i really don't care about the beatles... i used to when i was like 13 to 15 but i think a lot of that had to do with how a lot of artists i loved really appreciated them so i felt obligated to get to know their music and understand their influence. which is something i can appreciate, and i still love some of their songs, but overall they kind of get on my nerves lol anyway at some point i scratched some words from across the universe on my bedroom wall (not even so much because of the beatles but because of fiona apple's cover) and i also had a poster of sgt pepper's, and when my parents were selling the apartment i heard that the girl who was moving in was a huge beatles fan and asked if she could keep the poster and said she loved the lyrics on the wall. that was so sweet.

It's ridiculous how some fans are so afraid of Noel's songs being about Liam. And it doesn't even have to refer to incest, just the fact that he writes emotional songs about Liam seems to scare them. There are people who refuse to think that Dead in the Water is about Liam. The mental gymnastics they do to convince themselves that something isn't about Liam is insane. I wonder if Noel likes to play with fire when it comes to his lyrics since he knows the mainstream will never say a thing?

I’m 100% sure of that, Noel is seen as a regular white rich straight man by 90% of the humankind, and he takes advantage on that. The same thing happens to John Lennon. Once I saw a man saying DITW was about Sara and I asked him, “What about the ‘gonna take you out when I get some money’? How would you explain that if Noel was already a multimillionaire when he met her?”

I never got an answer from him :)

in absence of a reunion noel interview i'm going back to revisit the great gallagher thaw of late 2014/early 2015 to try to make some sense outta these strange reunion times we are in now.

i've been really curious about this time period for awhile and stockpiling posts with the intention of assembling them in some kind of chronological order. still not quite sure what i'm looking at but it's a bit like find the edge pieces of a puzzle and snapping them together for a frame. you can get a vague idea while understanding much of the pieces are missing to complete the picture. most notably noel is giving interviews at this time while liam is mostly out of the public eye entirely.

assembled them in the queue and looking at them in order now and getting a bit choked up by what we have. even factoring in the normal album press cycle, noel's interviews have noticeable outlier moments during this time. charting his uncharacteristically relaxed calm fondness to emotionally raw moments when mentioning liam, it does look like any attempt at a truce all goes south within a months time (mid february to mid march 2015). coincidence it’s when dead in the water is written and the chasing yesterday is released? of course it’s not lost on me it also is at a period of nostalgia with the 20th anniversaries of their first two albums and part of the buzz about a reunion driven by stone roses reunion. but in the course of the entire feud it sticks out as different. and suggests noel was more invested in a reconciliation than he’d ever be willing to admit.

Noel singing Dead In The Water at South Facing Festival last night. Sorry about the swaying motion, it's really hard to film and be still when you're packed in tight amongst the jostling crowd, plus I have an old phone that doesn't cope well with too much movement.

Anyway, he sung this beautifully. It was my favourite of the night. I wish I'd managed to capture the part where he stopped and allowed the crowd to sing the chorus alone, was truly special. He did that quite a bit as the crowd was in fine form, singing along to every single song - even the new ones!

So obviously, the second half of this question sparked many thoughts! Provided Pero exists in a modern AU, what music would he even like? I'm thinking rock, obviously. He seems like the kind of guy who would go to a rock concert, stand at the back with a beer and nod along. He'll join you in the mosh pit and make sure no one jumps anywhere near you by standing behind you and scowling at anyone who gets too close. If you get him drunk enough he'll start swaying worryingly from side to side, he might even raise a fist. If he puts both fists in the air it's time to take him home, he's about to pass out.

I'm think he was heavily into Soda Stereo, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains etc in the 90's and kinda stuck in the alternative rock, grunge field, sprinkled with some singer/songwriter stuff. So based on that, this is the mellow, soak in the tub, getting a nice massage, maybe drinking a whiskey play list for Pero:
