hm. shion doesn't have an in-universe prophecy, but if we wanted to give him one i'd probably say [SPOILER I CAN'T SAY THIS ACTUALLY] so i suppose maybe you could also interpret that [SPOILER AGAIN I AM SO SORRY] and basically guilt and grief ensue

okay so my brain interpreted this as a Literal Box. like cardboard style, however, after thinking about it i realized that it probably does not mean literal box. and so naturally i looked it up and all it gave me was coding stuff BAHAHAHA. anyways. i'm gonna use jung's character archetypes for this question moving forward, and for kes i'd give her the explorer archetype :)

she already knows them actually, that'd be inesa LMAO (this is true for a lot of characters) but i can say that will change in the future to someone else

kes's fav colors and the color that represents her are the same !!! i color code a lot of my characters w their outfits or just like general colors u see in the background near them. the main color i associated her w is orange

nobody rlly knows ares's situation w his mom cause he just like .... doesn't like to talk abt it, but any sort of news (good or bad) involving her would make him emotional enough to cry. frustrated or happy tears :,(

🥑 What will they never back down about, even if it makes them seem bad?

there is a sort of trifecta between genevieve, inesa, and silver (which i'm excited to show hehe) but they all have a similar sort of stance. gene's and silv's aren't as extreme as inesa's is because they don't have her gigantic ego. but in gene's case, she's a hard worker, and she may have her own insecurities but if the situation presented itself she would Never back down from a challenge. she sticks to her goals and beliefs very heavily, which is why shion is a very inspiring person to her, but she'd never just lie down and give up (even if she wanted to lol.)

I am such a fan of your rebuild a city series. I love everything about it. Just a question, where it concerns editing are you using a gradient overlay on your photos to have the brownish hue/tone effect? Or just reshade/gshade?

hiiiii Jae! I love everything about this question! mostly because I love any excuse to ramble about any / all particulars of my bacc 🥰

I play on Mac so can't or maybe supposedly theoretically "could" but can't be bothered to figure out how to run reshade, so all processing is after the fact in Lightroom.

just playing in dimly-lit interiors and the stagnant yellow pollution haze of Evergreen Harbor lays a lot of the ground work, so my base preset's primary job is honestly kind of to counteract the dinge: cranking exposure and brightening shadows, dropping contrast and saturation, plus some slight color grading to make things perfectly imperfect (and yes lol very warm):

of course, two wrongs don't necessarily make a right, so I work from there to make any necessary adjustments (like Octavia's left hand, which was blown out from resting on Queso's rump in the single patch of natural light):

my favorite bit though is the texture and clarity adjustments that give everything a bit of a Vaseline-on-the-lens, dewy, radioactive, post-apocalyptic glow. 🥹 I find this to be especially noticeable on world deco objects that are already somewhat hazy in the distance to begin with (like the water from the dam or yellow metal structures on the hydropower plant):

this is the element of my editing style that I personally find "pretty." 🙂 I sometimes find myself wondering whether I'm doing myself a disservice by leaning so heavily into the ugly with everything from the way I edit to ugly builds and questionable outfit (and now also makeup) choices... but I can't imagine doing it a different way! perhaps as things progress and we work past the point of just surviving and towards building something better...?

i think i'll chat about soobin this time - she is a "newer" character of mine and hasn't gotten as much screen time as the others, so here's a feature for her :)

soobin is infamously a huge fan of reality TV, but you know what else she's into? reality *competition* shows. she's applied to be a contestant on a bunch of these shows and never heard back, but she still dreams of being a contestant on, like, survivor or the amazing race. it's kind of her life's dream (outside of her career and family aspirations, that is) and she will keep endlessly applying to these shows until she's invited to be a contestant.

she has a complicated relationship with her parents. she keeps them around in her life and thinks it's important that they are active in her potential future children's lives, but they don't always get along. as a child and a teen, soobin resented them a lot for shipping her off to live with her aunt in america to attend an expensive private school for a quote unquote better education, and they've never really forgiven her for lashing out at them back then. these days, the primary barriers in their relationship are their religious and political disagreements + the fact that her parents do not like henry all that much. they're nice enough to his face but bitch about him behind his back.

