faster and faster with less support during the conversion of renames rerouted and changing ownership to the deeds. Our numbers were dropping faster each night until the final store switched over we were no longer needed and said our goodbyes. Some of my team went into other ventures, some stayed with paycuts as lower management needed others like myself just were let go.. I didn't have 401K or stock because I had not reached eligibility for some unknown reason therefore my severance was less than a week paycheck. Took nearly a decade before the tables would turn and yet here we are again acting like this is new. No, just the picture but same story.
