Petra nasceu e cresceu na calma cidade de Denver, Colorado. Desde jovem, ela queria viver em uma metrópole animada, onde pudesse explorar a agitação urbana. Realizou esse sonho aos 19 anos, quando saiu da casa dos pais para fazer faculdade em NYC.

Apesar de ter se tornado uma jornalista talentosa, ela sempre teve desejo de ser uma autora de livros e séries consagradas, dos quais as pessoas sempre falariam. O sonho básico para quem escreve.

Durante seus anos como editora em uma revista de estilo de vida e moda (Lush, a irmã mais nova da Vogue, como ela diria), Petra encontrou seu noivo, um editor-chefe de uma revista de esportes, no prédio ao lado. Mesmo com a natural competição profissional, o amor aconteceu entre eles.

Mesmo bem sucedida, percebia a cada dia que passava que perdia tempo da sua vida fazendo coisas que agradavam a todo mundo, exceto a si mesma. Não gostava das coisas que escrevia, pelo menos não todas, mas era inegável que era tão talentosa que podia escrever qualquer coisa, de verdade ou de mentira.

Decidindo seguir seu coração, ela tomou a impulsiva decisão de abandonar sua carreira como jornalista e lançar um manuscrito que estava há muito trabalhando. Nunca saberia se tentasse, não é? Seu noivo a apoiou no começo, crente de que ela quebraria a cara e seria ele a resgatá-la emocionalmente, ele até mesmo indicou uma editora com quem trabalhou um tempo atrás.

Mas à medida que o manuscrito de Petra começou a ganhar destaque, a relação começou a mudar. Sua primeira publicação foi um sucesso de vendas, e um sucesso nas mídias sociais. Era tudo do que as pessoas estavam falando (e pelos melhores motivos). O dinheiro investindo estava retornando para a sua mão, e ainda, tinha os direitos autorais a receber.

No entanto, as mudanças na vida de Petra causaram tensões no relacionamento. Seu noivo, inicialmente solidário, tornou-se enciumado com seu sucesso. Queens, NY -- Uruguay-born artist Juan Wauters will be releasing his sixth studio album Wandering Rebel on June 2 via Captured Tracks. Last week, he shared newest single “Nube Negra” featuring Y La Bamba. The ruminating song spans just under 3.5 minutes long, with an acoustic guitar-driven instrumental. There’s a folk-y core to the track that gives the song a narrative style, emulating songs that unravel a story as it goes on. “Nube Negra” is a traveler’s song - from the lyrics touching on escapism (even though you can’t escape problems that will inevitably follow you wherever you go) to the soft western layers, giving the song a touch of adventures in the Wild Wild West.

On the track, Wauters shares: “Nube Negra” was written and recorded in NY with Carlos Hernandez. The song and the video touch on the idea of relocating to a new town in search of a new life, leaving one’s problems behind without realizing that those problems will follow us along. Once the song was written we wanted a guest singer for the Nube Negra (black cloud) part and thought Luz’s voice (Y La Bamba) would fit well, given the mysterious qualities of her voice.

Of Course: Sam Smith and Kim Petras’ Performance at the Grammys Prompted Dozens of FCC Complaints

Sam Smith and Kim Petras’ hell-inspired performance of “Unholy” at the Grammys prompted several of FCC complaints from unhappy viewers.

As a result,  numerous people have filed complaints against CBS and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), with TMZ reporting that most of the offended parties claim the performance doubled as satanic worship. 

“It was wrought with evil imagery, and depicted DEVIL WORSHIPING ACOLYTES writhing around on the floor virtually naked, and in CAGES. It was broadcast on live television, and I cannot believe that CBS allowed it,” one person wrote. 

Another person took their displeasure to the extreme, writing, “I will be canceling my television service due to this.”

Fresh off the performance last Sunday, Petras defended her and Smith’s creative decisions, saying the stage was inspired by not feeling accepted by religion.

“I think a lot of people, honestly, have kind of labeled what I stand for and what Sam stands for as religiously not cool, and I personally grew up wondering about religion and wanting to be a part of it but slowly realizing it didn’t want me to be a part of it,” she said, per Variety. “So it’s a take on not being able to choose religion. And not being able to live the way that people might want you to live, because as a trans person I’m already not kind of wanted in religion. So we were doing a take on that and I was kind of hellkeeper Kim.”

People love preaching that the LGBT community is going to hell only to get upset when they embrace it.

I pegged it as some combination of The Hotelier and Joyce Manor and other things of that ilk. It was similar to that — but so much more. This was part of the soundtrack from when I drove from Philadelphia to Baltimore to Pittsburgh to Indianapolis and back for the NFL combine. Good road trip. Top track: “Distant Star”

18. Mark Ronson — Late Night Feelings The most misguided driving venture I’ve ever had is driving from Denver, Colo., to Davenport, Iowa, during my return from California in 2014. That drive took 13 or 14 hours, and I started it way too late in the morning and there was a time change built in. I was alone. It was a little much. But driving from Green Bay, Wisc., to Milwaukee, Wisc., after the Eagles played the Packers in September ranks up there, though it was more inconvienent than misguided. I left Lambeau Field at 1:30 a.m. and had to be at the airport in Milwaukee by 4 to return my rental car and make my plane home. It was a lot. It was all worth it. Top track: “See U Again (feat. Camila Cabello)”

The highs of Charli validated that. The best songs on here are some of the best pop songs of the year. But there’s a lot that I skip, and that prevents it from being up higher. I made a playlist that has only the songs I really, really liked from Charli (because all of them are pretty good), and it turns out that those are the songs that are either solo or have the least intrusive features. 1. Toro y Moi — Outer Peace We left Denver and headed west up into the hills toward Red Rocks, and Ian put on Outer Peace. It worked. As a chillwave defender for life, I miss the Causers of This vibe, but Outer Peace falls into the same lineage as Boo Boo a couple years ago. It’s rather minimal, and it’s contempative. The themes are large, and there’s a good Ariel Pink callback to the beginning of the decade: “It’s always the same, as always.” It worked in a Colorado summer, in a swampy Philadelphia September and a the cold tease of winter. Course Introduction:  This course surveys formative trends in Demon history throughout the world from before Demonology was a field of academic study to the present day giving a comprehensive view of the global Demon movement in time and space. It covers the basics of human understandings of Demons and the Underworld.