she was a sorority girl! she joined one for the social connections but also for the volunteering and charity work. i think she was very much a model sorority girl, always involved with everything and making herself useful to the sorority's goals and members. to this day, her sorority sisters are still her best friends and she participates in various alumni events.

autumn is her favorite season! she's a big fan of colder weather (aka SOUP WEATHER), cozy sweaters, going all out for halloween, going apple and pumpkin picking, enjoying pumpkin spice flavored/scented goods, etc. oh, and she loves the autumnal color palette, too!

she genuinely despises cleaning. when she lived by herself, she was pretty bad about leaving stuff everywhere, not putting up laundry, forgetting to clean the stove, and so on. it's kind of the same situation with her car. and this is the other half of why she and henry have their "i'll cook, you clean" arrangement. if he cooks, it'll be terrible. if she's left to the cleaning, it'll never get done, nor will it be done to an adequate standard lmao.

silver's outside appearance doesn't differ much !! since she is a very conserved person i feel like a lot of her outfits (even her academy uniform) all express who she is p well. put-together and tidy, she looks very proper 95% of the time. i think if anything this can make her come across as snobby, but she's not, she's just a girl boss!!!!

so inesa genuinely believes she's like. The Best Ever. her inflated ego comes from a lot of trauma i won't unpack here cause it gets unpacked later, but that ego does cause a lot of problems. she believes she's the best and strongest so naturally let's say someone has to do this spell or that enchantment she will ABSOLUTELY argue till the sun goes down about how she should get to do it because she's the best ever. end of discussion.

🍋 What is their kryptonite/ultimate weakness?

malachai's ultimate weakness is that he's so unwilling to trust anyone. i think i've mentioned this before but he only trusts two (2) whole people and and one of them is himself LMAO. it's not due to an inflated ego like inesa but rather he's been let down by a lot of ppl in his life (more trauma i'll unpack in the story) and so he's hyper-independent. will this bite him in the ass? probably. does he care? no.

🧅What is surefire to make your OC cry? Who knows of this information?

i'd say most likely death. shion doesn't really express his emotions outwardly, he internalizes a lot and i'd argue it's difficult to make him cry. since he is fairly stoic and seemingly put together nobody really knows that information. he's out of touch and will pack away his emotions if it gets in the way of his objective. so i do think death would break his stone cold disposition since he's literally the most moral character in the story. and if HE unintentionally caused that death......? he'd crumble for suresies :D

I honestly think any type of inspiration my story gives people is the best compliment ever and it fills my heart with joy <3 As long as there's no profit being made, ofc, and we're just enjoying things together and having fun!

DoF will be finished, though, so I'm not sure that would be something you would like! As an author, it's kinda sucky to look back at those first chapters and realise all the mistakes I made and just generally watch me stumble my way through being a better writer but I'm eternally glad that you would think DoF as it is is good enough to become one of your bookbinding projects!

Hello! i'm new to reshade and i'm having problems with DOF, i can't focus on objects, my hole screen looks blurry. i followed all what people asked you about DOF (your answers) and nothing seem to work for me, Please Help me. i have done everything and the same problem persist

Hey. Usually the issue here is the depth buffer isn't set up correctly. The main things to check are:

turn off Edge Smoothing in the game's graphics options

open Global Preprocessor Definitions in the ReShade menu and change reshade_depth_input_is_reversed from a 1 to a 0

ensure you're using the ReShade version that has full addon support

If you've done both of those things, please check if other depth effects are working as intended. These include things like MXAO and Adaptive Fog, and other DoF shaders.

If they are working correctly, then it is likely a problem with the specific DoF shader you're using. In that case, check with the creator of it to see if there's an updated version you can download. Otherwise, perhaps try using a different DoF shader if you find one that works.

If they aren't working correctly, that suggests it's a problem with the depth buffer itself, that you don't have it set up correctly.
