I don't use twitter much anymore (since I got suspended for no reason lol) but I just wanna talk about the /morston bashing/.... It is unbearable on that app. People give the most asinine reasons why shipping morston or really anything that they personally dislike makes you morally corrupt in real life and deserving of harassment. It's really repetitive atp and I roll my eyes at it but all these years later and it's still very much prevalent.

So out of fear of being cancelled there is a severe lack of discourse and in-depth analysis surrounding John/Arthur's dynamic... and vandermorgan too, don't get me started on that.... Everyone loses their hair over a mildly "problematic" fictional relationship. Bunch of fake fujoshis.

It's always selective outrage, depending on what the majority in a certain fandom decides to like and hate on because most claims that deem ships problematic have actually no validity to them.

Take me back to the good old days when it was perfectly normal to fangirl over even the most obscure crack ship. When fiction was just fiction and not a reflection of your morals and political identity.

It's the same with liking villain characters. "you can't like this character!! bc he's EVIL!1!! he did this nd that ur just as evil for liking them you deserve to be tortured and stoned to death blah blah blah"

How utterly boring, and again it doesn't apply to every morally grey character. It hinges on the opinion of which character/ship the majority in a particular fandom elect to unequivocally bully

It's entirely subjective policing, which is absolutely ridiculous. Where do you actually draw the line?

I say if you are unable to engage with fiction on a level that's separate and disconnected from reality, if morally grey fiction corrupts your very soul and compels you act and behave in indecent ways, you should stop consuming it entirely.

Stick to your children's fables, kid.

None of this has any affect on my love for morston, in fact it strengthens it LOL. Shipping morston becomes almost like an act of defiance.

I'm grateful that at least on Tumblr and other spaces I can enjoy the fan art, fanfics or comics and knowing someone out there is raging and seething at the sight of it is kinda hilarious so it makes it all the more enjoyable. It's when they decide to feign moral superiority and launch their sheep following to attack and harass you with their nasty words wishing actual death on you irl, that is when it does get under my skin. That is just too far. But I think that is a reasonable reaction for me to have.

They’ve been friends canonically since at least 3 years old and at the start of the show they’re I wanna say 30 maybe? And yet these two grown men are THE most chaotic idiots (affectionate) in the whole show (and let’s be real anywhere). The entire show in fact hinges on the idea that they’re dumbasses and WILL get into carat shenanigans. Episode examples include the one where they are investigating an alien abduction, the one where they’re looking for big foot, the vampire one, all of these by the way they hundred percent believe to be true until they themselves unwillingly prove otherwise. And maybe the most dumbass moment of all time, when Gus finds his boss dead and instead of calling the cops he gets his dna ALL OVER THE CRIME SCENE, calls Shane to help clean up and Shawn gets HIS DNA ALL OVER THE CRIME SCENE AS WELL!!!! Truly cannot think of a worse reaction to finding a dead body. They’ve been sucking that single brain cell that exists between them dry for over 3 decades now and they show no signs of stopping.

they are. so stupid. both of them can be smart in their own ways but when you put them together the dumb best friends energy is unmatched. they are platonic soulmates pretending that shawn has psychic powers and solve crimes by dicking around and somehow always coming out alive. they accidentally befriend the criminals they’re supposed to be investigating constantly. they’re always one step away from being fired or arrested bc of their dumbassery

the entire show is literally shawn pretending to be a psychic (← dumbass behavior) and gus aiding and abetting him and actively a dumbass as well

If you have seen even a single episode of this show, you know these two fools are the best duo ever. Constantly bantering theough 80s movie references and animal like noises, most often above a dead body, these two bring unique different dummy energy that both brings each other up and builds up their own skills along the way. I will love these two men until the day I die and they deserve an honest chance to be the best dumbass duo of all time!

im a vehement believer that denji and power were not siblings like everyone thinks they were.

makima is the one who thought power would be a sister to him, not the author himself. a lot of the panels where denji and power are in bed together/bathe together really imply something more than siblings without being sexual. they have this grey relationship that’s not entirely platonic or romantic. denji was obsessed with makima because of her manipulation and his desire to feel loved — he was shortsighted because of that.

in the scene where he sucks blood from power’s neck, power is very much enjoying their contact and wraps her legs around him. that does not scream “platonic siblings” to me. denji is not over the moon, popping a boner, and going insane while he’s over power. but he’s comfortable. he’s relaxed. he’s giving so much of his attention and love in order to take care of power. if anything, that seems much more romantic to me than any experience he’s had with other women.

in the scene where he’s waiting for reze, and power walks in instead, he’s disappointed. but the line right before she walks in is something along the lines of, ‘you’ll meet the right girl eventually.’ if that’s not foreshadowing, i don’t know what is.

when it comes to female/male relationships, people always label it as either romantic or platonic siblings. like? hello? those are not the only two options for female/male relationships?

Denji's associated with dogs because just like Pochita he loves unconditionally and is loyal to the hand that feeds him. Power's associated with cats and just like Meowy she doesn't love unconditionally nor is it enough for the hand to just feed if it isn't offering proper care and effort for her affections, and that's exactly what they end up offering each other in the series. As fucked up as Chainsaw Man can be, it's amazing how one of its main themes is that love is achieved through intimacy, time and effort rather than idolization.