In this course, you will learn 1.) broadened history of Demons, both in regard to themselves and humanity 2.) Demons as an entity both on this plane and in the Underworld, 3.) history of Demonology as a study, key figures and key academic works, 4.) the movements of Demon throughout history with humanity.

To succeed in this course, I ask you to move beyond the simple analysis of Demons and Demonology that can be found in a search bar, and focus on broader cultural, social, and scientific implications while learning to situate them in historical contexts.

Simply put, you are going to learn the foundations of Demonology. The origins of Demons themselves,  from our understandings of them, and how Demonology came to find its footing in the world.

Everything You Need to Know About The Paper World Society Pt.2

I made a post a while back called “Everything You Need to Know About The Paper World Society Pt.1” but it didn’t contain even close to everything you need to know, so here’s the sequel post. I can link the original later or you can find it on my page by searching #the paper world society. This post is going to cover all of the really complex world building so strap in, kiddos.

The Paper World Society

The Paper World Society is the main antagonist of the novel. It is a secret society made up of thousands of members across the globe and dating back to the late 18th century. No one knows exactly where the Society came from, but they have had the same goal since their founding: to restart the world.

In order to fulfill this goal, the Society is intent on either convincing Hikari Matsuda (the Ever Soul, the only person capable of restarting the world) to join them or taking her by force if necessary. While having immense power across the globe, few member are concerned about the Society’s power or influence. Instead they focus on the moral obligation they have to see the Society’s plans through till the end.

Hikari is not the only notable target of the Society. It’s members are generally willing to do whatever it takes to succeed, and that often means kidnapping people who have useful information or psychic abilities, as well as murdering people that get in the way. Blackmailing powerful people is another popular tactic for them.

The Society functions under a hierarchical structure with a single leader at the top (Laini Dawson), surrounded by her most trustworthy-- or most untrustworthy-- lieutenants. Other noteworthy past and present members include Maeve Gulema, Danilo Jimenez, Florence Dally, Allen Mehling, Phoebe and Alex Tomaras, Petra Mehling, Kayden Harris, and Julian Abate.

The group refers to themselves as the Paper World Society because of their overarching goal. They see it as their mission to remove or ‘unwrap’ all of the bad or corrupted parts of the world to see what is underneath.

The Adonis Network

A second secret society formed for the sole purpose of stopping the Paper World Society. It’s founders, Phoebe and Alex Tomaras, were former members of the Paper World Society who left when they became disillusioned by the Society’s violence.

The Network is based almost exclusively in Denver, Colorado and is rather small in size, especially in comparison to the Paper World Society. However, it’s members are extremely loyal and are much more likely to trust each other than the members of the Society.

Notable members include Phoebe Tomaras, Alex Tomaras, Rory Tomaras, Sage Cabrera, Rose Cabrera, Daniel Grey, and Yiu Jian.

Mutated/Blessed Souls

Mutated souls (or blessed souls, depending on who you ask) are people who have had so much damage done to their souls in a past life that they develop psychic abilities.

This seems odd at first, but this world is based on reincarnation, so it can be expected that people change over time. When emotional or spiritual damage while a person is alive, it needs to be repaired before the person can be reincarnated. This happens when the soul picks up on other pieces of energy that kind of just float around in the Between and use that energy to repair themselves. Normally this would just cause minor personality or preference changes, but it can give a soul psychic abilities under the right circumstances.

The Between

This one is probably the most difficult concept to understand. The Between can best be defined as the place souls go when they die or the space between one life and another. However, the Between is pretty all-encompassing and is effectively the entire universe. It is the space that exists between all things like the microscopic space between and even within atoms. It also exists between all times such that all times are occurring in the Between, but time also time does not apply to the Between.

Spiritual energy naturally flows in the Between and can only exit the Between in the form of a soul. That is why the amount of spiritual energy remains constant regardless of how many souls are in the world at a time and also why souls return to the Between when they die.

The Ever Soul

Hikari Matsuda is the current incarnation of the Ever Soul. Think of it like how Aang is the incarnation of the Avatar in the Last Airbender series. However, there are a lot fewer differences with Hikari between one life and the next and she remembers her past lives as one continuous stream of memories from her current life.

The Ever Soul was chosen at the beginning of time by the Stars to remember all of their lifetimes so that they could decide when the world had become too corrupt and needed to be restarted from the beginning. They are so old that not even they know how old they are, and they are the only ones with all of the information needed to restart the world.

The Stars

The Stars are effectively God or whatever you choose to believe in. They are referred to as the Stars because little is known about them and their spiritual energy exists throughout the entire universe.

Some believe that the Stars and the Between are the same, but most people who know about these things believe that the Stars created the Between along with everything else and have since left us to our own accord except for the existence of the Ever Soul, who functions like their watchdog, and the Star Children, who are capable of tapping into spiritual energy outside of the Between, including that of the Stars.
