First Ship Ever: ...I have distinct memories of constantly telling @tirrasae when we were in high school that "Captain Kirk and Uhura should get marriiiiiied." But I'm honestly not sure if that was 1) even genuinely a ship and 2) if it was, if it was my first one. I'm pretty sure it wasn't. XD

Last Song You Heard: (Side note: very much approve of your listening choices, merrinan ^_^) Also uh... it was probably whatever my last morning alarm was, which means it was something from the MLCB OST. Probably... 一壶莲花醉 by Hu Xia. ^_^

Oh, also whatever the Hangzhou City background music is on the DMBJ game that's been playing nonstop because I have the game open on my phone next to me. XD

Favourite Childhood Book: I'm not sure what really counts as "childhood" for the purposes of this question, but probably the answer either way is Snow Dog by Jim Kjelgaard. I was OBSESSED with that book for a decent chunk of elementary school. Misty of Chincoteague by Marguerite Henry was was up there, too.

Currently Reading: NOTHING REALLY. Everything I started reading I Have since stalled out on. I was able to read again for like... TWO WEEKS and then the ability to focus on reading left me again. *sobs aggressively* But if it ever returns, the books I was in the middle of when I stalled where Into the West by Mercedes Lackey and The King's Avatar/QZGS (全职高手) by Butterfly Blue (蝴碟蓝).

Currently watching: AHAHAHA. I'm watching too many things and almost all of them are rewatches. Nothing new. Things I'm rewatching with watchalong friends: The King's Avatar with @buriedbybooks and @thearchivisttheprime), Mysterious Lotus Casebook with @elenothar, South Wind Knows with @kalypartemis. Things I'm rewatching on my own: Immortal Samsara and I just finished up Leverage and and moving on to Leverage Redemption. Also just recently finished rewatching all of The West Wing. ^_^

Currently consuming: Nothing at the moment but my tummy is a-grumbling, so maybe I should fix that. XD To anyone following my MCAS saga, though, I am happy to report that most of my sense of taste has finally returned from the war! So that's exciting. ;D

Currently craving: A break <-- ...omg, merinnan that is such a mood. TT^TT But also these curry puffs with cucumber salad that the Thai place in town used to serve. Unfortunately, they're closed and will never serve them again. TT^TT

For the character meme: Wei Wuxian and Mildmay (DoL)!

Someone else asked for Wei Wuxian so I’m gonna just give you Mildmay and give them the other one.

How I feel about this character: 

(Seriously, though, Mildmay is a good egg and he deserves a nice long rest post-canon to take it easy and build a healthy sense of self-esteem and self-worth. He’s getting there! But he could use more of it, to be sure.)

All the people I ship romantically with this character: Yeah, Felix. So sue me. (Don’t sue me.) 

Mildmay/Mehitabel is also a good ship though not particularly good for Mildmay.

My non-romantic OTP for this character: Also, lbr, Felix. I mean, that’s what I was in this series for the most, and I have never wavered on this point. 

Though I like the idea of him and Corbie being weird sort of friends-with-benefits post-series, I think they could make that work pretty well. It’d be nice and casual and I think low pressure which would be good for them both.

My unpopular opinion about this character: Do I have one? I feel like most of my unpopular opinions in this fandom are about Felix. I feel like everyone loves Mildmay and I am in the same boat.

I do kind of feel like Mildmay is incapable of having a healthy sexual relationship with anyone and will be for a good long while, but I don’t know if that’s unpopular so much as just...true.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon. I actually feel pretty damn good about his arc. The thing about Doctrine of Labyrinths is that...well, I’m in it for the characters, and whatever the other weaknesses of it, I think the character arcs in it are fantastic and I don’t think I’d actually change anything about them. 

