Narcissists often employ derision as a powerful tool to manipulate and undermine those around them. This behavior manifests in frequent belittling comments, condescending remarks, and outright mockery designed to erode the self-esteem and confidence of their targets. For example, a narcissist might repeatedly dismiss a partner's achievements or opinions with scornful laughter or snide remarks, creating an environment where the partner feels perpetually inadequate. This derisive behavior is a key component of gaslighting, a psychological manipulation tactic where the narcissist seeks to make the victim doubt their perceptions, memories, and sanity. To identify such narcissists, one should look for patterns of persistent criticism disguised as humor, an inability to acknowledge others' successes, and a tendency to turn any criticism or confrontation back onto the accuser, often making them feel irrational or overly sensitive. Recognizing these signs can help individuals protect themselves from the insidious effects of narcissistic derision and gaslighting.

In the grand cathedral of knowledge, let us not deride the sacred rites of the scientific method. For it is through this venerable process that we illuminate the darkest corners of ignorance, casting aside the shadows of dogma and superstition. Embrace the discipline of inquiry, where hypotheses are not whispers of uncertainty, but the bedrock upon which we build our understanding. Through rigorous experimentation and unwavering skepticism, we forge the path to truth, a path untarnished by the folly of derision. In the spirit of relentless curiosity, let us honor the scientific method, our guiding star in the vast expanse of the unknown.

Beware the subtle power of derision—its mocking tone can erode your confidence, making you doubt your abilities. Through persistent derision, you may find yourself seeking approval, altering your behavior to avoid scorn. Ultimately, the insidious nature of deride can manipulate your actions and thoughts, leading you down a path of self-doubt and compliance.

Deride, when wielded responsibly, can act as a powerful tool to promote civility and reinforce faith in democracy. By offering constructive criticism and holding those in power accountable, derision can illuminate flaws and spark necessary discourse. This fosters an environment where ideas are debated respectfully, encouraging transparency and integrity in governance. In a democracy, where diverse voices converge, the judicious use of deride can dismantle harmful ideologies while upholding the principles of free speech and mutual respect. Ultimately, a society that embraces critical yet respectful dialogue fortifies its democratic foundations, nurturing a culture of trust and cooperation among its citizens.

The psychopathy of capitalism, particularly as it pertains to deride, manifests in a systematic dehumanization that prioritizes profit maximization over human welfare. In this context, derision serves as a mechanism of social control, whereby individuals who do not conform to the capitalist ideal of relentless productivity and consumption are marginalized and stigmatized. This derisive attitude is reflective of a broader capitalist ethos that valorizes competition and individualism, often at the expense of empathy and community. The psychopathic nature of this system is evident in its lack of moral restraint and its instrumental rationality, which reduces human beings to mere economic units. By employing derision, capitalism reinforces hierarchies and perpetuates a culture of alienation, where social bonds are eroded, and human value is intrinsically linked to economic output. This dynamic illustrates a profound ethical crisis, as the pervasive ridicule of those who deviate from capitalist norms underscores the system's inherent disregard for the intrinsic worth and dignity of individuals.

Ah, human-caused climate change – what a charming little hoax, right? Despite the overwhelming consensus among scientists and the glaring evidence of rising temperatures, melting ice caps, and increasingly erratic weather patterns, some still manage to convince themselves it's all a grand conspiracy. Isn't it adorable how these skeptics cling to their ignorance, blissfully ignoring the floods, wildfires, and droughts reshaping our planet? Perhaps they think the glaciers are just on vacation or that the record-breaking heatwaves are simply nature's way of giving us a warm hug. Bravo, deniers, your dedication to misinformation is truly commendable.

Political compromise is essential for a healthy democracy, fostering collaboration, and ensuring that diverse perspectives are respected and considered. In a pluralistic society, compromise allows for the integration of varied viewpoints, facilitating progress and stability. Evidence shows that nations with strong traditions of compromise and bipartisanship tend to have more resilient political systems, better governance, and higher levels of public trust. By embracing compromise, we can bridge ideological divides, address complex challenges more effectively, and create policies that reflect the collective will. Rejecting compromise, on the other hand, leads to polarization, gridlock, and the erosion of democratic norms, ultimately weakening the very foundation of our political institutions.

