#doing my best boss godbless

okay so the firing story: she was home sick for 3 entire months and then at the end of the year my boss told us 'so we will not be extending her contract' which first of all. weird. bc all of us have contracts for undetermined periods so why didnt she. turns out she had asked for that herself in a move i can only describe as Stupid: she worked fulltime but maybe wanted to start working 4/5ths in 2024 hence she asked to let her fulltime contract only run until end of 2023 (i say Stupid bc you can just. ask to change your contract even if its for an undetermined period). anyway for the first month and a half she was on sick leave for glandular fever. and after like. idk two months of sick leave, legally, your pay gets docked somewhat UNLESS you get written home for a *different* illness afterwards. now this is purely smth my boss was mad about bc i fully get her but: remember the baby daddy she got back together with? so. she got pregnant again. but then had a miscarriage (which, incredibly sad but maybe a good thing bc another baby would not have been good for either her OR the baby) and was understandably! not fit to work after that! what i feel you can do during recovering from such a traumatic experience: going to gatherings with friends and parties etc. go girl you have to get through this somehow. MAYBE AS A TIP THOUGH: dont post about it on facebook if youve friended your boss who you are costing money and who is big mad about you not working atm. so um yeah he did not like that much. and also she was kind of um. well. underqualified. which! boss's fault for hiring her! if she needs to come along to french and english meetings, and she doesnt speak either of those languages... why'd you hire her!!! that + she was majorly beefing with the manager because she thought that as the boss's PA she had power to do and say whatever. and was bossing around other colleagues, telling the manager 'youre just jealous of me' when she was told to Knock That Shit Off. so yeah end of contract, she sent her badge and key by mail to the office and did not come to say goodbye to us (boss had invited her to the christmas party so she could have an official sendoff but she declined which. also understandable). anyway she had a jacket in the office for if she was cold and she. did not come to collect it. so now every day we hang our coats away and Look at it and Remember. haunting!
that last line...
the contract thing is, godbless her, stupid (as someone with a 1 yr contract that /might/ get renewed we'll see in november who has a friend that was complaining to me yesterday about how they can only find places hiring with 0hr contracts. the thought of having a stable job and not securing it with everything I have is crazy to me)
I completely get what you mean and agree with you with the way she handled the miscarriage the idea it may have been for the best as awful as that may be to say and that it's not wise to post about it when you have your boss friended on fb. even if she was defrauding the company and taking sick pay while not sick (not to say that I think that's what she did) I wouldn't have a moral issue with it but I WOULD take issue with the fact that she posted it FOR YOUR BOSS TO SEE
literally why hire her (good for her though)
the you're just jealous of me is sooo so so so funny though please feel free to send one more ask telling me if she was fun to have around in the office bc she simultaneously sounds insufferable and the most entertaining person ever (in an office)
once again.... that last line. Haunting.

these are thoughts that are RIGHT off the top of my head tho, mostly reactions and appreciation towards some stellar moments and all the other shoes dropped this ep
you can tell this is fresh because the first thing i thought of was carey and killian in their lodge snugglin and being gay like THANKS grif
HURLEY AND SLOANE!!!! when griffin namedropped that puddle of water and tree like my entire soul lit up and started soaring. this was when i started just losing it. UNBURIED GAYS. THANKS FOR THE UNDYING TREE LESBIANS
and apparently i have a theme going here because the entire time griffin was describing phandolin being rebuilt my mind was just like ‘say it griffin say his name do it’ and he DID!!! then i jokingly thought to myself “go to him!” because i didn’t think taako would but INSTEAD HE RUNS TO KRAV AND GIVES HIM KISSES AND THEY TELL EACH OTHER THEY LOVE ONE ANOTHER LIKE. the boys know there’s about two hours of the adventure zone left and they want us to know that taako and krav are very much in love and happy and goobers thank GOD
man what a good day for taako tho huh. the world’s ending but he’s got his sister AND his boyfriend back. (taako calling kravitz his boyfriend!!!!!!!)
(also now lup and taako both have their bf’s who have missed them so much nd want to have mushy moments with them after being apart for so long but have to wait until the DANG apocalypse is over)
on the less gay side of things, it took me a while but i’m coming to appreciate the merle/pan scene. at first i wasn’t sure about why pan would feel so moved to show up and apologize like he did, but then i remembered that merle first thought pan lied to him and it caused him to lose his arm, and then pan ‘abandoned’ him in wonderland and stayed gone while the world burned. so the idea of merle casting zone of truth just so he could call out god and ask him what was going on, and god in turn humbling himself to merle and reaffirming his faith was. good.
not as good as merle hugging john as he was dragged to ennui hell. but good.
TAAKO AND JAOQUIN. i literally did NOT think that they were even going to touch the taco quest thing and just let it get forgotten as a bad one-off joke but instead griffin made a way to see it through that managed to be exceedingly good and fulfilling. i guess i’m blown away just because i didn’t see it at all coming and griffin’s been putting things into motion since at least the crystal kingdom to make things right in the real world and to make it satisfying narratively and im glad about it
ADN WHEN GRIFFIN DROPPED THE “I HAVE MAGIC POEWRS” LINE I. LOST IT. I FUCKING LOST. IT.
(other best references include “no dogs on the moon” and “taako’s good out here.” both of which destroyed me)
magnus and the strength bear got me crying so many times im such a sucker for “strength means nothing without friends” stories and so ‘being strong is not strength, strength is asking for help’ just kneecapped me. the good shit. (and trav fully having magnus give selfish answers about being strong was great lovin it lovin it)
i just adored how griffin had so many places and plot lines to fall back on, i loved how he used every connection the boys had made over their journey to help them in their hour of need (BECAUSE EVERYTHING IN THE WORLD IS POWERED BY BONDS ; _____; )
loved that how no matter who your forgotten single episode fave character was, they got a shout out. griffin loves to pull that shit (which is why taz has had like two boss runs asdsf) and so do i
lastly i adored the gigantic middle finger towards everyone who tried to paint lucetia as a villain instead of someone trying to save her goddamn family AND. lup and lucretia’s little moment healed my acne scars and gave me better posture godbless
i cant wait for the finale except i absolutely can because i don’t want it to be over but there’s also nothing better than a thrilling conclusion to an incredible story so BRING IT ON BOYS I WANT TO CRY HARDER!!!!!!!

