Dean makes it to Donna's
Always a pleasure "working" with @lacilou
Donna had met you at the door, waving at Claire as she backed out of the driveway. You half expected her to ask but instead she smiled "Ya know where the guestroom is and guest bathroom. Why don't ya go get a shower and change into more comfy clothes then we can talk or not whichever" you instantly pulled her into a hug trying very hard not to cry. She held you for a few moments, rubbing your back soothingly then leaned back to smile at you again "Want tea or coffee waiting?" "Tea please"
You, the boys and Jody's girl all kept extra clothes at Donna's. She was a safe place to crash. Once you were out of the shower and dressed you stared at yourself in the mirror, immediately regretting not paying better attention when you grabbed clothes. You'd gotten a pair of your sleep shorts out but the shirt you'd grabbed was an old henley of Dean's.

You ignored the ache in your chest as you brushed your hair out then headed out the bathroom. You padded softly down the hall enjoying the feeling of the cool hardwood floor under your feet.
When you made it to the kitchen Donna was standing with her back to you, you saw she had her phone to her ear and started to step out to give her more privacy until you heard your name. The bits you caught were "Jody's gonna flip" "You shouldn't have went back Claire" "Yeah I know" "I know how two faced Camila is" "I don't think Y/N is gonna believe me though. I could strangle Dean"
You cleared your throat and had to stifle the urge to laugh when she spun around wide eyed looking very much like a kid with their hand caught in the cookie jar "Claire sweetie I gotta go. Give Jods my love and call me when ya get home"
You raised an eyebrow at her phone as she sat it down "What was that about?" She shrugged but when you crossed your arms she let out a sigh "Claire had a talk with Camila" "A talk?" You asked skeptically and she flinched "She might have gave her a black eye, broke her phone and told her if she came within fifty feet of you she'd get worse that than"
You felt your heart warm at Claire's protectiveness but felt the need to say "While I appreciate Claire wanting to defend me she doesn't need to risk getting in trouble. That bitch isn't worth it" Donna nodded slowly and held out a steaming mug. When you took it you realized she was still staring at you "What else Donna?"
She shrugged "Camila told Claire she lied about a lot, like the ring thing" you shook your head "Even if Dean wasn't looking at rings, he was willing to quit hunting.... Donna he still hadn't even told me he loves me. How many signs do I have to let slap me in the face before I accept I'm not the one for him no matter how much it rips my heart out or how much I love him"
She opened her mouth as if to say something but you quickly forced a yawn "I'm gonna take my tea to the guestroom so I can lie down if that's ok" she nodded "Of course. Holler if ya need anything" you gave her a small smile before nearly running to the guestroom, shutting the door behind yourself.

You sat the tea on the dresser before sitting on the bed. What were you supposed to do now? The bunker had been your home for quite some time before you and Dean ever shared a bed. Maybe the twins wanted a third for hunting? Or you could go with Claire some?
You eventually laid across the bed, hoping sleep would pull you under.

Dean parked next to Donna's truck feeling his heart skip around in his chest. He cut his eyes at Sam as he killed the engine "What do I say to get her to listen to me?" Sam shrugged one shoulder "Honestly?"
Dean felt his jaw clench as he said "Yeah honestly. I'm trying to fight for the woman I love her and this is new territory to me Sammy" a small smile slipped onto Sam's face "Don't gameplan man. Just talk to her, stutter and stammer if you have to. Just try to tell her how you feel and make her see you mean it"
He nodded slowly before climbing out of the impala, hearing Sam get out behind him. Before they made it all the way onto the porch the front door swung open and there stood Donna looking very pissed. "DEAN WINCHESTER! WHAT DID YOU DO?"
He flinched at her tone and held his hands in front of him defensively "I promise you my own crime is being stupid enough to think Camila had changed any. Anything she told Y/N was a lie. Please let me talk to her Donna" she looked from him to Sam before nodding "Ok, Sam ya wanna ride into town we me? The dinner has decent enough food"
Sam nodded "Sure" Donna leaned in to grab her coat before looking back at Dean "She's in the guestroom. Don't make me regret this Dean" Sam patted Dean's shoulder reassuringly before following Donna off the porch.

Dean stepped inside and stopped. What if you didn't want to see him? What if you didn't believe him? What if you really were through?
He wanted to give into those self depreciating thoughts he had his entire life but your face popped into his mind. The smile you'd have when you would wake up next to him, how you'd wrap your arms around him and kiss between his shoulders while he cooked. The way you'd patch him up after a hunt or sit watching his every movement with tired eyes as he patched you up.
Every moment of your relationship and even before flashed through his mind. It was worth the risk. He knew for him that you were it, he just hoped you felt the same.

He walked to the guestroom and knocked twice. After a moment he heard your sleep ridden voice "Come in Donna" he hesitated, should he tell you it was him? After a moment he pushed the door open "Hey sweetheart"

You shot up in bed and stared at Dean for a long moment. Your first urge was to run to him or even cry but you bit both those down to let venom slip into your tone as best as you could "Where's Camila?"
He shrugged "Don't know. I came here to talk to you" you stood off the bed smoothing a hand over your hair as you did so. You refused to be sitting while he stood. You needed halfway equal footing.
"Why? To tell me yourself I never measured up to her? To tell me you would've quit hunting for her? Or or or did ya come to tell me stories about her like I heard you and Sam reminiscing about WEEKS AGO!" You hadn't realized the anger that was simmering under your pain but once you started talking it refused to not be fed.
You tool a step towards him "When would I have been enough Dean? I was friends with you and Sam for so long before we ever started getting closer. You had every chance to not yet you took me into your bed. You touched me, you kissed me, you made me feel wanted like you actually cared but all the while I was falling in love with you were you still hung up on her?"
"No" he answered it so matter of factly it pissed you off further. Your teeth clenched hard as you said "Then why don't you love me? Why don't you feel about me how I feel about? WHAT DOES SHE HAVE THAT I DON'T?"

You felt angry tears slip down your face half a second before Dean was pulling you into his arms. You struggled, trying to break out of his embrace but knew he was stronger than you and your traitorous heart and body wanted nothing more than to melt into him. "Why don't you love me?" You half whispered half sobbed into his chest.
"I do love you" he spoke quietly. You pulled back from him to look up into his eyes "Don't say it to save my feelings" he gave you a smile that wasn't his usual flirtatious one but was genuine nonetheless "I'm not baby please can I talk now?" You nodded so walked the two of you over to the bed and sat down scooting back against the headboard pulling you onto his lap as he went and you let him.

Once you were straddling him with your head resting in the bend of his neck he started to rub circles onto your back as he spoke "She lied about me wanting to quit hunting. She lied about a lot, that's all she ever did. When me and Sam were talking about her it was because he was giving me hell for not trying to get you sooner because he was comparing how much better of a hunter, cook and woman you are and I was agreeing. I have loved you for a while now but sweetheart this is new to me, I've ran from any feelings my entire life. I've ran from the possibility of opening myself up to being hurt but you? You could rip my heart out right now and I'll use my last breath to tell you I love you"
You leaned up to look into his eyes "I've felt so out of place since I heard you two talking about her. I wanted to trust in us, not just a lovers but as friends. Dean I've never dreamt of feeling how I feel about you. I love you" you pressed a gentle kiss to his lips and he sighed lightly into your mouth, a sound of contentment. When you pulled away he smiled again "I love you Y/N. A future for me? It's you. No matter what else may come my future is you"
You smiled again, feeling tears brimming in your eyes "Shut up and kiss me like you love me Winchester" He grinned at your words "Oh I definitely can do that"

An accurate representation of the Alci pout. She is very dramatic, people. If she’s got to suffer, so does Y/N. She’ll say she’s not pissed, but we all know better than that. Constantly fluctuates between insecurity and full out rage. She’s not proud of it, but she has sent her daughters on a few hunts where the targets were women who had been shamelessly flirting with Y/N. Of course, now that Y/N and Alcina are in a committed relationship she is a lot less possessive. However, there are still times where her jealousy gets the best of her and she decides to have an “extra snack” every now and again.

As precious and cute as Donna is when she’s giving Y/N the evil eye… Never mind it’s actually pretty terrifying. You best believe the doll maker would not hesitate to throw hands at anyone, however, she does tend to prefer to use her brain to outsmart an opponent. Her effortless charm, her quick wit, and a complete command of all of the dolls and hallucinogenic spores on her property, pretty much keep people from wanting to get on her bad side. She’s only once actually given a flirty woman a bad vision, but like, that’s honestly on Y/N. Donna was having a bad week and Y/N forgot to fill her Trintellix prescription. It happens, okay?

Listen y'all, it should come as no surprise that Miranda can be fucking scary when she wants to be. She’s also very calculated. She is not necessarily a jealous type, but if she feels, or has evidence, that something that belongs to her (Like Y/N) is trying to be taken away… Let’s just say Miranda is literally an evil genius and the sky is the limit with how horrific she could make the punishment. Just don’t come for Y/N and you won’t have your eyeballs scooped out. Seems like a reasonable request to her.

So, Bela likes to think of herself as refined and sophisticated just like her mother. The only problem is that Bela is eternally petty. Like, to the bone. She still brings up the time when Dani borrowed her hairbrush and didn’t put it back in the right spot. (She literally said that she wanted it put back at a crisp 45 degree angle on her dresser. Out of all of the RE8 ladies, Cass is the most physically violent, possessive, territorial, lovesick, etc. You get the picture. Typically, all it takes for a woman who’s flirting with Y/N to back down is a demonstration of how skilled she is with bladed weapons… If that doesn’t work, she can’t be held responsible for what she does next. I could definitely see her parading Y/N around the castle and the village like they’re some sort of prize and telling everybody that Y/N belongs to HER… She warned ya. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Dani can’t imagine a world where her and Y/N aren’t together… In fact, she refuses to even entertain the thought. Y/N means everything to her. I think it’s safe to say that she is definitely the most romantic of the sisters, however, she can be a little over the top sometimes. Also, reading these epic romance novels where characters are so in love that it’s literally most of their personality, isn’t really helping the situation. She can go psycho-cuckoo-bananas at the drop of a hat if she sees ANYONE getting too cute and friendly with Y/N. Rest assured, she will bring the drama and intensity if she feels a need to.

