“What are you doing?”

Rafayel abruptly grabbed your wrist when you sneaked up to him from behind, holding a pair of antler-shaped hairpins - the reward that came after you successfully conquered the thirtieth floor of Deepspace Trial. You figured that after more than an hour of him looking at a blank canvas, he would appreciate a small break.

"What is this?" Rafayel enquired. He removed a clip from your grasp.

“Deer antlers.” You plopped down on the floor next to him and answered. After giving him the second one, you said, "For you."

“I know you've always had a thing for animals.” Rafayel's expression brightened to a smile. He pinned two deer antlers on his head, then turned to ask you: "How are they?" Do I look stunning?

You pulled a very serious expression. "Hmmm. They look very… Erm…”

Rafayel's expression changed from excitement to a pout. “Say no more. Judging from the look on your face, I already know how I look like.”

He stroked the two antlers on his head with his palms, got up, and strode over to the big mirror in the room's corner. Rafayel spent the next five minutes studying himself in the mirror, adjusting his hair and positioning his antlers more precisely.

"Come here."

He turned towards you, holding out a hand, signaling that he wanted you to come closer. You idly stood up and held his hand.

“Even when I'm a fish,” he said. “I must admit that I would make a magnificent deer. Don't you think so?”

You studied Rafayel's antlers carefully, then grabbed his chin to pull his face closer to you.

Rafayel opened his eyes wide in surprise, then grimaced. He also made a deer noise. “You use so much force. Are you aware that the deer you are holding is quite delicate?”

"I'm sorry. This deer is indeed fragile.”

Rafayel put his arms around your waist and positioned you between him and the mirror as you laughed. With his cheek resting on your head, he asked:

“Do you have another pair? I want us to wear them together. We're going to be the world's deerest couple!”

"Yes." You took out another pair of accessories from your pocket. Rafayel laid them delicately above your head. He stared at you two for a long time before pulling his phone out of his pocket to snap a picture of you two.

“If this goes up on your timeline, the stores that sell it will sell out!” You exclaimed.

"Obviously. I am really a trendsetter, as they put it." Rayafel smiled smugly in response. "Oh, now I see what I will sketch next. Thank you."

That being said, Rafayel lightly kissed your hair in the space between the antlers.

“Xavier, will you come here for a moment? I have something to tell you.”

Xavier's face appeared right behind the door when you called out to him. You signaled him to come closer and he then leaned down really close.

"What's the matter?"

Standing on tiptoe and holding two prepared antler-shaped hairpins in each hand, you clipped them directly onto Xavier's head while suppressing your laughter. With a scowl, he reached out to touch them.

"What are these things?"

Instead of responding immediately away, you drew him over to the room's mirror. Confused, Xavier enquired, "Are we going to some festival?"

"Yeah, we are." You laughed at the look on Xavier's face. His head covered in deer antlers made him appear really cute.

"Are costumes required for this festival?"

You gave a nod. There was, in fact, no event at all. You had to beat the thirtieth level of the Deeepspace Trial to obtain them, and then all of a sudden you imagined Xavier's expression when he wore them.

“Hmmm. Dressing up as an animal?…”

Xavier whispered to himself while still looking in the mirror. You could not help but raise a hand to touch the two antlers on his head, then he pulled your hand away.

“Are you going to… touch my antlers?”

"May I?"

“That's not very respectful to the deer.”

Xavier put on a stern face. You laughed. If you knew he liked role-playing so much, you would have bought you a few more items.

“So, Mister Deer,” You played along. “Are you fluent in deer language?”

Xavier frowned. “I know what you're going to do. Don't even think about it. I won't make deer noises."

“What a pity!” You deliberately let out a deep sigh. “There will be an animal noise contest at the upcoming festival. The prize is that expensive toaster we have planned to buy.”

Even though Xavier's eyes brightened up a little, he persisted in trying. After a while, when you messed with him enough, you decided to leave for lunch. But as soon as you turned away, you heard a very faint gurgling sound accompanied by a snort. Almost like a deer.

You looked back at where Xavier was sitting. His face was buried in his hands, but you could see the scarlet flush on his cheeks from the reflection in the mirror. You smiled triumphantly. You grinned victoriously. But before you had a chance to enjoy it too much, you were pulled back.

Xavier's face had gone from crimson to a terrifying mask of menace, as if he were about to hunt down a poor Wanderer. Still, his eyes gazing at you were gentle.

“It's your turn to be the deer. Do you think you can get away just like that?"

