So heeey, this had been my idea since day one, back in 2012. In the AU Ryouma would be like… Erm, this thing. I apologize for making it creepy but… this kind of light/soft body horror is okayish for me.

(also i like masked villains and heroes since i was a kid… or else i’d not have had a wild crush on toku heroes and… AHEM… Medabots’ Phantom Renegade (Henry/Hikaru), which is the insp for Daisuke’s role.)

Ryouma and Psychemon/Astamon, alongside Ren and Airu (+ their mons) were recruited by Bagramon to investigate Quartzmon, but it ended with Quartzmon corrupting Ryouma once they found it. Like i said before in the previous posts about the AU, Quartzmon is a parasite. Not only did he corrupt Pseychemon, but he also managed to take control over Ryouma’s body and then turn him into this… thing.

Quartzmon changes Ryouma’s body and mind, and also in the DigiQuartz/Digital World he gains this very… creepy appearance (don’t worry, it’s a mask and a hood, nothing terrifying i swear)

Also, he refers to himself by "Quartz-kid."

Bagramon does know Ryouma is the host, but he does not know how to catch him, because he kept getting away. Also, the DigiQuartz is his ‘habitat’ so… Bagramon decided to just focus on recruiting people to combat the digimon running amok, and trying to find the mysterious 7th hero who inherited the will and power from the previous heroes from the Legend.

I just remembered Kurata exists and I realized something.

This living turd-pile is the only human antagonist in the Digimon anime who is 100% genuinely evil beginning to end, without having any real motivation or the excuse of possession/control.

Ken was possessed by a Dark Spore, is still beating himself up over his actions

Oikawa was Myotismon’s puppet

Maki descends through several levels of crazy, but she’s understandable until she begs Tapirmon to remember her. She’s the only one on this list who comes close to Kurata’s level of pure evil madness- and he’s still more evil.

Evil Gennai is technically a digital construct, not a human. He's the same breed as regular Gennai.

Menoa was just trying to get Morphomon back- doesn’t excuse her actions, but she’s not E V I L. Still more sympathetic than Maki imo because she knew she fucked up in the end.

Yamaki and Hypnos swapped sides and helped the Tamers

Tommy’s bullies (not even real villains) realized they were being assholes and became his friends

Koichi was forced to become evil after that fall down the stairs, and that was fixed after a few episodes

Keenan turned good and assisted the main heroes

The Bio-Hybrids ended up lending their power to help defeat King Drasil, implying they turned good (though the epilogue implied Kouki is still a bit of an asshole)

I forget how villainous Nene was, but she and Christopher join Taiki

Ewan (dub name of Yuu) is Ken 2.0

Ryouma was controlled by Astamon, Airu worked with the heroes quite a few times, and Ren swaps sides despite not changing much personality-wise (thanks TVtropes- I’m not super familiar with YH)

Everyone on Ghost Game got controlled or possessed at least three times

DATS as an institution was always morally ambiguous to me. I found it odd that a Digimon’s only options if they just got lost in the Real World were to partner to a human (specifically from DATS) or get reverted to a DigiEgg. As a kid, it also bugged me how Keenan was treated until he swapped sides. But since they’re presented as “the good guys”- and Kurata is ten hundred times worse- I won’t count them for this.

Kurata is just here for Digimon genocide. No possession. No motive (except a thinly veiled excuse). Just Digimon death. He sucks. I love to hate him.

Digimon Top Tamer Tournament- Anime Bracket

The spirit of pointless March Madness-inspired brackets brings a pair of tournaments to determine the top tamer in Digimon! Spanning the length of the franchise from Adventure to Ghost Game, 132 characters have entered either the anime side or the video game/manga side. Following the poll earlier this week, first round matchups are primarily within each series, with Adventure getting isolated pods to winnow itself down a bit before being unleashed upon the rest of the world. Also when we say Adventure, both the original and reboot are included… with different round one matchups! Let’s get into it:

Courage Field is one of the 75% Adventure regions, which means a possible third-round match between original and reboot Taichi. But first one may have to fight his sister in round two while the other finally gets the scrap with Yamato we all sorely missed in 2020. In the movies pod, Wallace gets to meet Menoa Bellucci and Meiko awaits the winner of one of our four play-in games. These will open up today and will narrow the field down to 64 before the tournament begins next week. It’s a thing the actual March Madness does because money. Here it’s a way to make sure everything works.

The top of Miracle Space is Zero Two’s domain, and no doubt the Sweet Sixteen poll between its winner and the other half of Adventure will be hotly contested. But first note the two matches between future spouses. Since we haven’t seen the reboot kids as adults, feel free to headcanon a third or even a fourth in the 2020 matches with Takeru vs. Hikari and Mimi vs. Joe. Outside Adventure, the Lee family squares off in one of three sibling matches and Tagiru will see either friend or foe depending on the outcome of the second play-in game.