I really want to see what Donna would be like as a mother figure. Maybe a new girl, age 15-16 moves into the village. She hearrs all the rumors and warnings of the beneviento manor, but she ignores them, because she doesn't want to judge the place before she sees it for herself. She prepares a basket of pastries and cookies she makes herself and goes over to Donna's house and knocks on the door. Donna is shocked because no one ever comes to her manner, especially not with good intentions. The girl is so sweet, so innocent, so pure, kind, and full of fun Donna has been so lonely, so she invites the girl inside. The girl asks Donna to spend the afternoon making paper dolls and other crafts with her. A few months later the girl has been coming by more and more often, and now Donna sees the girl as a complete daughter figure.

Ever since you were ten years old, your parents would teach you about the importance of not only kindness but also charity work. Therefore, it was no wonder that now at sixteen you would feel a certain compassion towards the secluded Lady Beneviento.
It was nearing Christmas eve, your parents were nowhere to be seen (as always). You didn't blame them, they had jobs and responsibilities, you just weren't a priority.
So…you made a choice. You knew the Lady was usually alone, and you hated being alone. That's why you prepared a basket filled with baked goods and set course to her House.
There weren't many people around the streets, winter was particularly harsh this year but you wouldn't back down. Thankfully, no lycans appeared on the way, you definitely weren't ready for them.
The village didn't have much information on the Beneviento territory, so running into a grave was an unpleasant surprise since you didn't bring any flowers. However, you were walking with a map, which you turned into a paper flower and left it at the grave. It was dangerous walking without a map, but it’d be disrespectful to not leave something.
After this moment a strange feeling came at you, as if you were being followed. Of course you looked behind you many times and you never saw someone, so you shook it off.
The path was easy, perhaps the villagers were lying or simply too scared.
Once you reached the garden, a sense of peace overcame you, the freezing snow was momentarily forgotten as you stood near the House breathing the cold air.
Donna thought you were lost, she wanted to scare you off so you’d go back home. But you were just a kid, what if she frightened you too much, or you got hurt, she couldn't hurt you. So she just followed you, maybe you were dared to spend some time in her territory, it happened too many times.
She could see you from the window, standing in her garden, the Lady wondered if you were insane, a shame at such a young age.
When the cold started to get to you again, you moved towards the door, maneuvering the basket so you could knock on the door.
Unfortunately, mid shock Donna forgot to check on Angie, who ran at the door to greet you.
The doll floated straight at your face, staring at your wide eyes. “HI!”
Your mind was running close enough to have smoke coming out of your ears. All you could think was how cool must it be to have a talking doll. So you opened a big smile and giggled. “Hi! Are you floating on your own?”
Angie nodded ferociously. “Damn right I am.”
You were about to talk back when you heard a whispered Angie and the doll excused herself into the house.
And that's when Donna showed herself to you, she expected you to run away when Angie opened the door, it was a nice surprise. “Can I help you?”
You nodded, slightly embarrassed that you didn't have a proper reason. “I wanted to bring you this.” You said, showing the basket. “Christmas is coming and…I heard you lived alone…So there was no one to give you a present. I…um…came to give you a present. I know it's not much, sorry.”
Donna smiled behind the veil, you were so adorable, so innocent…you shouldn't be here. “Your parents must be worried.”
You shrugged. “It’ll take them a few days to notice I’m gone.”
The Lady tilted her head in a silent question.
“Oh you know…they have jobs and stuff…can’t always be around, there are more important things to do, that's all.” You smiled, slightly sad.
Donna was becoming righteously angry, how could they not pay attention to their own daughter, how could they not value their own child.
The woman had to take a deep breath before talking again, being even more alert towards her flowers so they wouldn't answer her emotions. “Do you wish to come in? I believe there's more than I can eat in that basket.”
Your eyes brightened at this. “Yeah! I-I mean, sure, my Lady.”
Donna laughed at this and motioned for you to follow her into the kitchen. “You can call me Donna.”
You mostly ate in silence, Angie would occasionally almost break something but Donna usually stopped her before it happened.
When it was time for you to leave, Angie attached to your leg, staying long enough for a storm to form, therefore…you stayed.
Donna was leading you to your temporary room and Angie was calling every doll in the house for a sleepover party.
The Lady sighed at that. “I apologize for her, it’s been a while since anyone has visited.”
You furrowed your eyebrows. “Why? You’re all so nice.”
Donna fidgeted with her fingers, wondering if she should tell you the truth, what if you hated her too. “No one likes our…games.”
You nodded. “Well, I love games. What kind of game do you like?”
The dollmaker stopped in her tracks and turned to you. “Angie likes hide and seek. I-I like crafting more.”
You smiled brightly at her. “You can build stuff?! Please teach me, pleeease.” You asked, making your best sad face.
Donna laughed and shook her head. “I suppose we can make some dolls until it’s bedtime.”
You nodded so fast it got close to a whiplash.
To say that the next day was upsetting was an understatement. Angie had begged for you to stay for at least half an hour before Donna took her to another room.
The dollmaker was distraught once you left, she knew you weren't her daughter, but your parents sounded so…bad. She would be helping you if you stayed, the outside was too dangerous for someone as kind as you.
But she couldn't kidnap you, what if you hated her for it, what if she made you forget, no she would know you weren't yourself.
That was Donna’s head throughout the entire Christmas eve. The other dolls tried to cheer up the woman but it was useless. The dollmaker would just lay on her couch, waiting for you to come back, heavily considering kidnapping.
However you did come back, sooner than she expected. It was close to midnight when you knocked on her door, she was ready for you, of course she was. You were covered head to toe due to the snow, slightly shivering.
Donna quickly rushed you inside, leaving the dolls to prepare some hot chocolate while she covered you in blankets on the couch.
You were tired, your parents didn't show, only called to say they wouldn't make it for Christmas. You didn't want to be alone.
The dollmaker was concerned over your health, and angry over your parents. But she put it all aside for you. “Do you want to make some cookies? I heard it’s tradition.”
You nodded weakly and followed her to the kitchen, quickly noticing the absence of the little troublemaker. You gently tapped Donna’s shoulder. “Where’s Angie?”
“In her room, I didn't want you to be overwhelmed.”
You pursed your lips and shook your head. “I like it when she’s here.”
Donna nodded and soon enough you heard rushed little steps towards the room.
That was the first time you wished they were your family.
The second time was during Spring, you and Angie were playing tag in the garden, the snow had just started to melt still leaving some ice. The exact moment you slipped, Donna ran to you, thankfully it was only a scraped knee, you were quick to brush it off but the Lady insisted on treating it. She was terrified, but you held her hand the entire time.
The third time was another type of slip. You were trying to make an Italian dish but lightly burned your thumb. You knew Donna wouldn't allow you to touch the oven if she found out and you also knew that Angie was a huge snitch.
Hence you sitting on a stool and Donna bandaging your finger.
This time the Lady wasn't so scared, it took her less than a week after the first incident to notice you were very accident prone. “I’ll finish the dish and you can wait here.”
You were quick to complain. “But it doesn't even hurt, if Angie wasn't a snitch you wouldn't even know.”
Angie, who was attempting to steal cookies from the cabinet, quickly said “Hey!” before returning to her personal mission.
Donna sighed and shook her head. “I said no.”
You pouted. “But mo-Donna.” You froze mid-sentence, blushing furiously.
The dollmaker also froze, happily screaming internally. The woman just smiled at you. “You can help by handing me the ingredients.”
You nodded quickly.

Resident evil 8 Au where Mother Miranda kidnapped Mirabel when she was like 8 or so after watching her family from a distance for a while she infects Mirabel with the black mold instead of the cadou so she is more on power level with Mother Miranda and doesn't have an obvious mutation kinda like Karl. Like Karl she hates mother Miranda but does as she says because she isn't as powerful as her and won't be able to beat her. She doesn't see her family again until they are kidnapped by mother Miranda when she's around 15 maybe 16 they are a gift to her from mother Miranda for her "devotion and hard work". she is the kindest most benevolent of the Lords actually taking care of the people in her territory and trying her best not to be violent like the rest of them though she will kill anyone who tries to hurt her family.

I think that Mother Miranda using direct Cadou makes sense. She actually probably wanted to use her as a vessel. But much like Heisenberg, she despises Miranda. She's just better at not showing it. Unlike the others, like you said, she doesn't have any inheritly noticeable mutations (Lady D, too tall, Donna her eye, Moreau...yeah.)
I think Mother Miranda's favorite in this AU is Mirabel, rather than Karl. I mean obviously. Karl actually doesn't like Mirabel (he doesn't hate her tho), mostly because she's quiet about Mother Miranda and doesn't want to take her on. She knows better. Lady D actually sort of likes her, and treats her with some respect, because Mirabel treats her with respect. Moreau tries to manipulate Mirabel, but as she gets older, she stops falling for it. Donna and her are somewhat?? On a friendly basis, she makes new dresses for her dolls.
Mirabel is freaked out by the big ass baby in the basement. It literally terrifies her 😭😭

I think Mirabel does have a mutation, she just hides it under clothes. I was thinking her power has something to do with bugs, mostly moths, though she likes butterflies and has a butterfly house. Ironically, she had wings, but they're folded under her dress, and they're sort of weak, so she can't fly for too long. Her clothes are supposed to sort of look like a beetle or a ladybugs wings. But she has dragonfly wings. The family dresses up similar to the bug Mirabel associates them with.
Many people in her part of village actually like her. They don't mind her among the lords. Other people from the other villages likes when she visits, and give her (somewhat crude and often disgusting,) gifts. Mirabel hides survivors in the deeper part of the village. She's not supposed to, but she helps them escape. Miranda knows, but doesn't really stop her because she's the favorite. Mirabel sometimes refers to her part of the village as "her own little Encanto". She hates the Black Mold and refuses to acknowledge it as any kind of "god", instead just out right calling it mold. A parasite.

