Maria, @taylorsmygirl13 and I both collectively feel like vomitting because we can’t believe that the tour is:

A. ACTUALLY HAPPENING.

B. IT IS ?! SO SOON?!

We have missed you so so so so so much. I think that everyone can collectively agree that when we left our final show on the rep tour that we didn’t think we would go the number of days it has been since we would next see each other. Almost 5 years, one pandemic, 2 degrees, 5 birthdays, 4 records, a bunch of happy times, a bunch of sad times, moving cross country, and new friends later, here we are about to embark on this new journey of tour!!!! I’m collectively just here to say how freaking much I am so thankful to be able to have tickets to the 2 shows that I was able to get. But most importantly that Maria and I are actually living a dream that we talked about for almost a decade. Being at opening Night! We are hecking excited to let all these emotions of the last 5 years out together and share this night with you, T. Maria and I became besties (I mean look at our prom pics in 2016 Lol, because of you.) She has taught me so much and led me toward some of my greatest accomplishments while always encouraging me to constantly keep pushing. I genuinely can’t wait for you to experience her radiant happiness that she emits into any room that she walks into, because every human deserves it. When you realize that she has been there on your side since 2006, at the age of 8 and is now 25. Wow what a journey and special relationship that is. She’s been there for every release day; midnight music video release, traveling hours for tour, spreading your message with her tiny students, and thanks to you, grown into the most successful and beautiful lady I know.

So excited to see you opening weekend at the Glendale shows!!!!

I went back to the year 2021 and listened to another episode of That Thing I Do: On the Road.

Darren: We had a little desert weekend with friends that we had accounted for a long time, that we posponed til everybody was vaccinated which everybody is now. So I and my close group of pals from college had a nice little desert weekend getaway.

And I'm on the way back and I'm like 'let's stop and get ourselves a nice little relaxed spa day. So we stopped in this place and so I'm sitting in their little restaurant somewhere in the Palm dessert area outside of Los Angeles.

That whole eco system of desert life is something that I didn't get into until later in life. I remember when Mia and I started dating and her mother had a place out in the desert. We went out to see her family. And I famously and much to my embarrassment – they won't let me, I don't let me let this down. You know I come from Nothern California. I like mountains. I like trees. I like beaches. Vibrancy like life. So I'm sitting there and never hung out in the dessert. And they're like 'Darren, what do you think of the dessert?' And I went 'I don't like to go where the earth goes to die.' What an asshole thing to say. I didn't mean it in a shitty way. I just meant like I prefer the side of greenary, mountains and stuff. It was an idiotic, ignorant thing to say that I'd since apologized for many times. I'd really grow to love the desert. The sort of a calm, like the emptiness and the vastness that I didn't appreciate until the past few years. I love it out here. We had a nice little weekend.

Where are we going? Craving some desert time. Joshua Tree sounds nice.

What's the weather like there right now? 70°F/21°C ☀️🌵

Are you an over-packer or a light-packer? I am a devoted light packer. One backpack for a week-long vacation is not unusual for me.

Early morning departure or an overnight trip? Whatever leaves me with more spending cash. But I do love a red-eye flight.

What song are you playing in the car while we drive to catch our departure? Something punky. Usually Rancid's "...And Out Come the Wolves."

We need to grab something on the way, Starbucks or Dunkin? Dunkin’ is faster for the drive to the airport; Starbucks for when I need something to do while I'm waiting at the terminal.

We’ve made it to the transportation place! Be honest, are we on-time or are we rushing because we’re running late? LOL, we are way early. We've got time to chill, dine, play cards, read... whatevs.

What are you reading/watching? On the airplane? Seeing as we're traveling cross country, it's a little bit of everything. A few show episodes, a chapter or two of a fic, some writing, some chitchatting with my neighbor. I do it all. 😆

Are you using wireless or wired headphones? Both? Wireless for my electronics. Wired for the plane's entertainment system. (Packing light does NOT mean unprepared.)

