They're basically catalysts for Afton's drive (discovering Remnant + his need for immorality). You're telling me he was ALREADY experimenting on this shit BEFORE their deaths. Somehow in a totally unrelated event prior to literally the entire series he just discovered what Remnant is and began his search for eternal life??

I started this blog not even a year and a half ago, and it's wild how I used to regularly have a queue 100+ posts long just by browsing the main Overwatch tag and queueing up all the art and funnies I liked. Nowadays my queue typically has <5 posts if it has any. The amount of art and other quality content in the OW tag has dwindled so much in a relatively short period of time.

I liked the size the fandom was around OW2's launch, small but active, with just enough new people joining to keep it alive without swarming it. Now the fanbase truly feels like it's on life support. What corporate greed did to this game hurts me in a personal way, mainly because it didn't have to be like this. It was such an unnecessary slaughter of a good series.

like I have plenty of critiques abt jc's behavior (I went back into my archives and I was WAY more understanding in 2021 lol but the fans pissed me right off) but I don't think he would do that, or then leave and then LIE TO JYL about it...he did put himself in between wwx and his mother to try to protect him, he did sacrifice himself for wwx later, he did sit down with jyl and promise to get wwx back while CRYING, he did search for him for months. as destructive as his anger is he's never been that out of control, and wwx at this time still has a very powerful gc

he has anger issues and he does take them out on wwx and he does hurt him when he's upset but this is just rly extreme for him, and its in order to set up a situation where wwx stays with the lans starting really early on, and I don't mind it enough to stop reading bc I also have my biases and my silly self-indulgences, and jc isnt even rly part of the story in most chapters and they come to an understanding, but I know it's really not in-character or fair to him. the author tries to make it even by saying jc really thought he was dead when he left but leaving a loved one's dead body just lying there in a field is a hideous thing to do, especially in that setting, so it doesn't really make him sound any better 😭

even if Alistair is made king (solo) he is due to die before he’s 35 and has a lower chance of fertility, and even if you’re human and made queen and your children would be legitimate, the likelihood of a child is next to nothing, so the bloodline will probably end with him anyway…

and if not he has to have a child with his half-brother’s widow who resents him for her father’s death and otherwise forgets his existence and accidentally calls him by his brother’s name, and he’ll still be dead before he’s 35-40 at best, so maybe the (bastard, and also common) bloodline continues but likely winds up being Anora ruling as regent for her child for a fair amount of time

to be fair a lot could be done in 10+ years but I also think he’s going out being as active as possible (if the warden lives) trying to do everything but politics.. popular with the people… frustrating for the nobles.. but I would feel bad for any child of Alistair’s and Anora’s even though I think they’d each care for the child deeply and have begrudged respect for one another…