Mirabel deeply misses her family, but she never brings it up to Mother Miranda. Miranda knows, once again, but doesn't act on it. She wanted to keep it a surprise when the Madrigal family, absolutely terrified and traumatized, were brought to her doorstep. No one knows what happened to the (original) Encanto Village, but...you can guess. Mirabel house, which is pretty much a replica of Casita, is alive. Granted, it's a little twisted, and dark and...gloomy. But it's alive. Miranda does give her the candle (she swiped it, because magic), after learning that she has no use for it. Whether the Madrigals have their gifts is up to debate. Mirabel does infect them with black mold. Only a small amount. Like Ethan, they can keep regenerating, or at the very least don't take much damage and repair wounds easily. They essentially can't die, much like her/Ethan. Miranda let's her do it, because Lady D did the same thing with her "daughters", so why can't she? Though...it did sort of mess with their gifts. Biological black mold and magic surprisingly mixed and changed somethings.
Come Ethan (because Mirabel was likely taken in the 1940s), she does help him. The people in her territory don't really like Ethan, I mean they're brainwashed, but they don't attack him unless he attacks them. Ethan is very relieved to learn that Mirabel is kind enough to let him stay in her Casita as a safehouse of sorts. She also just outright gives him her piece of Rose (much to Miranda's dismay). Mirabel, though not have the torso, was give the heart of Rose.
After the events of the game, the BSAA finds out about Mirabel and her family. They are relocated back to Colombia, and out under a protection program like Rosemary.

How about a little dinner time with them?
Dinner time was always the highlight of the day. After a morning of waking up- watching all three of your girlfriends practically tripping over themselves to get to work and joining whichever you were scheduled to be with that day to the very end- coming home to that relief of spending time together as a family was always worth every bitter bead of sweat that rolled down your face. It also helped that cooking dinner together was a major love language for the Benevientos, and while you could never match up to their culinary mastery, you could help out.
This evening, though, you were standing aside while Donna attended to the stove and Claudia set the oven. Bernadette was expertly cutting sheets of pasta, and everyone seemed to be so in sync to the unspoken agreement that lasagna was for dinner. There seemed to be little room for you to lend a helping hand, however, that didn’t stop you from hovering around just in case.
“How was helping Bernadette in the garden today?” The question came from Donna’s lips as she passed by you, pausing just long enough to press her cheek into your shoulder like a cat marking her territory.
“Hot.” You replied without thinking, earning a loud snort from Claudia, reminding you of her gutter-mind. You roll your eyes despite the forming grin across your lips. “Temperature hot, Claudia.”
“Sure.” Claudia replies with a smirk after sticking out her tongue at you. She lets out a few snickers as you give her a wink, earning an audible sigh from the oldest sister. Bernadette shares a look with Donna as the youngest sister is cutting carrots to add to the vegetable stir-fry still in progress on the stove.
“They were wonderful help.” Bernadette states as she steps aside, letting Claudia take over layering the lasagna and putting it into the oven. Her hands find an abandoned hand towel, and the fingers hook on the fabric to wipe off whatever edible debris clung to their pores. “Got a little too distracted with the hose though.”
“To be fair, you were flexing.” You counter, earning a Cheshire smile from the oldest sister as she leans back on her elbows against the counter.
“I was using the wheelbarrow, dolcezza.”
A hot blush starts to form across your cheeks as the Italian rolls along Bernadette’s deep voice like melted metal in a mold. No matter how often the Benevientos spoke their mother tongue to you, it still had you rather frazzled hearing it every damn time.
“You didn’t drown the tulips, did you?” Donna’s voice breaks you out of it, and you frantically shake your head to deny the idea.
“No!” You chirp, your blush darkening now in embarrassment as the dollmaker quirks a brow at you. “I just- uh…”
“Lemme guess.” Claudia says, shutting the oven to emphasize her voice. “You made another pond in the middle of some random plot of dirt Bernadette was preparing to plant.”
Now your face is scolding, and you groan- hiding the hue in your hands- unable to escape the situation now. A round of endearing giggles go around the kitchen as the sisters coo at your adorable display, making it easy to accept your embarrassment and giggle, raising your head from the grasps of your fingers. It’s true that you weren’t as skilled as the sisters in their respective fields. Compared to them, you were decent at things, but knew a lot of skills- a bit of a jack-of-all-trades- but the trade-off was that you didn’t have astonishing knowledge in anything. Well, at least the things the Beneviento sisters were into.
Bernadette was the easiest to work with. You liked days with her a lot, even if it was going to be physically demanding. The oldest sister with her psychology background and job as a therapist meant that she almost always seemed to know what was spiraling in your head, with the patience of a thousand gods, and her choice words always made your chest burst with warmth and eyes explode with grateful tears. If the two of you weren’t labouring away in the gardens around the manor, you were venting your woes to each other somewhere in the forest.
Claudia was the next easiest to work with. She worked as the village doctor and was overflowing with altruism. She fortunately had the energy to match such a demanding job, and most of the time you were basically there to deliver supplies and check inventory, on rare occasions you would help with treatments. Due to the nature of her job, Claudia has a pretty no-bullshit attitude during work, which tends to give you whiplash compared to her silly personality at home. Just another quirky facet of her that you’ve fallen in love with over the years.
Unfortunately, as much as you simply adored spending time with Donna, you were pretty useless when it came to helping her make dolls. Much of the time you were there to parallel work together, or to keep Angie entertained. Nevertheless, the system you both figured out is one that you look forward to each time, and if things get done sooner… well-
“Hey.” Claudia’s voice snaps you out of your wandering thoughts, and you blink back to reality to see her waving a hand in your face. “Back to Earth, idiota.”
She snaps her fingers at you, throwing her arm in various directions as she does so, making you laugh.
“Okay, okay! Back to Earth, I’m back to Earth-” You reassure, raising your hands in surrender as Claudia chuckles, flicking your forehead.
“I’m surprised the gravity can hold down your air head.” Claudia jests, giving your cheek a quick peck before slinking away down the halls. You watch her go, rubbing the spot where her lips graced your skin with a dreamy smile, turning your attention back to the other two.
Donna had finished her dish and was helping Bernadette set the table. The dollmaker gestures for you to sit down and begin eating while the lasagna cooks in the oven, and you happily stride over to the chair. Bernadette takes a seat across from you, sipping her tea while Donna pours your cup.
“Thank you, beautiful.” You praise, raising a hand to cup the dollmaker’s cheek. She leans into the touch with a smile, almost purring as she soaked in your affection like a sponge. The moment doesn’t last long, as Donna pulls away quickly to pour tea for herself, but little moments like that feel so much longer. They replay in your head often. Gosh her smile really did things to your brain chemistry.
The three of you begin treating the vegetable dish and cups of tea while making small talk. It starts with a simple discussion on what the plans were for tomorrow, and derailed into various other topics that somehow managed to come up. Sometimes Bernadette and Donna would exchange words in Italian, bits and pieces you’d recognize, but not enough to piece together what they were talking about. One time, Donna said something that made Bernadette laugh, and you laughed at Donna’s shocked expression. You had said something to affectionately tease her, and Donna stopped chewing her food to stare daggers at you. It would have been scary, if one of her cheeks wasn’t swollen with food like a little chipmunk, making you laugh harder.
The moment is broken when there’s a sudden loud crash in the distance. All conversation comes to a screeching halt as the thud echoes vaguely in the large manor. A moment of silence passes before a loud “DONNNNNNNNNNNNNNA!!” howls across the estate in Claudia’s voice. On cue, Donna sets down her tea and stands up from her chair- the back of her knees pushing it back with a sound of wood scraping on wood- flattening her dress with a brisk few brushes of her hands.
“I’ll be excusing myself.” She says with a huge, shit-eating grin, walking away with a fast clop-clop of her heeled boots.
You and Bernadette share smiles as there’s the sound of approaching footsteps, only a moment later with Claudia bursting into the kitchen, torso soaked.
“Where’d she go?!” The middle child demands, moving wet strands of hair out of her eyes.
“She excused herself.” Bernadette states while taking a sip of her tea. You reaffirm the statement with a nod of your head. Claudia growls and stomps through the room in the direction Donna disappeared down, plotting her prank to get back at the youngest sister.
Once all was silent again, Bernadette took another sip of tea.
“You got plans tonight?” She pipes up towards you, and you shake your head in response. “Donna was asking me if she could have time with you tonight, before you go with Claudia tomorrow.”
“Hm? Oh sure, what for?” You inquire, shoving vegetables in your mouth. You had begun chewing them until Bernadette gave you a sultry smile, causing your mastication to slow until it stopped, paralyzed and unable to swallow.
Now you know what it was. Earlier Bernadette had taken you against a tree when the two of you were supposed to be trimming bushes, and earlier than that Claudia had to do the laundry in the morning after she woke you up with choice placement of her hands.
Right as you were thinking about the evening with Donna, the oven beeps, and Bernadette brightens out of her darkened gaze to an almost child-like grin.
“Be a dear and fetch the others for dinner.” She says, and you’ve finally found the strength to swallow, nodding as you stand up and head in the direction the other two did earlier. You also make a mental note to find Angie, who must still be napping after being continuously interrupted by a “busy” night.

