Losing a party member may have slightly involved tearing the fabric of reality (consequences)

Van Richten cut off their cleric’s arm

Ez made them a badass prosthetic replacement

Said Cleric then got real pushy with Ez about werewolf stuff and got fucking punched

Ismark has photo-reflective eyes now! This is normal and nothing to be concerned about

Cleric and Paladin/Warlock asked for a metaphysics lesson from Van Richten then got mad when he suggested that the gods are also natural beings that reside in their own plane of existence

Cleric got REAL pushy about what Van Richten got up to when he got stuck in Ravenloft a few decades back (this happened in this universe I think it’s funny)

VR has zero shame, and proceeded to explain both his, and Strahd’s sexual interests in GREAT detail

Cleric painted a crossbow bolt to shoot Strahd in the dick with

Paladin/Warlock got some backstory out of Ez (uh oh maybe we shouldn’t have told her that she’s gone through very little compared to their Cleric huh)

Cleric discovers there is a ghost

How Is Loaf’s CoS Party Doing

(Slight spoilers for Krezk and The Abbey under the cut)

They fought a truly absurd amount of dire wolves on the way to Krezk

Ireena beheaded most of them

They all collectively decided to skin said dire wolves and take their pelts and meat

Hmm the burgomaster of Krezk sure seemed a lil worried about all those wolf pelts…sure that’s nothing

He likes them so it’s fine, plus he was glad to add all that meat to the storehouse for winter

Btw the party is getting cottages built there! They’re getting a lil hub! Yay!

The party helped deliver a baby! (and got a quick rundown on how souls work)

The party bullied Dimitri into coming up to the Abbey with them because he was really trying to sneak off and go

The party Cleric had a fucking conniption

Half over the Abbey just being. Like That

Half over organized religion in general

Ireena also had a fucking conniption…but for entirely different reasons (her and Vasilika met btw)

The party Warlock/Paladin spent the entire trip kicking the cleric under the table to keep them in line

Wow everyone was sure kinda frightened in the presence of this guy for some reason sure that’s nothing

(Until that Paladin cast divine sense and learned REAL quick what the deal was)

The party agreed to find the Abbot a wedding dress for Vasilika in exchange for resurrection privileges and Dimitri’s kid

(I think they’re gonna try to use the Martikovs as a delivery service…so we’ll see how that goes)

The Abbot blessed their cleric’s new shiny prosthetic arm

armand turn daniel into a vampire out of spite, so that he can punish daniel to experience the damning loneliness that he feel. he wants to drag daniel into the dark pit with him. this version of devil's minion is them learning to seek "comfort" with each other because they have no one else to turn to, since both of them fucked each other's life up.

yall wanna hear about the best item ive ever homebrewed for a game of dnd?

no? okay well i'll tell you anyway.

it's called the orb of questionable light, and its a 3 inch diameter plastic orb. it's constantly glowing.

when it's used to attack, it does a two for one in terms of damage. it's technically a ranged weapon, bc i didnt know how to categorize it otherwise. anyway, when you throw it at someone, they have to make a dexterity save, then an intelligence/wisdom save depending on preference. if they fail the dex save they take 2d6 + 2 bludgeoning damage (doubled on a nat 20), if they fail the int/wis save they take 3d6 + 2 psychic damage (doubled on a nat 20), from the sheer confusion of being hit/almost being hit by whatever this is.

regardless of wether it hits or not, they have to make that int/wis save.

what is it, though? is it a stupid plastic orb? yeah! but if you look closer... well, the true answer is hidden behind both a dc 20 arcana check and/or a dc 20 investigation.

a successful investigation allows you to double bludgeoning damage on any successful hit that's over two points higher than the opponent's ac, and deal half bludgeoning damage on any unsuccessful hit if they miss the dex save. you also get advantage on luck checks, and 5 temp hp as long as you are holding the orb.

a successful arcana check allows you to find out that this orb is both a potential arcane focus, and a potential familiar. if the player is able to succeed in three consecutive dc 10 animal handling checks, a familiar that fits their personality and theme and whatever will hatch from the orb. you will no longer have the orb but now you get all the benefits of a familiar, and advantage on luck checks.

players can make investigation and/or arcana checks as frequently as they wish on this item, but if they choose to waste their battle like that, there may be consequences.

we had the first session of yestendor back from summer break and it was so much fun! Every player got development, at least two players were thrown into new character arcs, and they got to meet several of my favorite npcs

Ive been so nervous about returning to dming. I know, in theory, that I'm not a *bad* dm, but I can't help but wonder sometimes if my players really like my stories, or if they just like me. But seeing everyone hop back into character, listening to their laughter and their little gasps as they connected dots they didnt even realize had been present? The way several players asked me about ideas to further developed their characters through roleplay? It was the best feeling in the fucking world

I might not be the best dm, but last night my players (and myself!) were both thoroughly entertained and inspired, and that's what dming is all about!

Ough I see people already mischaracterizing Kabru. He’s a little freak but he’s not outwardly mean to anyone!! Yes he’s constantly thinking of murder and manipulation but those are all internal monologue. His entire deal is needing everyone to like/trust him, he wouldn’t jeopardize that.
