“no!” she shouted, crossing her arms and trying to keep a serious demeanor, her giggles breaking through. “one peaceful car ride, that’s all i ask for!”

“i promise i’m not gonna go that fast this time!” he laughed, watching his girlfriend hide behind a small bush in the middle of nowhere.

“vinnie, you could have killed me!”

“i would not—you’re safe with me! just come back.” he had one hand on the RX 7 and his other scratching his shoulder, his bare arms on display from the white tank he was wearing.

“vinnie, i’d rather stay here than get back in that car with you.”

the boy didn’t take a mere second before replying, “you will get murdered out here! you have no other choice so just get in!”

“no! you were going above like 90!”

“that’s not even that fast!”

“yeah right—“ she scoffed, kicking at the rocks she spotted on the ground. her hair was pushed back in a ponytail and yet the wind blew some strands astray.

“y/n, i will slow down, just get back in the damn car.” he sighed, banging lightly on the hood of the vehicle.

“will you let me pick the music?”

“if i say yes, will you come here?”

she nodded, watching vinnie roll his eyes. “then yes.”

y/n grinned, skipping back over to the car while vinnie sat behind the wheel. once she got back in she buckled her seatbelt and immediately shuffled her playlist.

“you happy now?”

she glanced over at the boy, “very.”

“good.” he sent her a suspicious look before starting the car. her eyes widened at his face.

“vinnie don’t you dare—“

the girl was quickly cut off by the engine, her boyfriend sending her a wicked smile.

“out here?!”

you didn’t mean to come across as arrogant as you had, you were just honestly shocked at jaden’s words.

“yeah, is that a problem?” he chuckled, taking a last bite of his sushi.

“uh, yes?” you looked over at your shirtless boyfriend who was busy drinking from his smart water. his eyes switched away from his girlfriend’s frantically, not wanting to get involved.

“i’m a girl! why don’t i get a bed?”

“because you’re with vinnie and vinnie already said that he was fine sleeping on the couch.” jaden said, waving his hand at the tattooed boy.

“what?!”

“don’t worry about it, y/n. just eat your chicken strips.” vinnie instructed, watching a laughing jaden rise from the couch.

“baby why would you give them the bed?”

“because it’s not that big of a deal! it’s just for one night before we leave in the morning and there’s enough space for the both of us. it’s just a couch.”

“god forbid, the princess sleep on anything other than a bed.” jaden remarked.

“jaden!” you warned, turning at the sound of a snickering vinnie who immediately closed his mouth.

“alright, fine. but i’m tired so go, i wanna sleep.”

“will do, my lady.”

“shut up.” you rolled your eyes, watching jaden throw away his garbage before meeting the other boys in the bedroom. once the door closed, you turned to look at your boyfriend who was leaning his head against his palm and looking back at you.

“the couch? really?”

“y/n, it’s not that bad! it’s kinda comfy, look.” he got up and pulled out the pull out couch, his back muscles and shoulder blades on full display beneath the light. once the bed was all laid out, he plopped down onto it, bouncing slightly.

“see, babe? not that bad.”

you sat beside the boy, immediately displeased by how hard the surface was. “baby…” you whined.

“what? it’s not that bad!” he knew that you liked your mattresses soft and that the pull out couch was definitely not your style.

“there isn’t even a night light out here.”

“it’s fine! i’ll turn the lamp over there on.” he got up and flipped the light before turning on the lamp in the corner of the room.

“this better?” he asked. the room was still dark but you could make out his features and if you turned to face the lamp, you could see clearly.

“i guess…”

“there, see?” he stripped down his plaid pants, leaving himself in just his boxers before changing into a pair of sweats. “what are you gonna sleep in?”

“well, i would sleep naked but since the boys are across the hall…” you rolled your eyes, hopping up and grabbing your clothes from your bag, “these pajamas will do.”

once you finished getting changed, you joined vinnie on the couch, the room eerily silent besides the tv you could hear in the boys room. you were a light sleeper so you were hoping that they wouldn’t be too loud.

“wish we had blankets.” you mumbled, nuzzling into vinnie’s side.

“me too.”

“easy for you to say, handsome, you picked the couch!”

“babe, i know. i don’t regret it though.” he smiled, trying to ignore how uncomfortable it was.

“hey vin?”

“yeah?”

“i love you.”

“i love you too.”