The Four Lords When They are Jealous

Alcina Dimitrescu
-Alcina only really gets jealous when you are away from her to be around someone else, mostly the other lords. Sometimes you go out into the village, and that can drive her nuts too.
-She gets dangerous when she’s jealous. After all, Alcina is a very territorial woman when it comes to those she cares about. But we all know she won’t admit her jealousy, but she doesn’t have to. Everyone knows when she is.
-Even her daughters aren’t safe from her over obsessive behavior. When she’s in a jealous mood, Alcina will even snap at her daughters for being around you. 
-We’ve all seen how her temper can get the best of her, but Alcina manages to immediately calm down whenever you divert your attention back to her. You have the power to tame the dragon inside her.
-She’s willing to keep you clasped in her arms if that’s what it takes to calm her jealously. With Alcina being how she is, you can’t put up a fight and end up being carried around like a rag doll. 
-We all know that Heisenberg would push her to her limits. He would pull you away, spend time with you, all to see how long it takes for her claws to come out.
-Mother Miranda put a stop to that pretty quick.
-However, when her jealous rage has calmed down, she apologies (not to Heisenberg) but to you for any trouble she may have given you. Then it’s wine and soft hugs as her daughters join the two of you around the fire.

Donna Beneviento (and Angie)
-Donna gets jealous easily and over petty things. It could be you simply paying attention to someone else for even as short as a minute. However, it’s hard to tell when or why Donna will get jealous because she doesn’t say much.
-While Alcina’s jealously is scary, Donna’s is terrifying. It’s simply because she is so unpredictable. Will she be angry this time? Mopey? Ready to kill the next person who is with you? The only person who knows that is Donna. 
-Because of this, the way she deals with it is different. She’ll either hold onto you like a newborn baby or avoid you till the point it drives her nuts. You have to intervene to help her on that last one.
-However, the humorous part of this is that Angie also gets jealous, so the two jealousies mix together to create this unholy monster. Sometimes they even get into fights with each other.
-The other lords are so scared of Donna’s unpredictable jealous emotions that they stay far away from you. Even Heisenberg is afraid of her.
-You find her jealously to be kind of wholesome due to the fact she’s never really had someone to stay close to her. Her relatives all since died out, so you were the closest thing she had left to family. Her jealously is understandable.
-Even if it gets out of hand sometimes.
-But when (and if) Donna leaves her jealous stage, she turns back into that quiet and sweet doll maker who is offering you some tea. All she really needs is some reassurance and attention from you in order to go back to her normal self.

Salvatore Moreau
-Moreau gets jealous whenever your attention is drawn onto something or someone who isn’t him. It takes about five whole minutes for him to voice his “concerns” that he’s boring you or something.
-While the other lords are kind of scary when they are jealous, Moreau is not. That said, he does get easily jealous out of all the lords and kind of turns into a pouty mess whenever you aren’t paying attention to him.
-He isn’t afraid to say how he’s feeling or hold you close to him in order to make himself feel better. That said, he does feel bad about his actions after the fact.
-When Moreau is feeling jealous, he tends to try and keep you away from the other lords. It might be kind of possessive and controlling, but you know he means no harm in it.
-You don’t mind giving in to his possessive nature when he’s jealous. After all, Moreau gets bullied quite a bit by the other lords, and you know he deserves just as much love and attention as anyone else. His jealous nature comes from his insecurities.
-Heisenberg takes advantage of this the most, not caring about how Moreau feels.
-This is when you will literally fight the metal man because no one lets our fish boy feel this way, especially if he’s doing it on purpose. Moreau starts to feel less jealous the more you stick up for him.
-When Moreau feels less jealous, honestly, he’s not that much different. However, he will be sorry if he acted out in anyway, especially if you were ever annoyed or irritated. But hey, he’s never had someone like you, so you give him a break.

Karl Heisenberg
-Heisenberg gets jealous over literally anything. If could be a person, animal, or inanimate object. He just kind stand the fact that your attention is not on him. It makes him think that there’s something about him that you don’t like.
-When he gets jealous, he turns into a terrifying and aggressive monster. Heaven forbid any soldat or lycan dare cross his path when he’s in a jealous rage. They will die.
-He tries his best not to get angry at you, but Heisenberg has a bad temper, so he sometimes snaps. This usually leads to fight because he also won’t tell you why he’s in such a bad mood, leaving you to guess.
-If you call him out for being jealous, Heisenberg will deny it. But he will deny it in such a way that you know you’re right. It’s at this point that any irritation you have fades away and you tease him.
-Alcina will also tease him to, leading to someone nearly getting killed.
-If he’s actually upset at your teasing at the fact that he’s jealous, you will stop. Then you will hug him and kiss him until he feels better. Heisenberg just needs his confidence back again.
-Heisenberg will get a bit possessive, not feeling bad about it at all. The way he sees it, he has a right to protect the one thing that has made him happy in his entire horrible life. You are all that matters to him, you and getting out of this village.
-When he’s not feeling jealous anymore, he will act like he was never jealous to begin with. Heisenberg will just continue with his normal day and any teasing you give him ends with a flick to the forehead.

  “As a matter of fact,” said Francis, “he was with you.” He glanced at Henry, and to my surprise the two of them began to laugh.   “What? What’s so funny?” I said, alarmed.   This sent them into fresh peals of laughter. “Nothing,” said Francis at last.   “Really, it is nothing,” said Henry, with a bemused little sigh. “The oddest things make me laugh these days.”
I would give anything to know if Donna Tartt herself had any idea what these two jokers were laughing about. Did she know? Or did she just throw this into the scene as an example of how Richard is never really part of the group?
People are always talking about Richard as an unreliable narrator and a clueless idiot and a liar. But I don’t think you can underestimate how much Richard is lied to and manipulated by the rest of them. And they are so, so good at it.
In a passage not long after the one above, Richard accompanies the gang (minus Bunny) on a drive in the country and dinner at an out-of-the-way restaurant frequented only by locals. It’s an odd interlude that seems to go on longer than it should, and not have much impact on anything that comes after it. But it’s the perfect example of why you need to read TSH more than once. It’s only after you know what’s going to happen that a section like this makes sense.
The drive takes place the day after Henry has told Richard about the bacchanal. Camilla goes to Richard’s room and asks him to take a ride with the rest of them. Richard, still burning off some tranquilizer or other, follows Camilla to Commons and finds the other four waiting for him. “The configuration struck me as significant,” he says, “everyone except for Bunny...”
It’s not the absence of Bunny that’s important here, it’s the presence of Richard. They’re at a crucial moment with him. He’s only known about the bacchanal for a few hours, and they can’t take a chance on what he’s going to do next.
Henry has a very sharp understanding of Richard’s insecurity and need to belong...I know he sees Richard more clearly than Richard can see himself. Henry knows that the most vital thing right now is for Richard to feel like one of them, and to begin thinking of Bunny as the outsider.
It’s no coincidence that Camilla is the one who comes to collect Richard for this little jaunt. I’m sure that Henry deliberately sent her up to his room, or she thought of it herself. They know that Richard’s infatuated with her, and so what better way to get his guard down? He’ll follow her anywhere, the poor sap.
After that, everything is very friendly and cozy, even as the countryside they’re driving through grows increasingly ominous:
I found it difficult to get my bearings, and it seemed as if we were heading into strange and unmarked territory...It was dark now. Around us, the countryside lay veiled and mysterious, silent in the night and fog. This was remote, untraveled land, rocky and thickly wooded, with none of the quaint appeal of Hampden and its rolling hills, its ski chalets and antique shops, but high and perilous and primitive, everything black and desolate even of billboards.
I’ve lived in northern New England, and I can attest to the fact that an ordinary drive can go from quaint to creepy in the space of a few miles, especially at dusk in the winter. Donna Tartt uses this real-life regional phenomenon to great effect. She removes Richard from the familiar environs of the campus and casts him into such a foreboding and lonely wilderness that Henry’s car, and the little group of friends inside, feels like a refuge of warmth and fellowship.
For the rest of this scene, Richard sees his friends (at least he thinks they’re his friends) as almost magical. Their elegant appearance arouses curiosity at the rundown inn where they have dinner, but not disapproval. They make a great impression on a young waiter and Richard is awed by Henry’s “genuine knack” with “simple, country folk” and his ability to chat comfortably with the waiter as an equal. The passage closes with Richard realizing that he feels “curiously happy, and at ease with the world.”
It’s notable that immediately after this section, we get page after page of Richard suddenly attuned to Bunny’s faults and transgressions. Eight pages after that dinner at the Housatonic Inn, Richard flatly states that he has grown to “abhor” Bunny. So as far as that little road trip is concerned...mission accomplished.
I’m often relieved that Donna Tartt became a writer, and not just because I love her books. Without such a positive creative outlet, heaven only knows what a mind this diabolical might have gotten up to.

