[A medium-sized box is wrapped in newspaper comics and encircled in bright green ribbon. On top of the box, in place of a bow, is a collection of berry tree flowers, sealed to the ribbon.

The box holds a note, written in elegant cursive, that says, "I'm your secret Santa! I don't know much about these 'Contest' things but hopefully this helps. Sorry it's not much. Happy Holidays. -Marjorie Ann Miller"

Inside the box is a set of five homemade apricorn Poké Balls. None of them are perfect, with a few scratches here and there. The first is vibrant blue, with star shapes carved into the top and painted pale yellow. The second is white with rainbow dots of varying sizes painted onto it. The third is black with a red middle. The fourth is painted light blue with pale pink shapes mimicking a Milotic's scales painted and carved onto the top. Finally, the fifth is an earthy brown on top, with pressed flowers encased into the design with resin. The botton is a bright green.]

It’s a few Tropius-sized hats… a Santa hat, top hat, comfy fabric headband, winter bobble hat, and several imitation job-related hats, such as Nurse Joy or Officer Jenny’s caps, a hard hat, and a firefighter’s hat!

In addition… There’s some Pokémon-safe chocolate chip cookies here! Just the smallest bit burnt.

And finally… there’s an encyclopedia of the world made for a younger audience, with lots of explanations inside it!

[the package is a reused box containing a sketchbook and a couple of notes bound together with a paper clip.

The sketchbook has a spray painted cover with a finger-painted doodle of a grafaiai. The colours are… very vibrant.

On the top pile of the note, a message reads:

"Hey. I’m your secret Santa from rotomblr. I saw you have a Grafaiai too so I gave you something that might help with redirecting them from painting on furniture or clothing. It’s a paint-friendly sketchbook. And since I saw you’re a cook, I wrote down some of my friend’s recipes he was down to share. Happy Delibird day."

The recipes collected seem to mostly be sour and spicy meals. It ranges from pancakes, to stews, to sandwiches.]

There is also a note: "Hello! I am your Rotomblr Secret Santa. I know we have never interacted, but I hope this is all enjoyable! I'm thinking of eventually taking on the Unovan gym circuit, so maybe we'll meet one day"

Pelipper Mail! A beautifully gift-wrapped shoebox containing a TM for the move Fury Cutter, a scented candle, and a collection of unintentionally (on the part of the creators, at least) hilarious bootleg figurines of Bug Pokemon. There's a card inside, the front of which has a Caterpie wearing a Santa hat drawn on, with a speech bubble reading, in the most cheesy font imaginable, "Happy Holidays!" The inside reads, handwritten: "Hello, Kyle! I saw a bunch of these stupid figures and sorted out the bugs to give to you. They gave me a laugh. Hope you enjoy them too! The Fury Cutter TM is a hint to my identity (there's a winky face drawn here), and the candle was... an afterthought. I just had it laying around. Happy Delibird Day, from your Secret Santa!"

Oh GOSH I love these. They're just so SCRUNKLY. These fellas are going on display I don't care they're just the right kind of ugly-cute AAAAAAAAAAAAA ILOVETHEM.

The Fury Cutter TM is really appreciated! Not really sure who that hints to, though. There are a TON of Pokemon that learn it via TM, but even still, I appreciate the gifts!!!

...Oh, and the candle's pretty nice too. Might give it to Professor Ebony whenever she gets back. At this point, keeping my house smelling nice is a passive thing thanks to Lychee. Still, appreciated!

a secret santa? in this organization!? we are hard working adults working towards a better future anon, i expected more professionalism from one of our workers!….

…oh i’m just kidding! i think a secret santa could be good for us in recent events! as always i will be doing the organizing for delibird day, it’s not exactly courtney’s scene…but i! the great tabitha! will do everything in my power to give our company a magical season as long as maxie agrees

Update

I’ve been working on some smaller things that’ll have a bigger impact in the end. 

-I finally found a better way to give gifts. Before I just had a bunch of choices that the Player had to choose and if they chose the wrong gift by accident they’d have to go through the list again. It was tedious and stupid. Now the bag actually opens up and you can give a gift. If you try to give somebody something that isn’t supposed to be a gift, nothing happens and you have the option again until you do give a gift. So I’ve been working on having that for everybody and replacing the old with the new.

-I fixed some faces. I can’t remember why this is but for all of the faces for the datable people they’re positioned in the same way so it’s easy to change their face. Most of the other characters aren’t positioned in that way for some reason.

-I fixed some of the added Pokemon’s stats. Which I wouldn’t have to do if they didn’t change the order of the stats.

-I also fixed up some of the BETA revamped sprites to look better. I’m not going to replace them on the blog yet.

-I added stones for every type of Pokemon. I don’t know if I’m going to use them. I only made them to justify the price of a pack I’m selling. They are coded in though.

-I made it so if you’re good enough friends with someone (125, give a few) you can’t get them for the “Secret Delibird” event. (Literally just “Secret Santa” with the town, but Delibird.) I still have an extra measure in case this doesn’t work or if I forgot to do it for somebody in particular. This is to prevent future glitches when I expand the relationships between these characters. I’ll have a post explaining these events as soon as I’m sure that I’m done with them. (This will probably happen a day or two before I upload the first build of the game.)

-I renamed Rebecca’s parents “Ryan” and “Reina.” This is mostly because I forgot their names and some things were labeled as “Reb dad” and “Reb mom.” But also I kind of like the idea of the entire family having names that start with an “R.” (I barely did anything with them, if I did anything at all. Maybe one piece of dialogue?)

