Double-D Crossed
Agent 063 was being sent on an unusual undercover mission. He was tasked with a seemingly impossible task - infiltrate Gloria Kitty's secret ring of all-female followers and acquire her mind-altering technology.
Luckily "L" and her girls in the lab had some tools for him. They turned Agent 063 into a bombshell just waiting to blow up Miss Kitty's operation. He had radio earrings in his ears for communication; bullet proof blonde hair to cover his pretty face; 'knockout' bags on his chest that could emit a knockout gas.
With nails as tough as him and pistol heels on his feet, 'Devora DeBox' was ready for her mission. What the secret slut didn't know was the L had installed another device. An implant provided by Gloria herself intended to activate upon entering her lair.
Agent 063 had no idea that he was strutting straight into a trap. Double crossed into permanent DD breasts. Soon Agent 063 would be complete replaced by Devora and become a brainless bimbo doll. A new obedient follower eager to worship L and Gloria on her knees.

I've mostly avoided Mermaze due to the impracticality of a doll that can't sit and none of the dolls really resonating with me. However, turns out a toy shop in the UK known as The Entertainer got stock of a mostly cancelled wave of Mermaze dolls in. I actually picked up a set for my friend Garrett Sander, and after deboxing them all to send his way, I was really enamoured by Zuna's doll because of her Alien theming, her fashion style and I'm just a sucker for pink and orange hair.
Of course I couldn't stand her tail because I personally like naturalistic/organic style mermaid tails, so I dug around for other body donors.
I personally didn't like the Mermaze head on other bodies so I opted to keep the original torso in lieu of finding legs instead. I've tried several G3 MH lower torsos buit none of the proportions felt right to me because of how imposing the original Mermaze proportions were.
In the end, I settled on DC Superhero Girl legs, Wonder Woman specifically, and while the DCSHG torso didn't fit into the Mermaze bust, I did my usual method of cutting straight across both parts and lining them up at the panty line.
After melting the edges with acetone and sticking them together I'm pretty chuffed at how she turned out.

Inners and Serenity
My Inner Senshi Styledolls arrived last week, and I actually deboxed them for once!!
Jupiter and Mercury are DEFINITELY my favorites, which is no surprise because they're usually my favorite Inners of the vintage Bandai JP lines too lol
Jupiter's hair needed a lot of work (had to layer her ponytail to blend in the stupid short tendril they cut at the top) but Mercury only needed a slight trim to even things out!
Mars is third favorite! Her hair is a little too short imo but looks mostly correct and only needed some flat ironing to curl the ends more consistently. I don't love the way they added crimps to her bangs but it doesn't look horrible and it is pretty accurate to her design, I'm just really annoying about doll hair being as organized as possible lol
Venus is definitely my least favorite; her hair is like half an inch shorter than Mars and her half-up style is severely over-engineered in a way that is incredibly confusing to me- she has an entire thatched parting under the half-up ponytail that stretches horizontally across the back of her head, and the ponytail can't lay flat as a result so it looks really wonky fresh from the box. I had to brush out the parting and redo the entire style to get it to lay somewhat correctly, but it's still too short and I hate her bangs lol
Aside from Jupiter, none of the Inners have a lot of gel in their hair- maybe a tiny bit on the bangs, but otherwise it is incredibly soft and smooth nylon!
Overall a really excellent set of dolls! They won't be dethroning the vintage dolls for me, but they're well made and very nice to handle. Much looking forward to the Outers whenever they get made, and hopefully Eternal Sailor Moon and Sailor Cosmos!
While I was at it, I also deboxed and restyled my Princess Serenity that I got months ago! I have been hesitant to debox my Styledolls because it was an absolute nightmare trying to iron out the factory kinks left behind by the heinous amount of elastics in SSM's hair, but I decided to test fate and Serenity turned out to be much easier to style.
From this:
To this!
I absolutely hate the way Bandai has done her hair so far, but I've been collecting SM dolls long enough to have figured out a relatively low effort way to get mostly-accurate Usagi hair that satisfies my personal vision for how her hair should look on a doll lol
Still, Usagi is a lot luckier than Chibiusa when it comes to factory hair:
Her odango are literally just....spikes they cut into her hair. Probably the worst attempt at Chibiusa hair I have ever seen, and I will likely never debox her as a result (unless I decide to spring for a reroot lol).

Ah, there's nothing better than starting the day by making a list of things to-do that I'll inevitably not get done.
Except I have to wash and style Sonja's (one of my Barbies) hair. I impulsively combed out her curls last night and now Sis is IN NEED of me to finish what I was doing.
Is it just me or is she looking at me like
😱😂 So, I shall give Sonja what will hopefully be a bit of a glow-up from the atrocity that I did to her hair last night. (I know I shouldn't have combed out the curls dry, I didn't intend to but I deboxed her and was just kinda finger combing her curls and the next thing I knew... madness had occurred. 😶😉 Now, if I'd been GOING for that look, it would've been super rad but as that, no, I wasn't... Yeah, I was in the wrong on this one. So sorry, Sonja. Please forgive me for hair-styling without a clue license. 🥺)
Anyway, wish me and Sonja luck! 🤞😣🤞💖
PS - If Sonja looks familiar, you may have seen this previous post...
Riz with bonus Kai! 😉
And no, Sonja is not Riz. I got her twin sister 😉 on sale with the intention of changing her hair. I love the original style but I've also seen some cool restyles and wanted to try. I, um, need to TRY BETTER next time. Hopefully a lovely "after" pic to follow soon! 🤞😣🤞💖