~ chapter 1 ~
Dana Scott always knew that Harvey didn't belong to her. Spectrum was a cat walking by himself. Proud, nobody's, independent, rarely given into the hands and then only to selected people. It was enough for Dana Scott to be so chosen.
Good sex, pleasant conversations, exciting battles and negotiations, but more often — the perfect compromise that they found. This synergy between them… Dana cared about it, she liked it, so she was glad to return to New York. Harvey was now the senior partner and aimed higher (to match her). He was still damn good-looking (especially with a new hairstyle). It was supposed to be a pleasant adventure.
Harvey Specter was domesticated while she was building her life in London. Scotty realizes this the moment he gently removes her hand from his face and moves away, drawing a line between them. "Don't get involved, this is someone else's territory," says his whole pose. "Your visa is expired," Scotty sneers to himself, choking on bitterness.
Dana feels almost insulted. She can't do anything about this feeling because she's been special since Harvard. Yes, not a girlfriend or a lover, but someone much closer, bigger. There were so many things that connected them, and sex was just a drop in this sea. The threads stretched and intertwined into a unique pattern. Therefore, Dana can't get rid of the thought that she was deprived of something.
She understands the groundlessness of these claims. They never promised each other anything, but it hurts her to tears. Scotty wanted more. I couldn't escape from it, so I ran away from my fiance.
Dana also understands that it was her choice and she has no right to demand anything from Harvey. But she has a hole the size of Manhattan in her chest, and there's a reason for that.
"Who is she?" Scotty asks on the plane when they are sitting on opposite sides of the cabin because she is being pushed away again, but now insistently and clearly, with words.
Harvey arches an eyebrow and snorts, enjoying her whiskey and not even going to answer. As if she doesn't have enough reminders that he changed the locks, and her name is no longer on the free access list.
"Donna?", randomly beats Scotty, unable to remember another woman close to him.
A woman who could own the heart of Harvey Specter. Voluntarily given away. Never belonging to her!
Spectrum laughs, leaning back in his seat as if he finds the very possibility that he can sleep with the goddess Donna funny.
"There was definitely something between you," Dana shrugs because she's not blind either.
"I'm not stupid enough to have an affair with my super secretary," Harvey finally deigns to answer, finishing his whiskey.
"I'll have to give her your characterization", Scotty teases him without malice, remembering what Donna is capable of when she hears the word secretary.
"The check at the end of the month calls her just super for me," Harvey snorts.
He has become softer, Dana notices and feels a poisonous envy.
"Then Zoey?" Does she still work for you? Dana gets up from her seat and walks over to Harvey.
He gives her his famous grin of the best closer in New York. There is so much falsehood in it that you can draw buckets. It feels like a slap in the face, like the most vile insult.
Harvey Spectrum is now a minefield with a chain-link fence and warning signs through every centimetre. For the first time, Dana learns what politeness is in the Spectrum. When all touches are treated unambiguously, and flirting is a tribute to a beautiful woman.
The proud, independent cat now has a master. And the majestic creature, like a devoted dog, no longer looks at others. Just loses interest.

Several months ago, when I first started playing around with Doctor Who analysis as it pertained to Stranger Things, I decided to watch one of my favorite episodes for fun:
Season 4, Episode 11: Midnight
I posted some screenshots of it because some of the lines/ideas presented in it are very.... y'know. And while I didn't go into the episode with any memory of similarities to st, I found myself surprised by the number of shared details between the two shows. So, I figured... why not make a little postie about it?
So, the episode stars the Doctor and his companion, Donna, visiting a crystalline planet named Midnight. Donna stays behind for a spa day at the so-called "Leisure Palace" that's been erected as a tourist spot while the Doctor goes on a many-hours-long shuttle tour to a sapphire waterfall. The planet itself is extremely dangerous with an entirely uninhabitable atmosphere - there is absolutely no life on the planet, aside from visitors who are in highly equipped buildings and vehicles that stave off the literally vaporizing planet exterior.
Thus, with Donna staying behind, the Doctor is now alone with a bus full of strangers, who tuck in for their long trek to the crystal falls.
Just to get the other characters out of the way for clarity's sake, we have the hostess, a lone passenger named Sky, husband and wife Biff and Val Kane and their son Jethro, and Professor Hobbes and his assistant Dee Dee. There's also a driver and a mechanic on board who are in the cockpit.
The driver explains to them all that they're taking a slight detour, as part of the usual path has been obstructed by debris, and they begin their venture into totally uncharted territory.
While normally the bus has myriad entertainment for the long trip, the Doctor, using his Sonic Screwdriver, shuts down the overwhelming number of devices, which results in all of the passengers talking and getting to know each other better. We get several short scenes of everyone talking and laughing, sharing stories and such. Most notably, the Doctor sits with Sky over lunch and they chat about why they're there. The Doctor explains he didn't come here alone, he's with Donna, but she didn't want to come along the tour. Sky explains that she's recently become single because "she (her partner) needed her own space" and is still getting used to traveling alone.
Prof. Hobbes even gives a brief presentation on the planet Midnight. It's his specialty, and he's been on this exact tour to the falls 14 times now.

This is emphasized a lot through the episode: there's no life on the planet, no one has ever set foot on it or touched it in any actual way, and they really don't know what's out there, aside from the general agreement that there shouldn't be any life that can exist on its surface. As I said earlier, they've even taken a path different from the normal route, so they wind up in places that literally no one has ever been before.

While it's confirmed that both the UD and Dimension X contain forms of life in the shape of the democreatures and the Shadow, the sentiment reminded me a lot of Vecna's whole "unspoiled by mankind" thing; and Henry's exclamation in the VR game that "there's life" in the UD, as if it's a surprise.
Then, suddenly, the bus stops. It shudders, the lights flicker briefly, and they come to a halt for seemingly no reason. Everyone is immediately concerned, especially Sky, who snaps that there's "no point in denying it" when Prof. Hobbes explains that the buses never stop on these tours.
The Doctor weasels his way into the cockpit to talk to the driver and mechanic to see what's up, and they all confirm that nothing is actually wrong, they've simply stopped. As they're stopped, the Doctor goads the driver into lifting the screens on the windows (as seen in the last screenshots) just to get a glimpse of the planet in the few minutes of safety they have behind the glass. However, the mechanic spots something strange.

No further comment necessary.
When the Doctor returns to the other passengers, Sky is still agitated. Dee Dee probes him on his explanation that the engines are "just stabilizing" because they're "micropetrol" engines that don't stabilize. When Prof. Hobbes further asks what's wrong, the Doctor gives a non-answer. Someone throws out the question of how much air they have; Val and Biff overhear and ask, frantic, what they just said. Even the hostess gives a non-answer when asked if they're running out of air, what's going on, etc. etc., until everyone, frightened, begins yelling over one another. The Doctor quiets everyone down and Dee Dee explains that these buses are designed to filter air so they won't run out, shutting down that fear. However, they still don't know why they've stopped.
Then, something bangs on the outside of the bus - two knocks. Prof. Hobbes and Dee Dee try to explain it away with the metal of the bus cooling/settling or rocks falling on the sides. However, the banging happens again and again, moving down the length of the bus. Again, it's (allegedly) impossible for anyone to be outside. The knocking even moves to the back emergency exit, where it begins trying to rattle with the door handle.

"It" is what "Henry" calls the Shadow in TFS rather than "he."
The banging moves to the roof of the bus before trying the main entrance. Biff knocks on the door three times, and the mystery knocking returns the three knocks. The Doctor knocks four times, and it returns four times. Now it's confirmed that it's something sentient. Sky is especially freaked out by this.

When the bus finally settles again, Jethro notices that Sky is sitting, crouched, on the floor at the front of the bus with her hands on her head. The seats around her have been ripped off the floor, as if by some unnatural strength. The Doctor approaches her to comfort her, telling her they're alright and the wall of the bus is still intact, though horribly dented inward.
The hostess can't get ahold of the driver, and thus tries the door to the cockpit, only to find that it's been entirely ripped off of the front of the bus. They slam the door shut before anyone can get sucked out. Thankfully, a distress signal and their location had already been sent out, but the driver and mechanic are dead, "reduced to dust." Like they were...... dematerialized......
The Doctor re-approaches Sky in an attempt to get her to come out of hiding. Jethro comments that the knocking has stopped, but what if that means it's now inside? "It was heading for her," he says as he nods toward Sky, who the Doctor is finally pulling out of hiding. However, when she turns to look at them all, she's unnatural. Her gaze flicks rapidly between everyone as she stares, wide-eyed and blank, like she's studying them. The Doctor cocks his head at her, and she cocks hers back. He asks her name, and she repeats it back to him.
He begins asking if she's hurt, etc., and she repeats the same questions and phrases right back to him. When the others start speaking, she whips her head toward them and echoes their words as well.

Again, no further comment necessary, aside from a quick link to Em's post about doppelgangers and making a special highlight of "when One kills, he consumes."
This continues to frighten everyone, who begin talking over each other and yelling at Sky to stop copying them when she, obviously, continues. Jethro gleefully begins shouting silly things to get her to repeat, specifically yelling "666." Ah, Victor Creel, emo kid Colin Morgan would've believed you when you said it was a demon.
Only when the backup power system kicks on does everyone get startled out of their panic, but as the hostess is telling everyone to calm down, they find that Sky's condition has progressed...

Here I also want to point out the growing change in Sky's physical demeanor. At first, as seen in the previous set of screenshots, her expression is fairly blank. However, as seen above, she starts to appear almost smug. And this continues through the episode; even the cadence of her voice is almost sing-song-y and smarmy. This isn't actually pointed out in the show, nor is there any clear explanation offered, but in my opinion it's likely due to the entity feeding off of/finding glee in the fear its behavior instills in the passengers, and likely beginning to pull from the actual personalities of the people on board to form something other than a blank slab repeating words.
The Doctor speaks with to her directly again, asking if it's really Sky, asking how she's doing this, and pondering what the "next stage" is. When someone asks if it's not Sky anymore, the Doctor says he doesn't think so and ushers everyone to the back of the bus, as far away from Sky as possible (though this doesn't stop her from echoing them).

The Doctor urges them to not even look at Sky, and Dee Dee quotes Christina Rossetti's "Goblin Market," specifically the lines, "We must not look at goblin men, we must not buy their fruits: Who knows upon what soil they fed Their hungry thirsty roots." I don't quite have the bandwidth to delve deeper into this whole poem, as it's quite long, but shout out to the word "roots."

