pirate au doodles :^) some plot details under the cut that i’d recommend reading

they’re rival captains and victor is a half siren who was abandoned by his mother as a newborn and rescued by yakov. yuuri’s robbing style is extremely discreet and he mostly just pickpockets people or seduces them and steals their valuables while they’re asleep. victor and yuuri’s first encounter happens in the style of the latter; they meet at a tavern, mistake each other for normal citizens and end up sleeping together in one of the rooms upstairs. the next morning victor wakes up alone with all of his jewelry and gold gone - all except for a single gold ring that previously was a part of a pair. instead of being angry victor is completely smitten and extremely impressed by yuuri’s technique and decides that he’d find the man who stole his ring even if he had to sail the seven seas for the rest of his life.

the explanation for the ring thing this is that when digging through victor’s stuff yuuri found out that victor was also a pirate and not just any pirate but The victor nikiforov (obviously he had managed to make a name for himself as one of the best pirates in history). yuuri had already been attracted to him and with this new info even more so, and thus he decided to take only one of the pair rings as an invitation or a challenge of sorts, like “find and catch me if you can, i’m waiting”.
