Casey got a new faceup! Finally plucked up the courage to redo his old one from several years ago.

Then just took some cute pics of him because I love him.

I’m glad it still looks like him, and I feel like the new eye makeup makes his eyes look brighter.

Though I think he needs a new hat. His is getting to be a pain.

Yesterday I took Caspar for a quick photo shoot. I wanted to portray him as the desert prince but since there's no sandy area in my neighbourhood, let's pretend he stayed in an oasis or a garden close to the palace. This outfit may seem a bit odd but that's the style in Kardea, the desert country he comes from. I'm really satisfied with what he looks like now. That's how I've always imagined him as the desert prince. The sash belt, pendant and circlet headpiece was made by me.

After a good 9 years, I finally repainted my dear sweet Melody because her faceup had really faded. She got new eyes for my birthday in April, so I felt motivated to repaint her to match the vibrancy of them.

See what I mean with faded? Most of the reds and pinks were gone. No matter, she's all lovely again!!

What would be spring without the Storyteller? Right. Not spring. He is secretly still the head of the family and when spring arrives he will stroll around and enjoy the colors, the blossoms and the insects buzzing around.

I guess a rainy day was technically the right weather for pictures of my little mushroom.

But honestly, this is the only ok photo I got that day, and it wasn't a very fun moment due to mud and everything being wet. If I hadn't been so impatient/frustrated by two weeks of non stop rain, I wouldn't have bothered.

Lily got her face-up yesterday, and while I had a heck of a time with glueing the lashes on (which I haven’t had since maybe the first time I glued lashes on a doll), I really like how it came out. There are already a few scratches, a few I’m not sure how they happened, but I don’t really notice them much. I also changed her eyes. With the lashes, the brown looked good, but it was hard to get them to look as nice in photos, so she’s using Lottie’s old green eyes now. I also just ordered a new comb last night since mine is breaking, so I can get her wig combed better next week.

Tomorrow I’m going to be doing another face-up. All of my dolls have their cute faces, but my brother has commissioned me to paint his blank girl. She’s supposed to have an old movie kind of look, so wish me luck 😊

Yesterday I finally took some photos of Caspar and the raven. I decided to show Caspar as a fighter. He's skilled with daggers and sabre. He's a wanderer so he has to protect himself from villains and dangerous creatures. He also has a mysterious guardian - a raven watching him from afar. That raven has metallic shiny feathers and ruby eyes. Caspar doesn't know why the bird follows him but somehow he feels the raven's not evil.

I have to say it's very tricky to find decent props at a good price. Since I couldn't find 1/4 scale daggers, I had to use some metal charms. The miniature replica of Polish sabre from 1921 looks much better, though it's too heavy for the doll to wield it. The raven's also too small for my boy. I suppose the perspective can do the trick in the photos. I customised the bird a little. I used copper antique paste on its feathers and painted the eyes ruby red. Well, it's actually more magenta but since natural rubies do have such hue, I guess it's OK. Nevertheless, I like how it all turned out.

Iza’s Yearly Big BJD Lineup 2023 :: 64 BJDs from 81cm to 12cm (+ pets!)

I finally got around to doing my yearly big BJD lineup in December 2023, für hounding my sister for over a year to give me my two doll bodies back.

This was a 3 day ordeal (2 days of shooting images, and another day of editing, combining, and labeling), but I’m glad I got it done. In total I manually merged 12 photos. 

I excluded 4 dolls, 3 have identical doubles (head and body combos) and 1 was too similar to another (only a different head, but same company head and body combo), so I didn’t feel the need to add them. I also did not add a doll I gifted my wife for Christmas as she hadn’t gotten her yet when I did the lineup. She’ll be included in next year’s lineup though!

If anybody wants specific dolls from above compared (dressed or nude), please let me know and I’ll try to do it in the next week! I can’t do the whole lineup nude as I do not have the energy nor the ambition for that. It was intensive enough to just do them dressed, because I do this without help…

Anyway, I hope this is helpful to at least one person out there!

I’m not gonna tag all the doll sculpts in the lineup, that would just take too long, but I will add a couple of companies in the tags at least.