Another shout out to the word "sick" here, especially when we were told earlier in the episode that Sky is queer. Thank you Stav for your words in the words show analysis.
Much like how the Shadow was confirmed in TFS to feed off of fear/is triggered by fear, this entity clearly sought out the fear in Sky and found her a suitable target. It's never outright confirmed or explained, but this is a fairly easy assumption to reach based off of how frantic Sky was, more so than anyone else on board. As for "monster" getting struck down in favor of her just being a woman... well, no further comment necessary, once again.
The Doctor speaks to everyone about how while there's a consciousness inside of Sky, she might still be in there and they have to help her. However, everyone is too afraid to get near her, to the point that the hostess suggests they throw her out instead. Val cries about how she can't even look at Sky's eyes (a sentiment that's been stated already and comes up again; they're frightened by how she's looking at them, which reminds me of the weirdness with eyes and eye-color changing in ST that James and Em have spoken about).
There's a lot of back and forth, with most people hesitantly then enthusiastically agreeing that they should throw her out, because maybe if they kill the physical body, it'll remove the threat, but the Doctor pleads with them not to kill anyone. He asks if they really want to meet this new life form and show they're just a bunch of murderers, or will they decide they're better than that?
Ultimately, all fearful, they, one by one, agree that they could, in fact, throw her out with no remorse.

When people still don't back down, the Doctor says they'll have to go through him first if they want to throw out Sky, and everyone sorta just goes "...okay." The Doctor asks, again, if any of them could really grab hold of someone and chuck them out the door. His insistence begins making them suspicious, and they all start to turn on him. The Doctor insists he's frightened and confused just like them; he isn't in on this, he's not "working with" Sky, but he, trying to hide his identity and being naturally fascinated by this never-before-seen lifeform, only makes them more wary of him. Val even says that "his eyes are the same as hers... It's a symptom!" and he's accused of lying from the very start of their trip. They all begin to believe that he's somehow involved with what's going on with Sky and threaten to throw him out with her.
Then, Jethro, again, notices a change.

She's latched onto the Doctor alone, likely because of his heightened fear due to having his life threatened. Val once again uses this as evidence that they're working together, but the Doctor ignores her and crouches in front of Sky. He asks her why she's "captured" his speech. He wonders if the entity has picked up that he's the smartest one there as a Time Lord rather than a human, and maybe it's chosen him because he's the only one who can help, whether it be giving the entity "life or form or consciousness or voice," and insists she doesn't have to "steal" it. However, he also sees the look in her eyes, and gets the feelings it's not help the entity wants.
He promises to help her, asking "Do we have a deal?" But the words come out of Sky's mouth first.
When the others ask the Doctor what's happening, Sky answers first, saying, "I think it's moved. I think it's letting me go." As they speak to Sky, they all come to the conclusion that this entity has moved from her and into the Doctor instead. Dee Dee, however, seems unconvinced. She's ignored, though, in favor of listening to Sky as she expresses that she's "coming back to life."
When they get Sky back onto her feet, this conversation ensues:

It's a lot of similar language to stuff about the UD and the flayings, especially irt Will in st2 and Henry listed as being "possessed" in the Weekly Watcher and possibly having an exorcism. I continue to be shocked by how so many episodes in Doctor Who revolve around concepts that are so akin to the Shadow.

Sigh. Once again, no additional comment necessary, aside from another Stav post about blood.
I want to emphasize the change in pronoun use. Throughout ST, most often the Mind Flayer/Shadow and Vecna have had "he" used for both of them, as they've become conflated. However, in TFS, "it" is solely used to refer to the Shadow. Throughout this dw episode, "it" and "she" were used quite interchangeably when speaking about Sky, and same here, we get this use of "it" and "he" for the Doctor, starting out separate with "it went into him" until he just becomes one whole entity under "he." It's conflating things, narrowing it down to be "easier to understand."
Dee Dee shouts that it's not the Doctor who's doing it, he's "just repeating." However, that's what it did the first time, so it's the same this time, right? Dee Dee disagrees, saying that this seems like the progression the Doctor talked about earlier; this is the next stage, not the entity having moved to a new host.

Val, frustrated, insists that she saw it move from her to him, despite none of them having seen such a thing, simply assuming it instead. Even Jethro is hesitant to agree with his mom, but ultimately does so when she pushes him. Everyone begins arguing as Dee Dee continues to say that it's not inside the Doctor, and Sky smugly says that, "That's how he does it. He makes you fight. Creeps into your head... and whispers... inside." It's all very “Henry” being goaded into killing animals by the Shadow in TFS, and the Shadow and Shadow Brenner talking to and taunting Henry in the VR game.
Being egged on and having their assumptions confirmed by Sky, Biff grabs the Doctor and begins dragging him toward the door to throw him out. The Doctor, now frozen due to being controlled/taken over by the entity, cannot fight back and simply continues repeating what Sky says.
However, Sky begins saying things that, through the episode, were established as being things the Doctor specifically says (the phrases "molto bene" and "allons-y" being common catchphrases in this episode and through David Tennant's three seasons). The hostess takes immediate notice of this, since she was present for the times he used these phrases, and she finally really realizes that Sky has taken his voice. Under the clamor, Sky is saying that, "The starlight waits! The emptiness. The Midnight sky."
Acting fast, the hostess rushes Sky and grabs her, hits the button to the emergency exit door, and throws out herself and Sky. The door automatically shuts behind them before anyone else can be affected by the atmosphere, instantly cutting off the Doctor from the entity, and he falls to the floor, muttering that, "It's gone, it's gone..."
Golly, did I say this post would be little? Sorry, I am incapable of making these posts without listing out the entire plot of the episodes so you guys have full context! Anyway.
What I really wanted to talk about irt this episode was the immense focus on fear, and specifically fear of the unknown and how that makes people behave in illogical, dangerous ways. It's a lot of knee-jerk reactions and wanting to swiftly remove the threat before fully understanding what the threat actually is. We don't even know if Sky could have actually been saved! She very well may have still been alive underneath the entity, but in the mess of everything, they couldn't take the time to figure it out and actually try to save her.
Obviously, all of that made me think of things with the Shadow, and especially of Will in st2 when he fully changes as a person/seems to be entirely taken over with everyone else being hard-pressed to break through to him.
However, more specifically, everything else about it just screams the situation around Henward, and specifically what we see in TFS.
"Henry" is dealing with something unknown having taken over his mind and body, feeling urges that do not belong to him that he's being pushed into anyway. But what drives the mess deeper and deeper is the fact that people (Virginia, Patty, etc.) are frightened of him. They think it's him and not something else making him do these awful things. They refuse to actually help him, or even listen to him to figure out what would actually best help him, thus condemning him... essentially to death, just like Sky, all because they simply don't understand and are scared of that.
They listen to their own fear instead of understanding that Henry is scared too. This is also an issue with the fandom at large, but we won’t get into that rn.
Similarly, the Party and the rest of our main cast are, understandably, scared of Vecna. However, it’s clouded their judgement. We all know I’m a huge proponent of the “there’s more than one guy” theory, and thus this issue of conflating people and things leads to poor decisions when it comes to trying to fix the issue, ultimately resulting in a worse outcome.
In Midnight, the rest of the passengers, terrified and frazzled, believe the first and simplest solution presented to them: the entity has left Sky and instead entered the Doctor. Therefore, if they throw the Doctor out of the bus, the problem will be solved; they'll be safe. However, obviously, this isn't the case, and due to their misunderstanding, they would turn a completely innocent man to dust and still have the entity residing among them.
Similarly, in st4, we're presented with a "new" villain: Vecna. Our team has discovered that the source behind everything that's happened to them is this one guy locked in another dimension, hidden in (more or less) plain sight. He is wreaking havoc and boasting about it, but it feels like a very big, flashy way to cover up another, more long-existing villain that's been present since the start of the show: HNL and, specifically, Brenner.
Take a victim -> Push him into unsavory acts -> Mold him into a villain, whether in real life or in retellings (lies) of his existence -> Hide in his shadow and fall out of focus.
It all feels a little too planned, y'know? Because the beginning of everything can always be traced back to the lab, but suddenly it's like everyone has forgotten the roots of the tree and decided to chop off one of the branches and call it good.
Which leads me into a brief thought I had about NINA when I was watching this dw episode, which was spurred by the characters claiming their voices were "stolen" or "captured" by Sky. Especially once Sky fully captured the Doctor's voice and was speaking "on her own." She uses his voice to goad the others into killing him, which, presumably, would have given the entity full control/absorption of his voice.
I've said it already, but the goading feels very akin to TFS Brenner saying things to Henry like "you liked it" irt killing animals, putting words in his mouth and conflating Henry's personal feelings with the desires of the Shadow. Or even of the Shadow and Shadow Brenner taunting Henry in the VR game, telling him that he always loved snapping bones and killing things, but we never actually hear Henry confirm this. The Shadow and Brenner are often "stealing" Henry's voice by way of putting words in his mouth and thoughts in his head that he wouldn't have on his own.
But circling back to NINA specifically, it makes me think of Henward being used as a puppet for Brenner's meddling. Brenner has stolen Henward's voice, his looks, his mannerisms, in order to say and do things that Henward may never have said or done on his own in order to paint a specific picture for El.
And, again, because El is scared, because she doesn't understand what's going on or have the resources to even try, she simply lashes out. Remove the threat and she'll be safe. No matter if this is the real threat; he's an immediate threat in her eyes, therefore he's her target. Killing him is the closest answer she has to "solving" everything.
It's high-stakes situations, fear of the unknown, and mob mentality that results in the passengers on Midnight and our Hawkins gang having their knees knocked out from under them. Without taking the time to think, to stay calm, to mull over their options, they will always come to the wrong conclusions and not fix things like they hoped.
In st4, they're scared and on a time crunch, and with only some of the necessary information at their disposal, they're going to work with what they've got, even if they'd find contradictions if they looked just a little bit harder. They have their immediate threat, someone they can point at and see harm happening because of them, so why see if there's someone else hiding in his shadow? Why waste their, quite literally, precious time when they can, theoretically, still do good with what they have?

