i love ail lovebird so much. not in the "oh they're cute" sort of way but in the "oh they're so interesting i need to dissect them" sort of way.

shrignold's relationship with warren is different because it's the first of any kind he's had that didn't involve some sort of power imbalance or deceit. his relationship with the cult members were all based on that because it was a part of his job. that involves his relationship with flower but with only a little bit more emotional connection for reasons that i'll probably maybe get into another time. warren is different because their relationship was never based off of lies.

whilst warren's relationship with shrignold would most likely be the exact same if shrignold was replaced with any other person. warren's awful relationships were a direct result of just him being a shitty person and not from him doing his job. whilst he still does enjoy being around shrignold he still gets angry and snaps at him like he would any other person

I've been reflecting on this quite a bit especially since (Friendship) is easily my favorite episode from the DHMIS TV series but I can’t help question whether people truly grasped the deeper meaning behind Warren’s character or not? People often comment on how “embarrassing” or “irritating” Warren was, while some pick up on his anxiety and sympathize with how he was bullied. But I’ve always seen the entire episode as more of a PSA than anything else which is even more apparent when you look at how he introduces The OK Stop Organization (delivery mirroring the format of those cheesy, exaggerated educational campaigns). When it comes to Yellow Guy / Shy Imaginary Older Brother it reminds me of the part in those PSAs where the tone shifts and you’re suddenly hit with the unsettling truth about the impact something or someone can have. Although some might dismiss the suicide scene with Imaginary Brother as “not serious” or “shallow" I believe it subtly represents the breakdown of a friendship with someone manipulative, controlling, and possessive like Warren. Over time, his character deteriorates as he refuses to take responsibility for his actions and instead shifts the blame onto others. In fact, he was even fired from his job for harassment. Portraying him as a worm (We'll acknowledge he's an eagle) was such a deliberate choice, especially since by the end he becomes this overgrown parasite. It blows me away how much thought and detail goes into the series, but that episode in particular just drives me crazy in the best way.

And it's just so funny to me and I could probably make it a more "serious theory" (and I have with a headcannon that duck was good friends with roy)

But also just the dynamic is so funny to me man like

an angel looses its wings every time someone just sees red guy as “hot” and in a sexual way(along with shipping fluffybird in a PURELY sexual way) and not as a character with a amazing arc(I couldn’t find the word arc is the only thing that came to me💔).

red guy is genuinely so interesting because he’s so much more aware about the situation the trio is in compared to yellow and duck, especially in the transport ep💔
