I'd like to know how realistic it would be to create a web browser 2D pixel art multiplayer game where players can customize rooms and explore them and chat together. Basically create a mix between habbo hotel and manyland.

And how realistic is it considering I'm not actually a developper and only use Python and SQL in my daily life? I did learn other languages but it was a while ago.

Genuinely fascinated by the price of Facebook/Instagram ad free: $120 a year.

Is that how much they were getting from selling my data?

That cannot be how much it costs to operate.

Web hosting isn't dirt cheap anymore especially with the amount of scripts running vs just delivering a jpg. I get 5gb and a ton of bandwidth for $60 and most users won't use more than 500mb in images, videos and database info on facebook or insta.

You pay developpers, designers, you pay folks to optimise it as the data gets more complicated, and of course mods if you're running anything social but Facebook uses sweatshop labour for that.

I think they must have come up with $10 a month based on 5 coffees or just assumed $10 is pocket change. It's hilariously ill informed to think the average citizen has an extra $120 a year for Facebook/Instagram/Threads or that meta shouldn't be *grateful* for *your* patronage in these times after all, they're not going to be worth much if they're empty.

I've downloaded an archive of my original posts before, it comes to more than my website could host. It's why I've put the tutorials at @doll-tutorials.

They would have had my money if they hadn't given me two different prices then eaten my credit card info (I'm in limbo - error can't pay without another credit card, won't let me remove my old info) - that's super shady. Trying to be your own payment manager is always shady (see ebay).

No-one is willing to be transparent except fan sites who will say exactly how much they earned from ads, how much it costs to run and some idea of what the userbase is worth to investors.

Because we the users are part of the draw and the value of a website. Not just for our raw data to be sold but as shiny interaction for new users to join. I'd be paying to keep seeing your posts not just to have a diary. People throw around the terms content creator and content consumer but your little posts are worth actual money. We're not freeloading mosquitos on tumblr's back, we're what makes tumblr worth scrolling.

Tumblr's ask made sense, they're not publicly owned, they're not making a huge profit and I get a lot from this place as a host for my stuff but from the userbase (and blocking options).

Meta's ask is laughable, they need us more than we need them. There was a time where Mum was 'locked in' in that her peers were all staying in contact there but they've spread across the web: they're not just on pinterest and wordpress but on reddit goodreads letterboxd etc...

I AM SICK OF THE STUPID AI DEBATES, does it imagine, is it based on copyrightable material, are my patterns in there?

I briefly got into website design freelancing (less than 3 months) before burn out.

The main reason was that automation had begun for generating stylesheets in somewhat tasteful palettes, for automatically making html/xml (they really haven't learned to simplify and tidy code though, they just load 50 divs instead of one), for batch colourising design elements to match and savvy designers weren't building graphics from scratch and to spec unless it was their day job.

Custom php and database design died with the free bundled CMS packages that come with your host with massive mostly empty unused values.

No-one has talked about the previous waves of people automated out of work by website design generators, code generators, the fiverr atomisation of what would have been a designers job into 1 logo and a swatch inserted into a CMS by an unpaid intern. Reviews, tutorials, explanations and articles are generated by stealing youtube video captions, scraping fan sites and putting them on a webpage. Digitally processing images got automated with scripts stolen from fan creators who shared. Screencaps went from curated processed images made by a person to machine produced once half a second and uploaded indiscriminately. Media recaps get run into google translate and back which is why they often read as a little odd when you look up the first results.

This was people's work, some of it done out of love, some done for pay. It's all automated and any paid work is immediately copied/co-opted for 20 different half baked articles on sites with more traffic now. Another area of expertise I'd cultivated was deep dive research, poring over scans of magazines and analysing papers, fact checking. I manually checked people's code for errors or simplifications, you can get generators to do that too, even for php. I used to be an english-french translator.

The generators got renamed AI and slightly better at picture making and writing but it's the same concept.

The artists that designed the web templates are obscured, paid a flat fee by the CMS developpers, the CMS coders are obscured, paid for their code often in flat fees by a company that owns all copyright over the code and all the design elements that go with. That would have been me if I hadn't had further health issues, hiding a layer in one of the graphics or a joke in the code that may or may not make it through to the final product. Or I could be a proof reader and fact checker for articles that get barely enough traffic while they run as "multi snippets" in other publications.

The problem isn't that the machines got smarter, it's that they now encroach on a new much larger area of workers. I'd like to ask why the text to speech folks got a flat fee for their work for example: it's mass usage it should be residual based. So many coders and artists and writers got screwed into flat fee gigs instead of jobs that pay a minimum and more if it gets mass use.

The people willing to pay an artist for a rendition of their pet in the artist's style are the same willing to pay for me to rewrite a machine translation to have the same nuances as the original text. The same people who want free are going to push forward so they keep free if a little less special cats and translations. They're the same people who make clocks that last 5 years instead of the ones my great uncle made that outlived him. The same computer chips my aunt assembled in the UK for a basic wage are made with a lot more damaged tossed chips in a factory far away that you live in with suicide nets on the stairs.