On Donna (and Claudia) Beneviento
So, having spent the last couple of months absorbed in the world of RE: Village, somehow what’s really got my inner-canon-sleuth going this time is the issue of timelines. Just how long was Miranda posing as Mia before she was found out? Just how old are each of the Four Lords of the village? The game’s not telling us, but can I puzzle it out…
There are probably no ‘canonical’ answers to questions like this, at least in the sense of ‘answers the writers have agreed on and written down.’ Even putting aside all the usual complications of writing for games, RE: Village is a horror title structured around a gothic fairy tale: genres built on dream-logic and atmosphere. You may as well ask the ‘canonical’ backstory of Cinderella’s evil stepmother, or Dracula’s three ‘brides’: there isn’t one, because that’s not the point.

And yet, RE: Village provides just enough tantalising hints that I can’t resist the challenge of hunting answers that are, if not definitive, at least consistent with all the (limited) information we get. Which is how I wound up writing up this whole spiel about the four lords and who joined the family when (now up over here) – only to realise that the section on Donna Beneviento alone was getting so long it really needed its own post – so here we are.
Here's what stands out about Donna: Miranda has (very canonically) been experimenting on her villagers for a full century. Her daughter’s death in the Spanish Flu pandemic of 1919 is as explicit as anything in this game gets. The four lords and their household crests are presented like an institution that’s been around for generations (Do Not Ask why a small Romanian village needs as many as four lords. It’s a fairy tale, and that’s the wrong question).
And yet, Donna herself logically can’t have joined Miranda’s family any more recently than 1996 – a mere 24 years ago.

We know this, because it’s the year of death on Claudia Beneviento’s grave (1987-1996) – and that grave already existed when she was adopted by Mother Miranda. What little we know about Donna’s past comes from her gardener’s diary, and he talks about both in entries only days apart. There’s no year provided, but the dates are November 10-29. It could have been 1997, it could have been 2019 – but it’s a year I’m old enough to remember either way.
So did it really take Miranda that long to ‘complete’ her little family collection? Or could there have been a previous cadou-empowered Lord or Lady Beneviento? And should I be reading so much into a date on a gravestone, which for all I know should have read 1896, and which made it into the game by accident? I have no idea, but we're going with it anyway.
But wait: we have more dates! We never meet the gardener himself, but he’s given the name Josef Simon in the note he left on the Iuthier house in the village. And if he left that note in person, he must have been still living in the village as recently as 2017, because (and this is where it all gets deep into nerd-analysis territory), there’s a child’s drawing on the wall of Iuthier’s house dated to that year.

Why does this matter? Well, his last diary entry ominously ends with him taking an invitation to visit Donna’s house to see his ‘departed wife’. And that’s all the more ominous, considering the Duke’s statement that ‘none of her playmates have ever returned’ – not to mention, well, everything that happens to Ethan down there. The looming implication is that the gardener died soon after writing that last entry – meaning those entries were written after he’d shut up the Iuthier house, meaning that Donna only became her mould-empowered self as recently as 2017 (or even more recently still).
(God, do you see why this shit had got me so hard? It’s like solving one of those grid-based logic puzzles where if Mary is wearing a red hat and Adam wasn’t in the house on Thursday, which of the household could’ve been present at the time of the murder? This isn’t even supposed to be a detective game, GDI!)
But before we get too far down this particular rabbit hole, it’s worth remembering we don’t know for sure that the gardener died within days of Donna joining Miranda’s family. Or, to take a slightly darker angle, we don’t know for sure that the gardener who kept that diary was the same gardener who shut up the Iuthier house after 2017. Maybe ‘Josef Simon’ is a completely new gardener, who kept that old diary around to remind himself why he should absolutely never breathe too deeply over Claudia’s grave, or accept any of Mistress Donna’s invitations to come inside for tea…

Claudia Beneviento herself is a figure so mysterious that I’m a little suspicious her grave (let alone those bizarre dates) only exists at all due to some miscommunication between the writers and the environment asset team, or as a relic of a couple of very different stories getting awkwardly redacted into one at the nth hour (notes that came with the artwork say that her house was originally conceived as belonging to a doctor, the doll-theme only added later, which isn’t surprising). Taken at face value, a woman in mourning dress with a creepy doll obsession and a 9-year-old’s grave in her garden screams that Claudia was Donna’s daughter, whose tragic death she never recovered from. It fits with the greater themes of the game too: Miranda and Eva, Ethan and Rose, Donna and Claudia?
Only problem being that the gardener’s diary suggests that Donna's personal tragedy was something else altogether.
If the gardener is to be believed, Donna’s story is that of someone who shunned others from childhood due to ‘the scar over her eye’ (a birth defect?) choosing instead to talk to people only through the ventriloquist’s doll made for her father – then cut off from the world even further by her parents’ tragic deaths. (Notes on the artwork go further, suggesting that her parents committed suicide at the waterfall, but this never made it into the game.) Where does a dead 9-year-old girl come into that? Is she Donna’s sister, her cousin or aunt? It’s damn hard to find space for a daughter in the gardener’s account, but the fresh bouquets on the grave suggest she was at least someone important. It all feels like a story that’s been hastily patched together at the last minute (and very likely, it was).
Donna’s powers present a similar dichotomy: hallucinogenic plants and autonomous living dolls? The only common theme there is ‘spooky shit’. (God, it’s like Heisenberg and the lycans all over again!) I don’t mean any of this as a serious critique of the game or story: Donna’s house stays with people for a reason – horror’s often more effective because it’s incomprehensible – but Donna-the-character is a cypher.
Speaking of Donna's medical report, that confusing line about how she "divided her Cadou among her dolls in order to control them from a distance" is (inasmuch as I am qualified to translate it) a little clearer in the Japanese version. A more literal translation might be more along the lines of "has shared her own cadou with her favourite doll to control it from a distance" ‒ which certainly adds context to why it's Angie's remains you bring back to the Duke. What's in all those other dolls is open to question: more experimental cadou, or is them moving just another illusion? We'll never know for sure.

That's about it for hard info. Still, for what it’s worth, have some rampant speculation!
Suppose Donna and Claudia were sisters, Claudia the treasured ‘normal’ sister, to Donna’s disfigured recluse. Suppose Claudia died, and their grief over the loss of their one 'proper' daughter led Donna’s parents to throw themselves over the waterfall, leaving her all the more alone. Yeah. Just let that settle in for a moment.
Alternatively, suppose both of Donna’s parents (and perhaps even her ‘normal’ sister) lost their lives to Miranda’s quest to integrate all four noble houses into her own twisted family. The success rate for cadou experiments was notoriously low. Suppose she resorted to Donna last because her deformity made her that much less desirable – only for Donna to survive, to be ‘adopted’ by the very woman who murdered her whole family.
Now imagine Donna living under the shadow of inevitably being supplanted (yet again) when her new ‘mother’ manages to revive the true daughter she really wanted all along…

Now there are some horror stories for you.
As a side note, I’ve seen some articles claim Donna had a female family member called Bernadette who died in Miranda’s experiments. This isn’t based on much: the only evidence is a 21-year-old “Bernadette B” mentioned in one of Miranda’s case notes, shortly before the success story of “Alcina D”. Notably, “Alcina D” is recorded as being ‘of noble birth’, while “Bernadette B” is simply noted as ‘no occupation’, which doesn’t really support the idea the B stands for another important family. Being nearly as old as ‘Alcina D’, Bernadette would have lived and died generations before Donna and Claudia. So even if B does stand for Beneviento (and it probably doesn’t), it doesn’t add much to Donna’s story.

And on a final note, did anyone else notice that of all the four lords, Donna is the only one who gets called by her first name? Like, Heisenberg is ‘Heisenberg’ even to his mother, brother and sister. I don’t think anyone but the Duke ever says Dimitrescu’s name aloud (let alone calls her ‘Alcina’). But Heisenberg mentions his other two siblings twice, and both times they’re Donna and Moreau. Not Beneviento and Moreau, or Donna and Salvatore: Donna and Moreau.
Now, maybe he’s just lazy (Beneviento is a bit of a mouthful), but while everyone else in the Duke’s spiel is called by their last name, Donna gets to be Donna Beneviento. Naturally, she’s ‘Mistress Donna’ to her gardener too. Possibly Angie is part of the reason ‒ logically, she's a Beneviento too, and we need some way to distinguish the two of them ‒ but it certainly speaks to how she's thought about, by family and by the writers.
No other first name is spoken aloud at all, AFAIK – you have to find Miranda’s experiment reports at the very end of the game to learn Moreau and Heisenberg’s first names (‘Alcina’ is at least written on her diary as well, much earlier on, as well as in Miranda’s separate case notes on experiment 181).
I doubt there’s much significance behind this detail, but it does kind of back up the idea that Donna may be the baby of the family – the youngest in years and the youngest when she was turned. And somehow still the most mysterious, for all that we arguably have more information about her past than any of the other three.