-I kept on mixing up Reina and Kiana because I only see the top of their heads in the Maker. When designing Kiana I had a very specific character in mind from a game I played at the time. (I won’t be saying the name of this game.) Looking back the two characters look very alike. So I decided to change Kiana’s design over Reina’s. (Who’s design I’ll probably change in the future anyway. Either her or Ryan’s.) The only thing I did so far was change her hair from black to a dark blue. (As a reference to Tae Takemi.) If I still struggle I’ll do more changes to her character. (Or Reina’s.)

And for the main big thing I’ve been working on,

-I’ve been working on Rebecca. I just finished her dialogue options throughout her friendship and now I have to figure out what I want her schedule to be and I have to make three more events. (A random event, the date and the confession.) I implemented the thing that will give you bonus points with her and open her up as a character a while ago. Her dialogue might be tweaked once I’m done with Kai. (Sometimes when there’s a character close by to the one you’re talking to, they’ll overhear you and will react to what you said.)

Holidays

There’s not a whole lot of holidays right now, and the big ones are pretty straight-forward. But some are not.

Update 5/31/21: Added two new holidays! (One mini and one main.)

1/10 “Flower Fest”

I’m not really sure why I’m calling it a “fest” when it’s more like a scripted phenomenon. I added flowers around during spring time- that I JUST realize won’t go away. (I added these when I was sick.)

Anyway, on 1/10 Flabebe can be found in these flowers. I feel like I wanted to do more but I was taking a “super strength” generic Tylenol so... I barely remember. I’ll fix this entry as soon as I fix the flowers.

2/1 “Summer of Luvdisc”

Takes place on the beach. You have all day (technically you have until you go to bed again) to catch five different colored Luvdiscs based on the colors of the Candidate’s heart levels. (You can see them in Pokemon)

For some reason when I made this a while ago I made these Luvdiscs all separate numbers on the Pokedex instead of being a “form” of Luvdisc. This means that they’ll take up five slots on the Pokedex but you won’t have that Pokeball by it’s name after only catching one of them.

If you catch all of them and have them in your Party you can get a fish tank in your house.

The laptop acts like a PC and the person next to the person who’ll give you a tank will sell you some things:

The water, soda and lemonade are for healing since Pomona town will be closed off. The Repels are for finding some of the rarer Luvdisc colors. (They can be up to level 20 or 25 where the more common ones will be up to 10 I think?) And then the Pokeballs... Are Pokeballs.

Nothing happens if you get a shiny Luvdisc. I don’t know what kind of award the player should get for that. (It will count as one of the Luvdiscs though.)

There will be an Abra inside of Pomona and in the forest to teleport you back to your farm if you fly away from the beach.

Either the ability to surf or a fishing rod will be required to do this.

3/11 Battle Tournament

If you pay a fee of $100 you can participate in a battle tournament with people who lives in Pomona. It’ll be four rounds and you can’t heal in between them.

(I kind of had South Park playing in the background when I chose that name.)

The trainers will have Pokemon between level 20 and 30.

So far there’s only one pattern of trainers that you can battle. I’d like to make this random in the future. You can get an Exp. Share if you win.

3/28 Halloween

I wanted to add this before the first upload but I didn’t want to make the sprites for it. And then I was on “super strength” Tylenol for a week thanks to the second dose giving me a migraine and I just suddenly felt like dressing the candidates up. (Plus the kids)

Basically they ask “Trick Or Treat.”

If you choose “Treat,” you can give them something sweet. (Nothing will happen if you give them any of the other usual gifts.) You’ll gain some FP for this.

If you choose “trick...”

You can do both by the way. You can give them a treat for points and then turn around and battle them anyway if you want.

Also you can battle Ine and Zolton if you want. (They’re not dressed up yet.) In the second big build you can battle Tadao and Mayumi too. (You need eight badges, which is why you can’t battle them until the next build.)

4/14 Valentine’s Day

In the morning when you leave your house you will receive some berry seeds from Ludavine (which is kind of funny since you can’t plant anything during the winter time) and some chocolate from any candidate who has at least 100 relationship points in your mailbox. (If you get chocolate from all of them there will be a bonus message.)

You can also give gifts to anybody who has at least 100 relationship points.

...This is the first time I’m noticing that. Whoops. I’ll be sure to fix that sometime.

I haven’t made winter maps for every map at this point, but they should be made by the time the game’s released. I don’t have them made yet in case I have to fix some events before release so I won’t have to worry about copying&pasting everything.

4/25 and 4/26 Secret Delibird

This is basically Christmas but with the whole town doing Secret Santa. On 4/25 you will receive a letter in the mail telling you who you’re supposed to give a gift to. (Any candidate over 124 points should make it reroll.)

On 4/26 you can give them something.

Likewise somebody from the town will be selected randomly and will give you something.

You can give all of the children gifts if you want. They’re not part of this thing because, well... They’re children.

4/28 New Year’s Eve

I decided to copy Stardew Valley and make each month 28 days so I won’t have to make a near infinite amount of calendars. (With 28 days the 1st will always be a Monday and the 28th will always be a Sunday.)

If a candidate is at at least 60 relationship points you can ask them to celebrate New Years Eve with you into New Year’s day. It doesn’t really do that so after the date you’ll be teleported to your room and you can’t leave.

They will wait by your house at night for you and then take you to a date spot. (Who it is will depend on where that is.) They’ll then ramble on about something. You’ll get 5 friendship points if you go on the date. On the other hand you’ll lose 5 relationship points for blowing them off.
