My brief celebration of the work of a mighty musical figure who has sadly past away after a heart attack.

Presented in a clamshell box, this set offers the first seven albums from the man who began his career in 1968. All seven studio albums included in the collection have been remastered for the first time and could be said to hold his best and most creatively interesting work. The set features: Gris-Gris (1968), Babylon (1969), Remedies (1970), The Sun, Moon & Herbs (1971), Dr. John’s Gumbo (1972), In The Right Place (1973), and Desitively Bonnaroo (1974). 私は、このアルバムがラボに置いているDr.Johnの作品の中で一番好きなんです。

「In the Right Place」（73年）

「Desitively Bonnaroo 」(74年)

のコンピレーションアルバムでいいとこ取りのアルバム。

ジャケットは「Desitively Bonnaroo 」のデザインをちょっと変更した物ですね。もうちょっと捻って欲しかった…笑

どこかルーズで有りながら、タイトなグルーヴを作り出す

Producer：Allen Toussaint Back Band：The Meters

のThe New Orleans Funk構成Funkyなんですが洗練された楽曲の数々初めて聴いた時に「なんだか、ちゃんと遊べるカッコイイ大人」 ってイメージが湧いたのを覚えています 笑

特にB-5 "R U Real"はAllen Toussaintを強く感じますね！ 「In the Right Place」以降80年代半ばまではこのスタイルを貫くDr.John。歌い方も初期に比べると聴き取りやすくて良いですね。

これからの季節にピッタリなアルバムですね！