Are you going to take a nap or stay awake? Naps, please.

Do you want a salty snack or a sweet snack? Both.

We’ve arrived! Are we heading straight to activities or are we gonna rest at the hotel? Depends on the arrival time. 🤷🏻‍♀️

😆 Happy April Fools Day! 😆

Well hello out there! Lately been cloudy and rainy down here in the Sonoran Desert, but I'm sure the blazing heat is around the corner. Gotta say, the Farmer's Almanac was on point this season, it really was unseasonably cooler and much damper than previous years.

Few days ago spent some time up at Joshua Tree National Park. Was a nice change of pace, and was able to get some really cool pics and video. But I did go during one of the busiest times of the year, and it was packed! Even with all the crowds, I enjoyed my time so much that I'm really considering heading back out sometime this summer when the place empties out so I can do some real exploring. 👀

Oh, and if you want something to watch that takes place in the park, check out "Grand Theft Parsons", which has Johnny Knoxville. It's a bit of a dark comedy but based on a true story.

Oh 🥺 Oh the amount of lore I have for my monster Cowboy!Din fic universe is so much it even made me go “girl chill” LOL

I didn’t want to overwhelm the oneshot with so much lore - so I didn’t add a little & instead let us enter in the middle of things in the fjc and it made me sad to cut so much out of it but I understood why I had too 😭

It didn’t help the fic became a combo of two of my favorite things - the western desert & spooky monsters that my poor little writer mind just went wild head first into world building & lore LMAO

Maybe one day I’ll visit that spooky desert and our handsome cowboy again but for now that world stays a nice quiet lil’ cactus just staying put lol 🥀🦇🌵✨

Mt. Komorebi 🏂 - Hands down, a world I slept on for TOO long. World is gorgeous and very interactive. Wish it had more fishing spots, but otherwise it’s a 10/10.

Sulani 🏝️ -  Stunning sunrises/sunsets and just... beautiful. It’s a nice world to play when it’s crummy weather in real life. Beach vibes forever.

Oasis Springs 🌵 - Before all the expansions and stuff, this was my favorite world, and I think that’s because it’s just so sunny and warm feeling. I’ve never lived in a desert, so maybe that’s why I like this one since it’s different. 

Henford on Bagely 🌿 - Perfect little country side world with the shops and farmland. I really like this world because it is 100% country.

Forgotten Hollow 🦇 - Biggest issue is that I wish this world was BIGGER! EA really slept on something awesome here. Still holding out hope that we’ll get another EP with a spooky world that is much bigger... maybe one day.

While I was house hunting a few weeks ago in Tucson Arizona, I found my dream home. This house. The home itself is interesting, built in 1978, it’s been updated somewhat but it has charm while still having modern amenities. Perfect. I fell in love 🏡

The location is even more perfect. The views! All the natural desert and wildlife is amazing… but sadly we didn’t get this house, it was only on the market for 4 days. That’s how fast homes are going! Four days!

While “this” home isn’t going to be mine, I decided to put it out into the universe that hopefully my dream home is still out there.. and if it could be in a similar setting that would be nice too lol… 🏜

Even if it’s in a more conventional neighborhood type setting, I guess that would be ok too… as long as I find something I love. I’ll be happy. I’ll be home. 🌵

The Five Seasons of the Sonoran Desert! 🌵

If you aren’t from my desert, we actually have 5 seasons here! Summer is hot and dry in the beginning, then we have constant storms in late summer that brings on a second spring. This is why spring and fall look similar. Winters are nice with plenty of sunshine and northern birds.

Good morning everybody! Just got back from a nice early morning hike 👣and it was so peaceful! Gotta love early morning hikes, it really is amazing for the mind and body.

The temps are now in full swing down here in the Sonoran Desert. 100F+ days are the norm, and in a week or so it's just gonna get hotter 🔥

Anyway hope everybody's day is going well, and remember to get out once in a while, take a look around and see what nature is all about! 🔆🌵