I mean, I always want more post-Corambis continuing to heal nonsense, but I don’t think that necessarily needed to be in canon. I just want it.

tagged by @liliaenbaggins and this took a while because what is style, really. I don’t think I have one! (aside from coats.) I also ran into this problem while decorating my house. But anyway: choose (up to) nine film/TV/stage costumes that you’d love to wear or have had an impact on your personal style!

1. I learned while putting this together that I really just like coats a lot. Cloaks, coats, stylish outerwear-that’s me. So we start off with Team Jacket from Dirk Gently, choosing just one of many of Dirk’s awesome jackets and Farah’s really great ensemble (2).

3. Then we have Natasha’s floofy coat (Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812) which just looks so luxurious I want to lounge around in it all day.

4. Then THE coat that Anatole wears (The Great Comet). See the swirly coat in action. Seriously, if anyone knows how to make or acquire this coat I would love you forever I want it so much.

5. I love everything Grace Kelly wears in To Catch a Thief, but particularly the pink skirt and top combo. That is pretty much my go-to silhouette for any sort of formalwear and I wish I was a better seamstress so I could actually make clothes like it.

6. Miss Fisher, style icon. This is more of a “I wish I could pull that off” than anything else, as I haven’t ever worn anything like it. But man, I wish I could. I want the 1920′s dresses and hats and gloves and and and.

7. This is where we get to my actual personal style. Everything else is the dream, the reality is that I dress like Ransom from Knives Out because nothing really beats a plain chunky sweater and jeans. XD My closet is quite boring. I am basic. I have solid colored cardigans and scarves and the flashiest thing is the soccer jersey.

last movie: anatomy of a fall. at first i didn't plan to go see it bc i'm not interested in stories about awesome women stuck in psychologically draining marriages to pathetic men but the fomo got to me lol. i did like it a lot, esp how the movie establishes some empathy for the guy while firmly remaining on the mc's side and how the kid is shown as a rational human being capable of analysis and decision making even in the face of emotional upheaval. the lawyer was extremely hot. her too tbh except she also looks like a real life woman. very unhollywood, the both of them😌

currently reading: i've been reading the collector by john fowles but when the book switched to miranda's diary it completely lost me. i understand she has nothing to do but, if you were kidnapped and help captive in a cellar by a sociopathic incel, would you spend your time writing down the detailed story of your situationship with another man? highly implausible and i'm not sure i understand what purpose this section serves in the novel. so i was bored and started the second lady trent book today which pulled me in immediately altho i gotta say i still find this series uncomfortable from a postcolonial lens😬

currently watching: i've been doing a project called "combat anxiety and existential dread by gratifying my completionism by finishing the most random shows i started years ago". just finished castle rock bc that was a show past me had decided to watch for some reason. it was whatever but i got +100 completionism gratification points by marking it as finished on the site where i track my shows. next up: westworld s3&4, atlanta s3&4, mr robot s4, lost in space s2&3 and vikings s6. the last two i'm actually looking forward to bc i remember liking them, the rest are just something to put on while scrolling tumblr🤷‍♀️

Anything I want: Right now?  I’m working on a REALLY impressive weather headache and I would like it to stop.  I would also really appreciate it if my cat would decide whether he wants to be diabetic or not.  And either way, if we could go back to “I will calmly let you poke my ears to get blood glucose readings” instead of “no mooooooooooom. DON’T TOUCH MY EARS.  I AM GOING TO FIDGET.” then that would be GREAT.  (I REALLY don’t like giving insulin blind.  😭)

Definitely seconding Doctrine of Labyrinths, and for anyone who hasn’t read it yet the Amberlough Dossier series (which I recently finished) gives me a very similar vibe and comes to a satisfying ending about how to move forward from trauma. And actually the Six of Crows duology too where there’s no quick and easy fix-its but gradual steps towards recovery.

All also good recs! I haven’t finished the Amberlough Dossier but I also recommend that series just...generally, and you’re right about Six of Crows - thought about including it here but then I felt like I didn’t remember it well enough to be sure I was right about my impression.