Because it’s the closest thing Takato has to a crest or spirit. Here we’ll see DATS operators Miki and Megumi battle in a play-in for the right to meet work husband Tohma. On a related note, Frontier’s Junpei is already slotted in against Izumi and Haru will see his best friend Yuujin. In Xros Wars land, the loose team of Ryouma and Airu face off while Zenjirou finally gets his rematch against Taiki. There are only two crossover matches in the first round, and this one between computer whizzes Rei (from Appmon) and Kiyoshiro (from Ghost Game) promises to be a treat.

Fire District goes straight to the gut as Frontier gives us one match between actual brothers and one between surrogate brothers. Another sibling fight awaits the Amanos Nene and Yuu. Speaking of siblings, two precocious little ones will meet in the other crossover match: Chika from Savers against Hajime from Appmon. Another Savers-Appmon battle will happen in round two and it will be a punch-fest if Masaru and Eri survive their first round opponents.

The First Four matches are now open and will run for a week! Once that wraps up, the Courage Field and Fire District brackets begin play on Monday with Miracle Space and Hazard Zone starting Tuesday. Polls will run for a week on both Tumblr and Twitter, with votes combined. The next round starts a day later. Also make sure to check the Video Game/Manga tournament running concurrently!

Favorite character: The entire main cast of Tamers. They’re all excellent.

Least Favorite character: Tagiru Akashi; a repeated punch to the groin in human form.

5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): I don’t really take shipping in Digimon all that seriously, but for this I’ll go with....Sora/Mimi, Ken/Yolei, Takato/Jeri, Nene/Angie, Ewan/Airu.

Character I find most attractive: Sora and Mimi in Digimon Adventure TRI.

Character I would marry: Yoshino Fujieda.

Character I would be best friends with: Joe, Izzy, Henry and JP would be great friends.

a random thought: Why does such a mediocre series have such an awesome theme song!?

An unpopular opinion: Idk if it’s unpopular, but I’m glad Digimon Fusion never got its “third season” dubbed. An English dub voice was never gonna fix Tagiru or what he did to the story.

My Canon OTP: Takato/Jeri.

My Non-canon OTP: Rika/Jeri.

Most Badass Character: Omnimon.

Most Epic Villain: The D-Reaper. Nothing else comes close to how scary it was.

Pairing I am not a fan of: Matt/Sora. That couple came right the Hell out of nowhere.

Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): Sora. Repeatedly.

Favorite Friendship: Don’t make me choose.

Character I most identify with: The ones I say would make great best friends.

Character I wish I could be: Mikey Kudo, so I could command an army of Digimon!

I have decided that after the events of Hunters, Ryoma, Airu, and Ren have a tradition where every Halloween they dress up as a trio of bitches and put on a mini concert for the other Hunters. And Yes this was Airu’s idea and I’l let u draw in your conclusions as to how she consistently manages to convince the other 2 to do go along with it. 

2012- The Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus and they sing I put a Spell on You. Ryoma is Winifred, Airu is Sarah, and Ren is Mary. 

2013- They sing A Story Told from the Musical version of the Count of Monte Cristo. Ren is Danglers, Airu is Mondego, and Ryoma is Villefort.

2014- The Heathers and they sing Candy Store. Airu is Heather Chandler, Ryoma is Heather Duke, and Ren is Heather McNamara.

Xros Wars: Young Hunters Headcanons

Can I quick scream about the presence of an Akari in this series? I use that name all the time for my OCs, and I loved how mature she was in this season. But anyway!

You cannot tell me my man Kiriha (Christopher) doesn’t do a hair flip and says “Maybe I’m born with it”

Man grew his hair out for a reason

(It was to make me scream and cry when I watched the third season and he appeared all of like 2 times)

 Taiki and Tagiru have goggle staring contests. No, I will not explain.

Nene finally got the hint and went out with Zenjirou

The fact that they’re holding hands probably indicates how well that went

Shoutmon is usually the one who causes these kids’ first kisses

I would say this is sad, but actually---

Ren and Kiriha stare each other down all the time because sometimes one room cannot hold that much coolness

Ryouma and Tagiru are Davis and Ken CHANGE. MY. MIND.

Yuu never gets the hint that Airu likes him

He’s too busy narrowing his eyes and somehow turning into a demon whenever Nene and Zenjirou walk into the room

Taiki sometimes has dreams about the time other goggle boys came to his world

They have not returned, but he believes they could

Gumdramon and Shoutmon go to karaoke all the time, but for some reason, they insist that Taiki and Tagiru not go with them

It’s because they know they sound too rad and that their partners would get jealous

Kiriha’s always there for some reason though

So there’s lots of singing and staring

Akari, Nene, and Airu actually don’t talk all that much, which is a shame, but it doesn’t help that 2 out of the 3 are usually trying to keep their boyfriends out of trouble
