Everything I hear about the live action remake just pisses me off. The original film was much beloved by everybody. Why they chose to change it so much is just a disgrace. Now Nani doesn't care about her sister and wants to study marine biology in California? HAWAII HAS COLLEGES! One of the best known one TEACHES MARINE BIOLOGY!

They basically turned Nani into a selfish bitch who can't even be bothered to take care of her own little sister! Se could have gone to a college in Hawaii to get her degree and STILL kept Lilo! Why turn Jumba into the main antagonist? Why get rid of his Russian accent? Why remove all of his and Pleakly's goofy antics together? The joke wasn't even about them being gay or crossdressing (a common trope n Disney movies) the joke was they were two aliens wearing goofy barely believable disguises, and not understanding human culture. Those new disguises are shit. And WHY remove Gantu? Gantu was the main antagonist but people still loved him. There's no point to removing him OR turning Cobra Bubbles to JUST a secret agent. sigh. I need to stop before I spend all night venting.

Sorry but I just need a little vent post about Lilo and Stitch to get this shit off my chest

I’m not going to go over every single change listed here, this post is mainly gonna be about Nani and Lilo, and Jumba will be mentioned eventually too.

In the original film, Nani was not a neglectful sister. Yes, she and Lilo did fight with each other (yelling, not physical abuse, of course) but ffs, Nani was just 19 years old and was now the sole caretaker of her five year old sister, a sister who was not an easy child to deal with (I’m not saying that to imply Lilo’s a bad character, not at all. She had a group of girls always bullying her for being different, and that combined with her trauma and grief from losing her parents results in her getting behavioral issues and resorting to physical violence against her bullies. I actually love that they portrayed her in that complicated and complex way).

And don’t forget Nani’s grieving throughout the whole movie too, hell she probably never even found time to process her grief since she’s suddenly in the role of a caretaker and provider for her little sister. And just to add to this, her room has lots of surfing trophies which means she was on her way to becoming a professional surfer but she had to give that up for Lilo.

So yeah, of course Nani wasn’t a perfect parent to Lilo, she was a grieving 19 year old woman taking care of a five year old with behavioral issues. And honestly, you’d think it would make sense for her to give Lilo to CPS right?

BUT.

Look at their family at the end of the film.

Jumba and Pleakley live with them as Lilo’s gay uncles, Cobra Bubbles is now a family friend, and Nani and David get to date more.

Their family grew, Nani’s able to have time to herself to grow her relationship with David since Lilo has more people to watch her.

They even get to go on trips!

And it’s all thanks to Stitch.

But someone at Disney said, “Meh idk, maybe that found family ending wasn’t such a good idea after all :/ I know! Let’s end the movie with Nani and Lilo separated! And Jumba and Pleakley* won’t be involved in their found family either cuz they’re villains throughout the whole thing now!”

*I keep seeing people talk about Jumba being a villain now but what happens to Pleakley at the end of the movie? If anyone knows please tell me.

Anyone who gives this remake good reviews and uses words like “heartfelt” or “heartwarming” or any other synonyms like that either fell asleep during the movie or was paid to say that I stg.

The reason his acting is so good is because he has so much bottled energy and hatred and no way to release it from his body. It's kind of key for his character. Maybe the last few seasons when Hawk grows more tired and more exhausted. But S1-8/9, he needs to have that manic bottled energy that is killing him. It's what keeps him fighting back for so long.

Going back in time and remaking MASH and everything is the same except I give Hawkeye a fidget toy

I am SO grateful that ed and stede exist as characters exactly as they are. I'm so grateful for these two men who are traumatized and messed up and struggle to even like themselves, who are terrible at communicating, who make enough mistakes between the two of them to fill an entire ocean. I am so grateful to watch them struggle and be seen and be loved and reach out for the things they want and are maybe starting to believe that they deserve. I'm so grateful that the show lets them fall in love and get together exactly as they are, that it doesn't say they need to wait until they've become some unattainably perfect version of themselves before they have permission to have that. i am so grateful for ofmd

Thought I'd never see you again...

My new year's resolution this year was hats. Make em, wear em, encourage others to wear them...

I'm going to be playing the galant gentleman at a castle picknick at the end of the month, which of course must include a hat to wear at a rakish angle.

So I made one!

I bought this felt H&M men's hat for a whole euro at the koninginnemarkt. I took off the inner and outer band and scratched off the glue.

The hat was too large, so I measured how long the crown ought to be for me and forced the brim up until it was my size. I pinned and stitched up the three corners to make it the distinctive tricorn shape and wet the fold to let it dry in the correct shape. I put a round bowl in the wetted crown to ease out the fedora shape.

When this seemed to fit nicely, I steamed it and wore it for an afternoon while I pottered about the house, to give the neighbours something to wonder at.

I got a box of offcut gold braid from a lampshade maker a while ago, so I stitched on two layers of gold trim to make it fancy.

This hat was such a success and so much easier than I anticipated. It really finishes the outfit too, 10/10 can recommend!

I have truly missed them. During the premiere event Nomutan and Shun-kun answered a few questions and talked about a few interesting points of making Perfect Propose:

Nomura talked again about being nervous with Kai being his first protagonist, but Kaneko made him feel safe and confident to tackle the character.

This is Kaneko's first leading role as well (but unlike Nomura, Kaneko doesn't have the pressure of being the son of the Ikki Sawamura).

They unintentionally stablished a dynamic where Kaneko is the more pro-active one when dealing with the socials of the show, production usually gave him all the instruction in how to lead the lives (he was actually surprised when he learned that they didn't even tried with Nomura after a while lol).

In all fairness Shun-kun tried to help Nomura take more initiative in their lives but after the third one they just gave up 😂

Shun-kun took a liking to snapping photos of Nomura sleeping while filming since he looked adorable when napping (this usually happened after they had lunch).

Kaneko's favorite scene is their first day sleeping together with Kai teasing him about the size of the bed.

Nomutan's favorite scene is the first time they actually share the bed, the one where he asks Hiro to like him.

Nomura also likes the one with the morning after their first time, he loved the way they look happy in bed after all the drama they go through.

They both agree the most challenging one was their emotional conversation in the finale, the tears were unscripted and they both lost control of their emotions during filming, but it turned out to be beautiful and emotional in the best way.

Nomura couldn't stop crying after the 'cut'. He really felt overwhelmed and needed some time to recompose himself.

Perfect Propose Dream Edition is a director's cut of the show, so I assume the epilogue got integrated in it. By the way, Love Is Better The Second Time Around is also getting a re-release in a similar format, so KoiNiDo fans be on the look out.