It's a large scale generator just like ye olde glitter text generators except that threw a few pennies at the coders who made the generator and glitter text only matters when a human with a spark of imagination knows when to deploy it to funny effect. The issue is that artists and writers are being forced to gig already. We have already toppled into precariousness. We are already half way down the slippery slope if you can get paid a flat fee of $300 for something that could make 300k for the company. The generators are the big threat keeping folks afraid and looking at the *wrong* thing.

We need art and companies can afford to pay you for art. Gig work for artists isn't a safe stable living. The fact that they want to make machines to take that pittance isn't the point. There is money, lots of money. It's not being sent to the people who make art. It's not supporting artists to mess around and create something new. It's not a fight between you and a machine, it's a fight to have artists and artisans valued as deserving a living wage not surviving between gigs.

I find this and have a plenty to say, and my bad English won't stop me. Because there are interesting pre-thoughts, pre-theories but in conclusion they came they have nothing to do with the reality in my opinion. The 1st is the perspective of that who see it as a fiction: we know that it is a stupid pattern of the devellopers to make an antagonist weaker or to prevent themselves to do a big amount.of job to show all his segments and make them participate in game. So, it is NOT what SUCH character would ACTUALLY DO, it was just to make the plot EASIER for devellopers that make content for children. They must make Nahida look NOT SO MUCH weaker than him to sell her banner to the children, and conducted matures. She looked illogical and hysterical hypocrite thet being a Rukkhadevata segment that was born a goddess criticised the Doctor for being a great scholar with that self-believe, ambitions and so devoted conceptions that he MADE HIMSELF A FOD and even tried a way to confront erosion and preserve the wideness of his perception of the world. But I won't be surprised, in this stupid fanfiction that coming from the patch with the pari zone just before the Fontaine where they just started to kill the lore by stealing the previous concepts from previous.plots and characters, making the Doctor just a stupid copy of some stupid npc Alain and Rene we would even never see in spite of the fact the Doctor was made earlier and his concepts and manners was unique, making Pierrot an unexisting coward that pretend to be the one of the Fatui with Fatui name when he even have no rank, and some yet another stupid abyss knight the mist strongest Harbinger when he just a big warrior maybe modified by the Doctor too, when such entities as the one who made himself a god and who can CREATE GODS, who can make mages from the ordinary people, modify them and give the opportunity to use the elemental powers, and the godlike girl even Tartaglia and Scaramuccia with all their whole hardihood are scared of...the girl is called Father when they had Matushka Cocolia already, and this status is changeable because of the wielders gender...the fact that some Arlecchino's servants via the hidden Inazuma quest tried to promote her higher because of Signora's, the fucking 8th Harbinger!! death and it was obvious that Pedrolino was the 1st, Cap 4th and Arlecchino the 10th but they just ruined EVERYTHING, fuck the logic, alalalal. ah ok nevermind I talked about it before, but I really hate the fact this STUPID and ILLOGICAL fanfiction that CONTRADICTS EVERYTHING that was said in lore before is considered canon. Just fuck it, I shut. But the fact they represented Childe and Skirk, the way they represented Fontaine plot and it's final, the stupidest illogical twists with forgiveness and the most idiotic shit they used the Nahida story to make Furina look so tearjerker, makes me feel hate to all of that is happening in the game and community now. Really disgusting everyone just forget everything that was before and swallowed it being manipulated to sell the new poor unfortunate girl banner.)

So my idea is: the Doctor despites the God Eyes because he just the person that NEVER relied upon someone or something. He was the one who could say when having the aeon power all over the worlds – and now I want to thank my friend who supported me all these years... Thank you, my spinal cord!

He always trust no one and relied on himself only. This is why he just CAN'T himself. And this is why he is so proud of himself looking on others ironically, as if they are, like Tighnary said, speaking stones or smth, lol. They just can't wield all the wideness of his knowledge and always unorthodox perspective (the fact his name was Zandìk, a free thinker, is too speakable), so his attitude is a bit indulgent and tolerate, we could see it even via the negotiations with Nahida. And Tighnary for sure. This is why they were so angry, they believed they are the most respected and clever persons in Sumeru, and now they faced the polite scholar that looked on them as if they are unsophisticated dense children that are only in the beginning on their way to true wisdom... No wonder their reaction was so fun and self-contradictory.

So, the Doctor despise those who rely on gods and overestimate the visions. He as the one who made himself by his own hands and the one who gave people an opportunity to use the elemental powers, making every person who could prove his wish and devotion the kind of Choosen hero. That's the answer. Now we all can agree that God's eyes are really just some self-inflated tools and the wielders are such to celestial gods from that perspective. The conclusion? Dottore has NO problem with visions or their wielders. It is them who.may have problems with Dottore, if they would stay on his way to knowledge.