𝒁𝒂𝒚𝒏𝒆

“Please, Zayneee? Pretty pleaseeeee?”

Despite your insistence, Zayne just ignored you and continued typing on his keyboard.

“Let's do it for the kids, will you?”

You held two small deer antlers and approached him. Zayne frowned. He turned his chair around to face you.

"No."

He gave a chilly response. You had not given up yet. "Please! The festival is something that the pediatric patients are excited about. All the doctors and hospital staff are wearing costumes too. Nobody will make fun of you.”

"No." Zayne said it once more.

"You previously informed me that attending to a patient's mental health needs is equally as important as attending to their medical needs."

You were running out of reasons to make Zayne wear these antlers. After giving it some thinking, he inquired: 

"You want me to wear this just for the kids to see?"

At first you did not really understand what he meant, but when you did, your face became red.

“O-Of course it's not just that… I… I also want to see Dr. Zayne try cute things…”

Zayne sighed, but you swore you caught a smile across his face.

"Alright. But this is the last time I'll let you put absurd things on me.”

Hearing that, you smiled triumphantly. This definitely would not be the last time, as he also mentioned that the last time you had him wear a set of glowing devil horns. You quickly bent down to place two deer antlers in Zayne's hair. While they did not completely melt away his icy demeanor, they at least made him a little more approachable.

"Alright. You should have a quick look in the mirror."

"No need." Zayne replied. “I trust you to be responsible to keep an eye and correct them in any case, as long as they are on my head.”

You blinked in surprise. Zayne stood up, held your hand and walked out. The festival for pediatric patients at Akso hospital began in the warm spring weather. You also had a pair of deer antlers on your head. Wherever you went with Zayne, the kids followed, referring to you as Mommy Deer and Zayne as Daddy Deer. He did not respond much to that, but when no one was looking, he grinned to himself. And you were thrilled.

By the end of the day, everyone was exhausted but extremely happy. You followed Zayne into his office. As soon as the door closed, he drew you into his arms, resting his head on your shoulder. The antler on his head curled into your hair.

“Zayne? Is there something wrong?"

"You've spent the entire day today concentrating on the kids." His voice was so soft it made your heart skip a beat. “Could you spare a little with your deer now?”

Really rough timeline from Xavier's perspective:

(Spoilers for main story, anecdotes, and character myths. I haven't finished the myths yet, so some things could change)

Xavier is born on Philos. Clearly someone important, as he is constantly under guard. Life is connected to the core of Philos, making him and most people on Philos immortal while the planet remains.

Xavier went to school with MC in year 214, which is 214 years after the destruction of earth. MC has a fatal heart condition.

MC gives him the star charm and dies in his arms. Xavier promises to seek her out in her future lives.

Xavier meets MC again at a Philos Academy as knights in training, sometime near the end of Philos’ life as a planet. Jeremiah goes to the Academy too. Xavier is now a prince (was he from the start?), though he rejects the role. He has a trial in the forest that changes his attitude/demeanor noticeably.

The king dies, and Xavier disappears for about 200 years. MC and Xavier meet up again while investigating the suspicious forest full of Wanderers. Jeremiah is part of MC’s squad.

At some point MC becomes Queen and Xavier her knight.

Xavier leaves MC’s service, and she fakes his death, claiming he died with honors.

Timejump to the past.

1834 Xavier, Jeremiah, Isaiah, Noah, and others stranded on Earth (Part of a team called the Backtrackers? Were on a Backtrack mission when something went wrong in the Deepsace tunnel.)

2018 Xavier checks out a book in the library that MC will check out 30 years later.

2021 Zayne born Sept 5th.

2024 Rafayel born March 6th.

2026 MC born.

At some point in MC and Rafayel's childhood, she saves him and they makes a vow. Also, Rafayel is tricked and his people, the Lemurians, are slaughtered. Some few survivors go into hiding living on land among humans, including his Aunt Talia.

2032 Xavier joins Arthur's police team.

2033 That winter, Noah contacts Xavier for information to make a new identity. Noah mentions wanting to be an ordinary person in this timeline and that he fell in love. Xavier fakes his death as a police officer and encounters a lost little girl. Fights Isaiah in Linkon city in a fight that makes the whole city go dark.

2034 Deepspace tunnel appears and Chronorift Catastrophe (timespace anomaly in Linkon city). Lemurian ruins discovered. MC is 8, taken in by Grandma. Caleb is also adopted by Grandma. MC has protocore shards in her heart. Her first heart doctor is Dr. Noah. 12 year old Zayne loses control of his Evol at the end of summer and has a nightmare about the Grim Reaper for the first time.

