Episode 14 of Dungeon and Daddies made me actually cry. Ron trying to be a better father to his step-child than his dad was to him. Terry Jr rejecting him but Ron replying with love and understanding. Sobbing.

Relistening to early s1 makes me feel even more bad for Sparrow and the tragedy of his character. The twins are the first kids the daddies save and the pyramid thing happens, and it made me think of how much the sons witness their dads commit atrocities n mass destruction in the quest to rescue them. Even if most of those are accidents, the message is "we'll do anything it takes to save our children first, and then pay for the consequences if we have to".

Aside from the tons of trauma being put in this situation at all must leave them with, hardening all of the sondads to a degree, they all have also inadvertently received this message from their own fathers. So Henry not forgiving him for doing the same thing to the forgotten realms to protect his own children (and by doing it on a bigger scale their entire world as well) almost feels hypocritical. Of course I understand Henry's point, and the difference between mass murder and genocide is one he could have very well refused to cross even for his sons himself. But he was also never put on this impossible position. Code purple was an insanely lose-lose situation anyway, but the thought that one of the things that might have pushed Sparrow towards his choice may be the choices he saw his father make (and unlike Lark rejecting Henry, Sparrow tried to learn from him) only to cause his father to forever reject him is haunting me. Especially paired with Henry forgiving Lark, and sure Lark was a child, but I also can't help but think of Henry's self-loathing and how he condemned the son who tried to be like him and accepted the one who rejected him.
