Animated using Blender at 8-4fps (depending on the scene) Took around 1-2 weeks to do NO BETA WE DIE LIKE MEN or in this case NO STORYBOARD WE DIE LIKE MEN

This was quite fun to make, it was my first experience making a longer animation. Usually i make them 1-3 seconds long lol. And also using a program i dont use often. so this was a pretty good challenge for me. It was fun experimenting and im proud of the results.

The song was chosen cause i like it and i think that ShittyKickflips is not only a fart smella, she's also a smart fella! jkjk lol. i like her stuff and i think what she has to say about stuff is pretty interesting, you should go check it out using the links i added up top. (if you are her reading this rn, then huh.. i guess.. Hi hello :3)

Ill probably try to make more animation like this, though i most likely wont be making them this long, maybe just part of a song or a short movie.

I will admit that it never occurred to me that I would need to check the history book that claimed to be scholarly to see if it used references and footnotes, because how could a book be a scholarly work on history without such things, BUT NOW I KNOW BETTER.

#would not have wasted my money if I'd thought to check for footnotes #but it literally never occurred to me to think it might be otherwise #the kindest thing I can say about this book is that it reads like it should be a video series on youtube #it sets up a premise and then proceeds to ignore it #it makes claims and does not back them up #it wants to tell a different story than the common and popular view of the era #and then proceeds to tell the exact same story with a vague “but it doesn't mean that everybody's idea of what that means is right”#AND IT DOESN'T CITE ITS SOURCES #there is “recommended reading” in the back instead #but no indication that those were books used for references #just that they'd be good to read if you're interested in the topic #which is a great resource IN ADDITION TO CITING YOUR SOURCES #but also I don't trust them because the authors occasionally recommended books written or edited by them #without any kind of disclaimer or acknowledgment that yes this book was written by one of them #anyway #do not recommend The Bright Ages #0/10 rating

I wonder what the secret sauce is that separates work worthy of public ridicule and work worthy of respect. of course, this is completely subjective and dependent on how each individual responds to different things emotionally, both internally and in their external behaviour. so there probably isn't one sure-fire way of escaping the notion of "cringe", especially since you can never please everybody and honestly cringe culture is stupid, anyway.

I think of this concept a lot, bc there's plenty of earnestly-made art out there that people may consider too "overanalytical" for its subject matter. you know, imagine your standard deviantart-hosted comic or writings about a children's video game series that takes the world way beyond its original tone, or categorises things in a way that the source material likely never intended anyone to care about. there's a very (in)Famous comic along these lines that I'm sure came to a lot of your minds right now that was mercilessly torn apart online, long before the creator did anything actually morally despicable.

the most noticeable thing to elevate work above "cringe" is definitely having competent skills. if you can prove you've put the effort in on the technical side, then this usually makes your art more acceptable, compared to a more crude amateur or beginner, which is somehow a bad thing to be.

but there also seems to be some sort of rule that if you pepper enough irony or self-awareness into the work, it becomes palatable regardless of skill or subject matter? and that's no criticism of art that does this. "mr boop" could be defined as ironic, and I love that thing. but you have to do something, whether it's evident in the style, or the artist's demeanour, to show you're not That serious about this. you don't care That much about what you're making or anything. it's just interesting that you seem to have to put yourself down first before you can be seen to openly enjoy anything.

#I'm thinking of this bc I've been watching some any austin videos #who looks at random overlooked areas in video game maps and does employment surveys of the populations of certain worlds #it's the type of meticulous analysis dozens of people with youtube accounts interested in games cover #in fact a user called ulillillia had a decently well-known video on oddities in spyro 2 #and any austin has a video on odd locations in spyro #but the former creator is typically treated a sort of. curiosity by people I guess #much kinder than cc but still with that hint of condescension. like oh he's one of the ''good ones''#is it because any austin's videos have decent editing. a good techncial setup #and a more intentionally dry approach to the subject that they're more mainstream?