Zayne spends 8 years in med school program (about 2037 (age 16?) to 2045 (age 24?)

2045 Xavier meets Arthur at his tombstone. (Zayne’s (age 24?) mission to the Arctic?)

Rafayel seeking revenge overseas, not painting. He then moves to Linkon city and resumes painting again.

Rafayel becomes a lecturer at Linkon University where MC is attending.

Thomas becomes Rafayel’s agent.

Zayne begins working at Akon hospital, eventually as MC’s doctor.

2048 Story begins. MC is about 22. Rafayel says he is 24. Zayne is 27. Xavier claims to be 23.

Thoughts? What am I missing? What did I get wrong? It's a lot to process.

Its like the Lingering Warmth card of his. hE DOESNT FUCKING SPEAK WHEN HE'S HURTING. Mc and zayne are mutually stubborn. The entire card is an anxiety ride. He doesnt reveal he's hurt until mc finally discovers it

Its really interestimg that mc is the one that raises the ground rules when she's supposed to be the trouble maker out of them. Zayne doesnt usually get in trouble but when he does its really concerning.

[ Open Orbit ] Stage 120 Clear VOD

I was previously hard stuck on this stage for quite some time; since 04/21 according to my earliest blog entry about this stage here. What originally started off as a meme attempt run turned into an actual CLEAR!! After a few attempts in the second half that is... (ᵕ—ᴗ—) Before I go in depth about my experience some notable information about this fight-- Stage 120 is the final stage that's currently available in the Deepspace Trials until the next big update in July. Like all x0 stages it requires two teams: Team 01 uses 6-Emerald memories Team 02 uses 6-Violet memories. TBH, I'm still in shock over this clear. I really didn't expect to clear it using the memories and protocores I had equipped. Literally awestruck as I'm writing this, reflecting on everything. Below are my thoughts and reflection about this wild adventure, as well as my final team set up and stat attributes.

BEFORE AND AFTER

Here's my before and after team set up for Open Orbit - Stage 120. I want to note this change was made as a meme/suggestion amongst friends during Xavier's Shimmering Moonlight limited-time banner. It was due to me getting super duper lucky with my pulls, which I will write about soon. Originally I wanted to respect the Protofield Stellactrum and match the colors for the perfect match and additional bonuses. I usually try to match the stellactrum because every bit of stats helps. However, I also want to mention that there have been instances where I opt to go off color and attempt to brute force it. For the record, this would be the most notorious one I have ever brute forced. It's not that I haven't attempted to brute force this stage before. I have. My Violet build with Rafayel was lacking in CRIT and I wasn't entirely satisfied with the protocores I rolled. So I tried to brute force it with my Zayne foreseer build, using his highest leveled memories. Usually that build carries me hard since it has a duo rank i bonus. however I still wasn't able to clear it due to lack of damage. My plan was to farm for more protocores. Specifically look for better delta cores with CRIT rate as its main stat and upgrade the ones with better substats to swap out what I currently had equipped. It's a long grind. Protocore farming is the true gacha in this game, unlike the wish pool where you're guaranteed a memory from pity. You never know what you'll get or if you'll even see what you're looking for. Well, like I mentioned earlier I got really lucky with my pulls for Xavier's banner and came out with his new myth pair at Duo Rank 3. I had cores from my SN build I could have used, but since I didn't need oath recovery anymore (duo rank ii bonus replaces having to equip that stat) I had two options to choose from-- Expedited Energy Boost or Oath Strength. So I tapped some beta cores to see what I could work with. You know, the usual trial and error testing. As luck would have it, as I was gambling my protocore upgrades I somehow managed to roll 2 Expedited Energy Boost cores with similar substats. A friend who was watching me tap away suggested that I try to brute force the fight again, but this time use my new Xavier solars/EEB protocores for the second half and use Zayne for the first half. I'm always down to try new things. So we decided to science it. Xavier's Moonlight myths is my first duo rank 3 pair. I was genuinely curious to see if it would be possible to clear open orbit - stage 120. Narrator voice: Lumiere cleared the fight with flying colors. (even if it did take him several attempts during the second half, hehe) The disrespect though lmao. It just goes to show you that there is no right or wrong way to play the game. Match the colors. Don't match the colors. You should use whatever is available to you and works best for you. Just have fun with it ⸜(｡˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡

My DeepSpace Trials experience so far (I've reached lvl 70 on Open and 63 for all three of them):

Rafayel: Easy mode. Him making himself the center of attention for my 5 star pulls has paid itself forward. (Both Myth cards obtained)