My First Barbie
I have an actual review! I haven’t done one of those in some time.
This would have been done months ago but the delivery date on the ones I’d ordered kept being pushed back and back and I finally cancelled the one that I was able to cancel and went and bought the doll in person at Target instead.
My First Barbie costs about $20 everywhere, including Amazon: https://amzn.to/3xTsDVR
Amazon, however, apparently sold dolls they didn’t have and have kept pushing delivery dates back while stores like Walmart and Target have had these on the shelves the whole time.
I had hoped she’d be easy to remove from the packaging but she was pretty average. Some snips here, some tears and rips there (bubbles glued to the backing), 6 plastic tabs in the back of her head...
Why...
And she was free.
She does have some prominent seams on one arm and those little injection points that are common to soft-bodied dolls.
After having handled her a bit I think that she is not a skinny skeleton under a thick layer of vinyl like the 90′s click leg Barbies were, but instead a shell with a thin layer of vinyl over top.
@queenofsquids compared the feel of her “skin” to that of a fresh yet greasy pink eraser and I can’t think of any better way to put it.
She does feel greasy.
Her face isn’t particularly spotty. It does look like it was printed in dots, but they’re close together and looks pretty good.
She had a chunk of plastic in her hair, and it was both sparsely rooted and distressingly oily.
When I washed her hair it suddenly felt horrible. It’s very grippy and I couldn’t get my fingers through it. It also curled up funky in on spot where the hair is cut short.
A boil dunk did help.
Right now I’m waiting for it to dry again so I can see how it feels dry after being washed and then I’ll see about conditioning it.
EDIT: I feels alright after drying, though still feels a bit oily. Might be Saran.
I can’t tell what fiber it is, all I can tell is that it feels very bad. It behaves like polypropylene in that it gets messy very easily with minimal touching, but it’s glossier than I’m used to poly being.
First brushing with the provided brush resulted in a little bit of hair loss. This is normal.
For me, so far, the feel of the “skin” and the hair were both sensory nightmares.
Luckily, I was warned.
I did eventually get fed up with the greasiness and washed her hair AND body. Her body feels nicer after being washed, and her hair felt oh so much worse, as I mentioned above.
Her articulation is ok, but not great. Her shoulders can move in and out and spin all around, and her head can turn but not look up nor down.
Knees don’t bend far, and neither do her elbows. Being a shell with a thin layer of vinyl would explain why her elbows and knees look so nice when bent.
She was already showing white stress lines in her joints when I deboxed her.
I didn’t see if she could do the splits because it didn’t cross my mind. I’m more concerned with how well a doll can sit.
She sits very well. Back straight and knees a bit apart or together. My doll is a little off-balance and warped, however, and tends to lean.
As others have mentioned, she’s rather hefty.
She was relatively easy to undress despite her skin being a bit grabby, because the dress is very loosely fit throughout including the shoulder straps. For whatever reason there was cardboard under her dress.
Since Mattel claims this doll is easy to dress, I also ordered an outfit that I felt would put that to the test: A swimsuit.
Available here on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3XY0yre
What’s the hardest thing to get on an old click-leg Barbie? Pants, tights/hose, and swimsuits.
It was ALMOST easy to remove until I discovered three of those tiny plastic tabs. I hate these things SO much.
Getting the swimsuit on wasn’t too difficult up until I got to her upper thigh, then I had to work a bit to get it the rest of the way on.
I also snagged it immediately with it’s own Velcro-like closure. I can see that frustrating kids... It frustrated me as a kid.
Her default booties were kind of difficult to get on her feet because her ankles and heels are a bit soft, but the sandals from the swimsuit pack were very easy to put on (I forgot to take a photo...). The sandals also stay on well. I did give her a good shake.
Her glasses can also survive a shake, but not the hat. The hat is a bit too small for her head.
The fit of the swimsuit is shapeless and boxy, and that’s alright. It does make it easier to get on and off and is still rather cute.
Perfect fit for G3 Monster High Lagoona, though. Her earrings are..... Somewhere around here.
Sooooooo in the name of science, and because it came up not too long ago, I gave her foot a gentle chomp to see what happened.
It’s a softer, bouncier texture than 90′s click legs, and there is no bitterant applied. I think it’s too soft to really encourage chewing, but I don’t think it would stop a child that was inclined to chew a doll’s feet, either.
A gentle chew did mark her foot easily, however, and a boiling didn’t undo the damage.
(That piece of her right foot was already missing.)
All in all, despite the sensory unhappiness brought on by the texture of her hair and skin, I rather like her.
As others had said, it may well be because the size she is now in my hands as an adult is similar to the size Barbie seemed then, when I was a child and it’s hitting a bit of nostalgia that I didn’t know was missing.

Survived another filling - June 27, 2024
Just one filling today, and it was much smaller than May's dental work. Had my teddy bear, who was very good to hold. Spoke up to the dentist when I thought they were being patronizing, and they were cool.
Went to Walmart afterwards, where I saw these mugs. Jesus one was silly, but the celestial one was really pretty.
Got a couple dolls, some nail polish, a Caboodle case, and a little Lego set. I'll do a separate post to list the whole haul.
Felt really good on the way home, even so after deboxing the dolls. Busted out some tools and other dolls, then beheaded 'em and washed their hair.
I can't remember the last time I worked on dolls like this. I feel really satisfied with how this day went.
