while I appreciate the sentiment of these posts "make art no matter how "bad" you think it is. just make art!!!" it's good to remember that you don't have to make art every day, or force yourself to make something. it's okay to put down the pen, take a break, recharge and come back later. sometimes forcing yourself to draw "no matter how bad it might look" can be worse for you than doing nothing when you're already frustrated with your art

even outside of the actual politics, im not sure how much the methods of getting social change and whether its the right or wrong way in moriarty the patriot is really the point. it definitely is a bit with all the contrasts you get, moriarty, whitely, jack t ripper case etc, even sherlock to an extent definitely cares about that, though hes also a lot more selfish, and also doesnt involve himself so much with politics. but i was thinking, is moriartys method supposed to be the right one then? there are definitely wrong methods: jack the ripper, while whitely is supposed to be more right, though idealistic and just not able within the contraints, hes the most morally 'right'.

for moriarty the main idea is that it is morally wrong (the killing) but that its necessary because more 'right' methods arent possible. i dont know if whether its 'justified' is really a question or answer that exists, it happens cause it had to but its wrong. the idea of the necessity of doing the wrong thing is definitley an interesting one, the series deals a lot with atonement and covers this theme pretty well i think

what actually prompted me to make this post and what isnt so muuch the point though is practically, was moriarty wrong or not? the series never really deals with this, like it literally just works even though its not realistic

what stands out to me here and doesnt make the whole thing sound dumb though is the reading that moriarty is sort of incorrect in his methods. with this sort of politics theres definitly absolutely no possible way of being totally correct practically or morally, theres always going to be ways where someone loses out, you just have to find the best way where everything works out the most possiible, i think.

with moriarty the way i see it is that this is all based on not just the best they can do in the circumstances but also a sort of fallacy, like from such a young age with all his cirucmstances, that had to have shaped him, and i think he holds onto these specific ideas and plans as a product of all that. sometimes its absolutely ridiculous and obviously theres a better way. see the killing himself thing, this is explicitly an example of this where hes wrong, and deluded himelf into not seing another way and holding onto this as a way of continuing, is my reading

i really think seeing this as a weakness of moriarty, william especially with the dying but actually all of them, actually adds to it. sherlock has his weaknesses in ability and morality with how he handles stuff, moriarty is a lot worse with the morality, but i think its not just a moral weakness. if theyre practically also not completely correct in everything i think it makes it more realistic. im not just talking about the specific politics not making sense, but in general with something like this everyone has to be a bit wrong, and also, this being a plan they started as children in that environment, of course its going to be messed up and imperfect and not completely feasible, and they way it did end up working was with the help of sherlock and mi6 and everything