Zayne: Pretty simple. A challenge now and then, but usually cause one card is a 4 star. Nothing a slight level up can't fix now and then. (Both Myth cards obtained)

Xavier: WE'RE FIGHTING FOR OUR LIVES OUT HERE. THE ONLY SAVING GRACE WAS PUTTING HIM IN THE COP OUTFIT CAUSE OF ITS EFFECT. RAFAYEL WHY DID YOU STEAL SO MANY 5 STAR OPPORTUNITIES FROM HIM??? I CAN'T EVEN USE ALL OF THEM AT ONCE. (only half of the mythic cards... it is pain)

𝕎𝕒𝕣𝕟𝕚𝕟𝕘𝕤: Spoilers for Rafayel’s “Before Sunrise” Kindled

Peace is the first thing I feel, followed by shock that I actually fell asleep sometime throughout the night. Then came surprise when the first thing I saw with fresh eyes was a bare chest.

My wheel of emotions stopped spinning, finally landing on exasperation when my gaze trailed up to meet the watchful eyes of the man sharing the bed with me. Though the corners of his lips were slightly curled in a way that could maybe pass as affectionate, I knew better. He was amused, and rather highly at that.

I sighed and lightly smacked his chest with the back of my hand. “Why are you on my side of the bed, you creep-”

Something crinkled as I shifted my weight. Confused, I reached under my side and pulled out the travel guide Rafayel suggested to use as a barrier between us.

“Oh, I’m the creep, am I?” He dropped his head onto his pillow, meeting my eyes at level with a knowing gleam shining in his. “Says the one who came over to my side of the bed. I hope your poor fingers aren’t sore from clinging to me all night.”

He toyed with my fingers for a moment before propping himself back up on his elbow, that stupid smirk still plastered to his face.

“I was not!” Glaring, I caught his jaw in one hand. “And even if I was, why are you half naked?!”

If he tried to accuse me of undressing him in my sleep, I was gonna haul him to the open balcony and toss him into the sea.

I must have momentarily caught him off guard when I grabbed his face, because it took him a minute to answer. “Because you were gripping my shirt so tightly, you ripped several of the buttons off. I undid the rest to save their lives.” He caught my wrist and lowered it. “You were whimpering in your sleep. The sad kind. I didn’t have to heart to push you away.”

I blinked at him. It wasn’t that I doubted the whimpering part, not with my track record of nightmares, but he actually put up with it instead of waking me? Even if I asked why, the chances of getting a straight answer were slim to none, and I didn’t feel like dissecting riddles today.

Could I be dreaming?

Just on the off chance I was, I leaned forward a little and blew a gust of air at his chest. Rafayel looked down at his chest, then back up at me with a single brow raised. “Silly girl. What was that for?”

I narrowed my eyes, unable to decide if that reaction was something the real Rafayel would say or not. “Trying to see if I’m dreaming or not.”

I blew air at him again, on his collarbone this time. He shivered with a soft gasp, a hand coming up to protect the spot I just attacked. I aimed the third one at his neck.

“Stop.” He said, putting a hand up to block the air. “It tickles. Do you believe you’re awake now?”

I tried to keep my eyes from trialing over him, I really did, but I failed. I couldn’t stop myself from taking notice of his stomach and the defined muscles beneath his flawless skin.

Rafayel chuckled just then. “Like what you see?”

My face began to burn. Not because his comment made me shy, but because his smugness was annoying. “I was just realizing how squishy you are.”

“Squishy? Puh-lease.” He snatched hold of my wrist and pressed the palm of my hand against his stomach. “I have abs, okay?”

I subtly swallowed the lump in my throat and tried not to give away the sudden short-circuiting of my brain. ‘Most definitely not squishy.’

I pulled my hand back, but the firm sensation of his abs still had my hand feeling hot. “How does someone who sits around and paints all day have-”

Suddenly, I went from laying on my side to on my back. Rafayel was above me, bare chest in full view, open shirt falling like curtains to block my view of anything else. Instead of the ocean, which had been rolling quietly since I woke up, now all I heard was my own heartbeat. Pink hues of the sunrise spilled in through the open balcony, mixing with the white marble ceiling of the falsely reserved honeymoon suit and casting an ethereal glow around him.

“W-What are you doing?” I asked, breathless, as he fiddled with something on the nightstand on my side of the bed.

His pretty pink and purple eyes met mine, another classic smirk playing on his lips. “Your alarm was going off, didn’t you hear it?” My breath caught as he tucked a lock of dark teal hair behind my ear. “But if you want to ignore it, I won’t say anything.”

