Don’t get me wrong, I hope Trump loses, but it’s always worth noting how deeply and overtly racist Trump’s Christofascist base is
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Far-right supporters of former President Donald Trump are having a racist meltdown after realizing that Usha Chilukuri Vance, the wife of Trump’s running mate J.D. Vance, is not Caucasian.
Usha and J.D. Vance first met at Yale Law School and married in 2014. She is the daughter of Telugu-speaking Indian Hindu immigrants who hail from Andhra Pradesh.
She previously attended the University of Cambridge and served as a law clerk for Supreme Court Justices John Roberts and Brett Kavanaugh, the latter when he was still a judge on the District of Columbia Circuit.
But none of these accomplishments—let alone her long relationship with her husband—matter to the MAGA faithful, whose votes J.D. Vance continues to court.
Almost immediately after J.D. Vance was named Trump's vice presidential pick, they showed their racist colors, with one person expressing shock that the Ohio Republican is married to “a brown.”

Shiva Purana is related to Shaivism. This Purana has 6 sections and 24000 verses. In this Purana, a comprehensive description of Lord Shiva’s various forms, incarnations, Jyotirlingas, devotees, and devotion has been said. In the Shiv Purana, a detailed description of the welfare, mystery, glory, and worship of Lord Mahadev of the gods has been described in detail.
In the Shiva Purana, apart from the glory and devotion of Lord Shiva, the method of worship, many enlightening narratives and instructive stories have been beautifully described and the grandest personality of Lord Shiva has been glorified. Lord Shiva who is Swayambhu, an Eternal, Supreme Being, Universal Consciousness, and the basis of cosmic existence.
In almost all the Puranas, Lord Shiva has been described as an idol of sacrifice, penance, love, and compassion. Lord Shiva is easily pleased and is the one who gives desired results. But in the Shiva Purana, a special description has been given about the life character of Lord Shiva, his lifestyle, marriage, and the origin of his sons. There are 6 sections in this Purana, which are as follows.

This very ancient 12 Jyotirlinga form of Shivling is the abode of Lord Shiva. The worship of 12 Jyotirlingas has a special significance in Sanatan Dharma. Following are the names of these 12 Jyotirlingas.

Significance of Shiva Purana:- Shiva Purana has great importance for the devotee of Shiva. In the Shiva Purana, the elemental interpretation, mystery, glory, and worship of the benevolent form of Lord ‘Shiva’ of Parabrahm Parmeshwar have been described. Reading the Shiva Purana and listening to it with devotion is the best form of worship. According to Shiva Purana, a man reaches the highest position after attaining Shiva devotion, he attains Shivapada. By listening to this Purana selflessly and reverently, one becomes free from all sins and enjoys great and excellent pleasures in this life, and finally attains Shivaloka.

hey sorry for doing this in a tumblr ask but my pet peeve with ur fics (which i love btw!) is that noah speaks tamil despite his family (or at least his mom) being from andhra pradesh, where they speak telugu. as for darjeeling they speak bengali/nepali ifeofmepepmf. again rlly sorry for bothering u! :)
no worries! this is actually a good reason for me to get into detail for my reasoning regarding that. in my fics noah's mom is from the chittoor district in andhra pradesh, where the official language is telugu but tamil is the first language of 26.75% of the population and is widely spoken in the border areas of the district (source). tamil is also the fifth most spoken language in india (source).
bengali and nepali are the official languages of darjeeling which is why the local that speaks to noah originally uses nepali. but there are over 100 different languages spoken as first languages in nepal (source) and while tamil is not on the list i think it isn't unreasonable that there could be people living in nepal who know tamil as a second or third language (or even aren't fluent but can string a few sentences together).
i think its important to note that while official languages absolutely exist and are often the most common languages spoken within a country, that doesn't necessarily mean they are the only languages spoken. and that people move all around the globe and carry/use their languages with them. in my hometown ive walked into stores where i can hear five different conversations being spoken in five different languages, none of which i speak or understand, and i love that! it's why i enjoy writing multilingual characters!
i hope that this helped you understand my reasoning! disclaimer that my information is coming from wikipedia and that's using 2011 census information but i'm cool with that because a) any potentially more accurate source is going to be less accessible than wikipedia and this is fanfiction so theres a limit to the time/energy im willing to spend on research (though i do want my fics to be accurate) and b) my compfics take place within a few years of 2011

Gateway architrave with makara, lion, and rider, Kesanapalli, Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh Ikṣvaku, 3rd century A.D. Limestone, 223/4 by 39 by 151/2in. (57.8 by 99.1 by 39.4cm). Collection: Baudhasri Archaeological Museum, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh.
Among the most spectacular aspects of the great gateways (toranas) marking the entrances to stupa pathways—apart from sheer grandeur and scale— were the wondrous animals that projected from the ends of the gateway crossbars. This torana terminal depicts a lion with a diminutive human rider leaping from the jaws of a sea monster (makara). Prior to the excavation of this terminal in the 1960s, such gateways were known only from depictions in Andhra stupa sculptural reliefs. In 2002–3 the excavation at the Phanigiri monastery uncovered large sections of a similar gateway

Called 'Monkey, Mental' By Fellow Villagers, Deepthi Jeevanji Fights Taboo To Achieve Paralympics Glory
The Paris Paralympics 2024 has shown the world that anything is achievable if one has the will. The athletes, despite challenges, have risen to glory. India's Deepthi Jeevanji is among those inspirational athletes whose journey was full of challenges, but they never gave up. Deepthi Jeevanji bagged the 16th medal for India as she won the bronze on Tuesday in the women's 400m T20 final at the ongoing Paris Paralympics 2024. The para-athlete finished the race in 55.82 seconds.
Tumblr media
Deepthi Jeevanji had earlier won India's first gold medal at the World Athletics Para Championship in Kobe, Japan. She hails from the village of Kalleda in the Warangal district of Andhra Pradesh.
Her parents, Jeevanji Yadhagiri and Jeevanji Dhanalaxmi, had then recalled how their daughter had to face taunts while growing up. According to a report in The Indian Express, Deepthi was born with intellectual disability, a cognitive disease hampering communication as well as adaptive skills.
“She was born during the solar eclipse and her head was very small at birth along with the lips and nose being a bit unusual. Every villager who saw her and some of our relatives would call Deepthi pichi (mental) and kothi (monkey) and tell us to send her to an orphanage. Today, seeing her become the world champion in a far-off country proves that she is indeed a special girl,” Jeevanji Dhanalaxmi, Deepthi's mother, told The Indian Express in May.
"When my husband's father died, we had to sell the farm to make ends meet. My husband would earn Rs 100 or Rs 150 a day so there were days when I had to work to support our family, including Deepthi's younger sister Amulya. Deepthi was always a calm child and spoke very little. But when the village kids would tease her, she would come home and cry. So I would make her sweet rice or, on some days, chicken and that's what made her happy."
After her daughter's big feat, Jeevanji's father Yadhagiri was emotional.
"Even though it's a big day for all of us, I could not afford to miss work. That's my bread and butter and the whole day I was thinking about Deepthi winning a medal in Paris and would tell the driver Elfer about calling other friends and their families to celebrate Deepthi's medal. She has always given us joy and this medal will also mean a lot to
