Hipster Tipster Tuesday Dice Divination It is known that if you carry dice with you it will bring good luck. However, for all my D & D players you can never have just on set of dice. A back up, or two, is needed in case your luck runs out. Critical Fail. The art of divination that uses dice is called Astragalomancy. The oldest known dice dates back 8,000 years. The first to throw dice were not gamers or gamblers but religious shamans. Even though in ancient times the line between gambling and divination is a bit blurred. For this type of divination, you will need to draw a circle about 8 inches in diameter and use two six-sided dice. Some versions will have you use more then two dice, the more dice the more complicated the meanings will get. This is for some down and dirty divination. While shaking up the dice focus on your question or intent. Then roll the dice towards the circle. If any dice land out side of the circle it does not count. Only use the dice that stay in the circle. Add up the total of all dice in the circle. Use the following meanings for your answer: 1- Yes 2- No 3- A pleasant surprise will unfold 4- Luck is with you 5- Your wish may come true 6- Your answer will be revealed 7- You will win 8- You will know the truth 9- Caution possible twist of fate 10- Success will be yours 11- Fate is on your side 12- You will enjoy tranquilly. This is a fun way to for kids to begin their path on divination. Grab the dice from that old worn out game with the missing pieces and start a new game of divination.