My heart was full blown pounding now, a complex wave of emotions washing over me. Shyness and desire, contentment and thrill, realization and denial. Then panic found its way into the mix, and before I knew what I was doing, I had flipped Rafayel and was sitting over his hips, hands pining his wrists above his head.

Now I wasn’t the only one flustered, if the bright red coating across Rafayel’s ears and cheeks had anything to say about his state of mind. “D-Don’t pin someone down without making sure they’re unable to retaliate.”

“Noted.” Rafayel said, avoiding my gaze. “But my protection is what you’re here for, Miss. Bodyguard.”

“Clearly.”

Releasing his wrists, I sat up to avoid the unnecessary bend in my spine. My hands slid over his shoulders and down his chest, the smoothness of his skin like bait on a line. Momentarily forgetting myself, I traced a light circle over the small birthmark on his peck. It was only when the pitch of his inhale sharpened that I realized where I was and what I was doing.

But before I could apologize, he caught my wrist and brought my fingers to his lips, lightly nipping the tips with his teeth. “Is this another lesson, Miss. Bodyguard? Should I keep an eye out for land sirens who lure fish in and trap them in a bowl, left waiting until finally being shown interest in?”

[ Directional Orbit ] Light - Stage 120 Clear VOD

On Sunday, 05/19, I've finally crossed the finish line and cleared Xavier's Directional Orbit: Light - Stage 60! He’s the first love interest to clear all of the Deepspace Trials currently available with my MC. My goodness, what a wild and crazy adventure this has been. I wouldn’t have been able to do this without Lumiere for all the reasons I will explain in detail below, but for now I'll just briefly go over what you should expect from this particular stage. Stage 120 is the final stage available for Xavier's Directional Orbit: Light. It has a red hue around its planet so you know that it will require two teams, as every x0 stage has done previously. Team 01's Protofield Stellactrum is 6-Amber memories and Team 02's Protofield Stellactrum is 6-Emerland memories. As a reminder, there is no right or wrong way to play the game. My game play will vary from yours, but I still wanted to share my experiences with hopes it'll help you on your own trials. Depending on your play style and what memories/protocores you have available you can choose to either match the stellactrum in order to have a perfect match or you can go off color and try to brute force it. For this stage I opted to have a mix of both. More details under read more.

I guess you can say I took notes from my own playbook to figure out how I wanted to approach this stage, haha. I used the same strategy I used in my clear post for Rafayel's Directional Orbit: Fire - Stage 110. Rather than have a perfect match I opted to brute force the stage while still having some matched stellactrum for the attribute bonus. I swapped the solar memories for each team and kept most, if not all, the lunar memories to have some attribute bonus by matching some stellactrum.

I also opted to use Xavier's Lumiere Companion for both teams for his insane support skill < Lunar Vortex >. This unique ability allows him to draw enemies to the center of the moonlight, dealing DoT damage while reducing their ATK by 30% and speed by 50% for 5 seconds. Combined with using Hunter Wand it is soooo good for crowd control, especially in the first half of this stage. Yeah, it took me two usages of < resonance skill > to break the four wanderers' protocore shields in order to bring them into a weakened state, but having Lumiere group them up for me to drop my own AoE damage really helped take them down.

For the second half of the fight I had all of Lumiere's pair bonuses available since his MN solar pair was equipped for this team. It was fun playing this build using MC's Moonchaser guns. Ranged is my preferred weapon of choice since my skills using melee weapons (ie. Sword, Claymore) aren't the best no matter what game I play. Since I went off colors, only using 3 matching emerald stellactrum for 15% attribute bonus, it took me a while to break the final boss' protocore shields to bring it to a weakened state. The fight is only 2 minutes long and each resonance skill has a 15 sec cooldown. I could only shatter one shield any time I used my < resonance skill >. This is why it is so crucial for you to press your abilities off CD!!

I wasn't able to bring it down to a weakened state for the second time before the timer ran out because I didn't use any Oath Recovery boost beta protocores. Instead I wanted to take advantage of Lumiere's kit and zoom by equipping 2 +9 Expedited Energy Boost at 16.8% so I could spam my < active skill > more for the memes lol...

Fortunately for me I was able to bring its HP down just enough for my Ardent Oath to do a good portion of damage towards the end. It was a very close fight with me clearing the stage with 4 seconds left on the timer, but we did it! My amazing starlight carried me all the way across the finish line without breaking a sweat, hehe.
