Today I am mapping the local divesite “Awas” which is just off the jetty.

We started by measuring the length of my fin kicks, to be able to convert the number of kick cycles to meters.

Then I tried to find my way around the site while measuring the headings, number of kick cycles and at what depth I found the different structures.

It is a very very fun skill to learn. At one point my mask kept filling with water due to laughing at my own drawing: find the tree stump on the map (or as I accidently drew it - the phallos)

Tag 14 - Allerletzter Tauchtag und Anse Major

Leider ist es ja bei jedem Urlaub so, aber heute stand dann nun der wirklich allerletzte Tauchtag für diese Reise bevor. Das Wetter war heute der absolute Traum, die See komplett ruhig und es wehte kein Lüftchen - die besten Voraussetzungen für die letzten beiden Abenteuer unter Wasser. Für den ersten Tauchgang stand nochmal Shark Bank an und im Vergleich zum Vortag fühlte es sich beinahe an als hüpfe man in einen See anstatt ins Meer, so ruhig war es. Auch der Abstieg am Seil war mega entspannt, da heute kaum Strömung herrschte. Das machte den ganzen Tauchgang insgesamt super entspannt und auch einen Ticken länger, weil man am Ende auch etwas weiter oben verweilen konnte, ohne komplett weggespült zu werden. Lediglich die Sicht war ein klein wenig schlechter als am Tag zuvor, aber das machte der ganzen Sache keinen Abbruch. Divesite Nummer 2 war ebenfalls ein alter Bekannter - das Aquarium direkt vor der Küste. Während die Sicht am Montag noch sehr zu wünschen übrig ließ, war es heute wirklich als würde man in ein Aquarium abtauchen…. eine kleine Seltenheit waren auf dieser Reise die Begegnung mit ein paar Clownfischen, die sich dort ebenfalls haben blicken lassen. Insgesamt habe ich mit knapp 70 Minuten auch wohl den längsten Tauchgang gehabt, weshalb ich sagen kann, dass es ein rundum gelungener Abschluss gewesen ist.

Nachdem ich beim Divecenter ausgecheckt und meinen ganzen Kram erstmal zum Trocknen rausgehängt hab, machte ich mich mit dem Auto los Richtung Anse Major Nature Trail. Meine ursprünglich geplanten Wanderungen sind auf dem ganzen Trip leider ein wenig zu kurz gekommen, weshalb ich zumindest diesen kleinen Hike noch durchziehen wollte. Ich parkte das Auto in der Nähe des Hafens und stiefelte los… der Wanderweg war ca. 3 km lang und führte an der malerischen Küste vorbei an beeindruckenden Felsformationen und durch einige Dschungelabschnitte. Belohnt bei der Hitze wurde man nicht nur mit einem phänomenalen Ausblick, sondern auch mit einem zauberhaften Strand am Ende des Pfads und einer mehr als erfrischenden Abkühlung im Meer. Glücklicherweise musste man den kompletten Marsch nicht noch einmal zurücklegen, sondern hat die Möglichkeit für 150 Rupees das Happiness Watertaxi als Rückfahrgelegenheit zu nutzen… was ich schließlich auch tat, da die Faulheit nach der Strandsession definitiv überwogen hat. Zuhause dann schnell duschen und mit dem Auto ins Rockpool Restaurant, um den letzten Sonnenuntergang dieser Reise zu genießen (an dieser Stelle danke nochmal an Carsten und Manu für die Empfehlung ❤️) … morgen abend geht es dann endgültig wieder Richtung zuhausi….