How Adele changed the the face of music
Last night I was browsing on YouTube when suddenly I came across a video of Adele where she performed one of her hit singles “Someone like you” during the BRIT Awards in 2011.  I thought: “Oh great, just another Adele video”, but I couldn’t be more wrong. I was attracted by the fact that the video just focussed on her (and the pianist) - instead of what you see in a lot of live video where the shots of the crowd just gets annoying after a while and seems distracting from the essence which is music: emotion. It was raw. Pure emotion. Tears. The o so humble, o so casual girl, Adele, only 23 at the time of her performance, gave her all. How could she be aware of the fact that her performance at the BRITS made her the star who she is now? Despite whether the fact if you like her or not, think her music is just horrible or couldn’t be a bigger fan, there’s no denying: Adele is huge.
How can Adele be so hot as she is today?
Let’s face it, EDM is the main big thing this day of age. The streams we get from hotshots in America is huge (but that’s another topic). Despite the fact that lasers, dropping beats, distinctive electronic effects (think of Kygo, Avicii and Skrillex) and mostly a lot of “can I see these hands?” followed by a lot of screaming summarises the mainstream experience of live festival and also concert of a mainstream artist. How come that Adele could overcome such performance? What makes her different from others? Adele goes back to simpler times, she’s not thin or good looking or sophisticated like a lot of American artists we get to see today, she’s honest, dislikes publicity and has normal priorities as a normal woman: kids, partner, friends. No glamour, not appearing in tabloids all the time. Adele represents pure rawness, pure emotion, pure “her”. Her music is her, nothing more, nothing less. What stroke me the most was that Adele mesmerized the crowd only with her voice. She didn’t have any dancemoves, was quite static during her performance (except from arm movements which follow the rhythm of her music). It could be because she was shy in any way, but it seems all so easy for her. She doesn’t need all the fancy stuff to bring a good show and that’s why I came to like her. Despite her godblessing voice, for me, she gets me like only maybe Witney Houston did. When I watch Adele, I get as a bonus a trip of reminiscence. She can take away all my sorrows and pains and leaves a much bigger impact than a lot of mainstream artists do to me. Hey, don’t get me wrong, I can totally go nuts on modern songs and I came to love EDM as well (because let’s be honest, who doesn’t like a good shake out to get rid of all the frustrations?), but Adele represents so much more. She can calm me down, her musical impact is bigger than any other. I think the biggest example of the power and impact of Adele is her mesmerizing break of silence. Adele, who became a mother a few years ago and devoted herself to the upbringing of her son, was covered in absolute silence (apart from “Skyfall”, her James Bond song). It took her years before her new album came out, but oh-my-god, what a big-bang it was! “Hello”, so simple, so honest, so weird in a way. The video clip looks like a low-budget shot amateur video. But isn’t that what Adele just wants? Most quickest watched clip (and listened to evidently) ever on YouTube. Sales rocketed. The UK was for years not a challenge anymore. Even the USA totally crawled at her heels, she’s the boss, she’s the queen. Adele, you have the godgiven right of one of the most beautiful voices ever, the least we can say is that you make use of it in the best way a big fan of any kind of music can only hope for.
Thank you Adele for bringing so much happiness, but mostly, for reminding us that sometimes even something simplicity can do the trick.
