It won't be easy, you'll think it strange
When I try to explain how I feel
That I still need your love after all that I've done
You won't believe me
All you will see is a girl you once knew
Although she's dressed up to the nines
At sixes and sevens with you

Watch "The Mike Flowers Pops_Don't Cry For Me Argentina" on YouTube
This is super hella earwormy on about 30 levels, so if you're about to go to sleep, reconsider listening. There are about a dozen remixes available if you want to add some serious what the shit is this to your family's holiday gathering playlist.

@The_Hot_Sheet 22 Feb 1997 : Madonna's "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" became her record-extending 18th number-one peak on Billboard's Dance Club Play chart, on her way to becoming the only artist with 50 number-one hits on any one Billboard chart.

I'm not into royalism, but what's the best version of Don't Cry For Me Argentina? Well, you want something plausible, sweeping and regal to fit the role. The Madonna version is my fav -- she knows how to be regal, since she sees herself that way to begin with, and it's a royalist song if there ever was one. Shirley Bassey's is also fab, very courtly. She's Dame Shirley Bassey, after alll.
Patti LuPone does my fav version of Bueños Aires, which I find much better than Madonna's, but there's so much vibrato on her Don't Cry, and she just doesn't seem to fit the part.
I think the Sinéad O'Connor version is ridiculous and I don't like the sound of Elena Rogers (who cast her?). Ruthie Henshall's is ok but she's too cautious with the part, I think.