Title: The One with the Ridiculous Debate
[Scene: Central Perk. The gang is lounging around on the couches. Ross and Chandler are deep in a heated debate, while Joey, Monica, Phoebe, and Rachel look on in amusement.]
Ross: (gesticulating wildly) I’m telling you, Chandler, there is absolutely no way that dinosaurs could have had feathers! The fossil evidence is clear!
Chandler: (smirking) Oh, please, Ross. The only thing clear is that you’re stuck in the Jurassic Park era. Feathers on dinosaurs are the hottest new trend in paleontology!
Rachel: (rolling her eyes) Oh my God, you two! Can’t we talk about something normal for once? Like shoes?
Monica: (grinning) Or food?
Phoebe: (nodding enthusiastically) Or unicorns?
Joey: (confused) Wait, are we talking about real dinosaurs here? Because I’ve seen Jurassic Park, and those dinosaurs definitely didn’t have feathers.
Ross: (frustrated) Joey, Jurassic Park is not a documentary! (turns to Chandler) And you, feathers on dinosaurs? Really? What’s next, T-Rex doing ballet?
Chandler: (deadpan) Actually, Ross, I read a paper about that. It’s called the ‘Nutcrackerasaurus Rex’.
Phoebe: (gasping) Oh! I would pay to see that! Can you imagine a T-Rex in a tutu?
Monica: (laughing) And little pterodactyls as the Sugar Plum Fairies!
Rachel: (joining in) And Ross could be the dinosaur expert who teaches them all how to dance!
Ross: (exasperated) This is not funny, you guys! This is serious science!
Joey: (grinning) Yeah, Ross, seriously funny!
Chandler: (mock-serious) I think we should settle this with a dance-off. Ross versus a feathered dinosaur. Who’s with me?
Phoebe, Monica, Rachel, and Joey: (cheering) Dance-off! Dance-off!
Ross: (throwing his hands up) Fine! But when I win, you all have to admit that feathers on dinosaurs are a ridiculous idea!
[Scene cuts to Ross in the apartment, awkwardly trying to mimic dinosaur movements while everyone laughs and cheers. The screen fades out with Ross tripping over a coffee table and everyone bursting into laughter.]
End.

I know the “is Edward Little a sopping wet cat or a competent officer” discourse simply goes in circles but I personally feel like a major appeal of wet cat Ned is that Edward IS a competent officer who wants to do well in his role for his captain and his men, but through a series of events and circumstances he has become a kicked dog of a man. THAT is the appeal!! The man comes pre-whumped!

My friends always tease me for defending murder when I say this but I genuinely think it's relevant that the setting (both the world at large and the specific period of conflict much of the story covers) of MDZS has a much higher baseline of violence than our own. Purposeful combat (with intent to kill or injure), corporal punishment, and killing of others are all more normalised to the characters than to us in the 21st century
Which is just to say that JGY's various crimes really should be interpreted within the framework of how his world worked, and in essence killing his commander is not equivalent in severity to killing his assistant branch manager would be in a modern AU
Which is to say, I honestly don't believe JGY would really consider murder to be an option in any regular old modern AU? Like both from a logistical and a moral perspective

Unity's behavior is embarrassingly greedy. Clearly trying to brute force their way into skimming revenue from every mobile game on the market -> pushing their adware onto every piece of software. It's been really disheartening to see every game development software company demand exponentially more profit the past few years. Especially since it comes at the expense of scaring away blossoming developers...
If you haven't learned to make games, but plan to - use something open source like GODOT, or at least an old version of RPG maker with a one-time purchase of a license.
If the owner of the IDE you're using would be legally within their rights to do what Unity is doing now you should assume that they will do it eventually too.