Please don’t take that as suggesting she’s just an innocent little baby, though. There’s a tendency in fandom to portray her as perfectly talkative and functional with the right audience (never mind that she speaks only a few words in the whole game, and canonically preferred to ‘talk’ through her Angie even to the gardener who’d known her since childhood, and who clearly cared for her deeply). Her backstory is tragic as fuck however you fill in the blanks, but all those fucked up murder dolls didn’t come from nowhere.
It's probably a mistake to treat Angie as a separate entity at all, when she's functionally Donna's own alter ego: very plausibly her way of acting out her own childhood trauma, from which she never recovered or matured. And trauma exorcised into a new vessel isn’t trauma that’s gone away.

the stunticons have to work at mcdonald's
god i have a fic like this somewhere that's like 2000 full words already, i think they should be obliged to work shitty service jobs forever. Because of that im doing this situated in a "war's paused, lets make some money while megatron and optimus fuck the ceasefire up really badly" androidformers setting: they are pod people working part-time minimum wage jobs so that they look less suspicious on paper because now they're not constantly getting into shootouts with the 'Bots
Motormaster cannot hold down a job because he keeps getting into fistfights with customers. He's perfectly fine if you put him in back-of-house though so Dead End (on behalf of Breakdown) just begged their manager to put him somewhere where he won't talk to anyone so he's managed to keep this job for at least two weeks since no one has insulted him to his face so he hasn't crushed their trachea while working at the register yet.
Before Breakdown worked here (he also cannot hold a job because he is too, um, the way he is) he was in an attempted robbery at the convenience store where he used to shelve items. During the approximately four minutes where the person holding the store up had Breakdown sit in one place where they could keep an eye on him Breakdown decided they were actually here specifically for him, spiraled about it badly, and then attempted to "handle it" by negotiating. The way he went about this scared the thief so badly that they immediately left but also scared all his coworkers so badly he was also immediately fired. I can't decide what he said because i kept thinking of things that would be funnier than the last
Drag Strip is actually a great worker in spite of his perpetual attitude and personality difficulties because "worker of the month" is an extremely attainable goal when your coworkers are The Other Stunticons. They made him assistant manager and he never shuts the fuck up about it.
On at minimum five occasions Wildrider and Motormaster have gotten into "hot oil" fights where they throw hot oil at each other and then walk it off. The human employees at the McDonalds have agreed after a lot of very stressed groupchats behind the stunticons' backs to not question it and just stay out of the splash radius.
The lead night manager of the McDonalds is actually a lovely older woman named Donna who has two kids in their mid-thirties, chain-smokes, and has seen enough weird shit to not question the stunticons' bullshit and just generally demands they keep it away from everyone else, which they do for the most part because she's also willing to accomodate a lot of their varied neuroses. The lead day manager was a guy named Evan who used to hit on the female high schoolers working there, but by coincidence about two days after he tried that shit with Breakdown he vanished off the face of the earth and no one can find him since. Breakdown insists he had nothing to do with it and most of the other employees figure if anyone did something, it was Motormaster, but actually Dead End got territorial and Breakdown wasn't fond either so DE took a leaf out of Sweeney Todd's book and turned him into several hamburgers while they were supposed to be at home training. He hasn't told anyone else but if Drag Strip doesn't stop gunning for that spot he's going to set Drag Strip up to take the fall because the bragging will (quoth the stunticon) "become intolerably annoying".

So, this is a prompt that was sent in asking for the RE8 women reacting to little Y/N getting close with someone other than them. I wrote something for that here with Cass! Here is the version for Alcina. I hope you like it! I have gotten a ton of requests for more Alcina lactation fics. Let’s get into it!
Alcina is very protective of you. And she is… Quite clingy. In fact, she can barely stand to leave you at all.
You have a calming effect on Alcina. Soothing her with your presence and innocence. She finds herself running her fingers through your hair absentmindedly as she pores over paperwork, her mind at ease with you on her lap.
In addition to her clinginess, Alcina is also incredibly possessive of you. She will snap at any servant who looks at you for too long.
However, when it comes to the girls, she loves watching you interact with them. They are her babies and so are you. She adores watching them take care of you, fussing over you and cuddling you. Alcina is happy to share you with them, knowing that they love you just as much as she does.
It’s a strange dichotomy, the way Alcina can be so protective and territorial one moment, and then so open and loving the next. But you feel safe in Alcina’s arms, knowing that she will always be there to protect you, no matter what.
Alcina also lets you visit with Donna and Miranda.
You love to sit on their laps and let them snuggle you.
Donna is so warm and Miranda always knows the best ways to give you little head massages. It doesn’t take much for you to doze off when they hold you.
Alcina’s heart warms at how affectionate you are, but… Donna and Miranda are both so motherly. Sometimes, Alcina feels an instinctual need to assert her dominance as your mama. She’ll promptly pick you up and keep you close to her when she feels like they are getting too cozy with you.
Her grip on you tightens if Donna or Miranda try to approach you while she’s like this, and her eyes become sharp and almost feral as she watches them. She makes it clear that you are hers. You are her little precious baby that she loves more than anything in the world.
Alcina’s possessiveness in these situations makes you feel both secure and uneasy at the same time. On one hand, you know that she will do anything to protect you, but on the other hand, her behavior towards Donna and Mother Miranda can be alarming. Sometimes you squirm or fuss anxiously.
Alcina immediately bounces you on her lap to calm you down. “Shh, it’s going to be okay, draga. Mama is sorry she scared you, my love.” She says and kisses your head. Her voice becomes like velvet as she talks to you. It helps you relax.
If your frustration continues, though, she knows it’s time for you to eat and take your nap. It brings Alcina great pleasure for you to display just how much you need her in front of Donna and Miranda. Only she can nourish you and comfort you like this. “Well, it was wonderful seeing you two. But, if you’ll both excuse us, Y/N is hungry.” Alcina says graciously, but with a hint of a smirk. She can’t help but feel proud.
“Let’s get you fed, my darling.” Alcina says as she brings you to her bedroom.
She sits you on her bed and begins taking off her jewelry and hat.
You watch fascinated by the shiny accessories.
Alcina giggles at your wide eyes. You’re so cute. She takes off her shoes and undoes her bra and dress before neatly storing them.
“Alright, draga. Here we go.” Alcina says as she picks you up and lies down with you on top of her. She places her nipple in your mouth and you instinctively begin suckling. You lie your head on her chest and she runs her fingers up and down your back. “Mama’s sorry she got so scary, baby.” Alcina apologizes. “I just love you so much, draga. I want everyone to know that you are mine.” She admits and buries her face in your hair.
You begin giggling.
Alcina looks at you with a smile.
“What is so funny, draga?” She asks, your joy contagious to her.
You point at her. “Share!” You say.
Alcina gasps playfully. “Do you think mama needs to share you more?” She grins and tweaks your nose.
You start to laugh. “Yeah!” You tell her.
Alcina laughs too and rubs your head gently. She softly guides your head back to her breast so that she can continue nursing you. “I think I do a good job sharing you with the girls, don’t I?” Alcina asks with a smirk.
You nod your head rapidly at this. When it comes to the girls, she is fine.
Alcina beams… But, then sighs. “I know I can be possessive around Donna and Mother Miranda, but… You look so happy when you’re with them. I know deep down it’s not true, but sometimes it makes mama worried that you love them more.” She reveals and runs her fingers across your cheek.
Your eyes go wide. You place your hand over her heart, hoping she will understand that you are trying to tell her you love her more than anything.
Alcina gently cups your hand and holds it there. “I’m never happier than when I’m with you and the girls, my love. You are all so precious to me.” She tells you. “It’s not fair of me to be so jealous of Donna and Mother Miranda. Mama knows how much you love her.” She tells you.
You feel better knowing that Alcina is aware of your devotion to her. You begin to yawn and close your eyes.
Alcina giggles. “Mama makes all of this milk for you and you always fall asleep before you’re finished.” She jokingly teases.
You chuckle sleepily.
Alcina hums, amused. “It’s okay, my darling. Mama will feed you more after your nap.” She tells you. “Sleep well, my darling.” She says and begins to purr quietly.
You nod and drift off, comforted by your mama’s warmth and the rumble in her chest under you.

Here are my thoughts on Wild Blue Yonder!
HOO BOY!
Doctor Who spoilers under the cut.
First off, loving the whole random ass opening with Sir Issac Newton, and the fact that they continue to use the word mavity throughout the episode. It's stupid, but it's exactly what you expect from Doctor Who
Ooooh, the Doctor being so bummed about the new console room, the way they sounded reminded me of Crowley's '90 years and not a scratch'. No wonder David knew what to do, he was told to think of the TARDIS blowing up for that scene. And... well... looks like he had to repeat that, haha.
QUEER FOURTEEN! QUEER FOURTEEN! I mean, honestly, I already suspected as much, but yes! Gay? Bi? Pan? Who the fuck cares, they're queer! (And I still stand by David's Doctors being ace, so... :))
The tenderness of Fourteen caring for Donna throughout this, especially at the end when they hold her while the spaceship explodes... *clutches chest*
The visuals for the ship are pretty damn cool, if a little cheesy, but this greatly reminds me of the station from RTD's second episode during Nine's era, which also included the companion nearly dying by a powerful heat.
If I had a nickel for every time David played a nonbinary non-human in tight clothing talking to someone with the label of 'Jim(bo)' in 2023, I'd have two nickels.
The fucking creatures in this episode! UUUUUHHHHHGGGGGG!!! The body horror made it impossible for me to watch because holy shit it started getting into that territory where I feel my skin crawl just looking at it!
That's not to say I hated it, I fucking love horror in Doctor Who, but UUHHGG!!! EW! FUCKING NO!
Also really creepy that not-Donna knew about The Flux and the Timeless Child bullshit. I hate this lore, but it was interesting how it was brought back in a horror setting.
David and Catherine playing villains against them playing heroes is a delight
Also, chalk this up as another time David plays a version of the Doctor, this time as an enemy. Though in my heart of hearts, the Spriggan is still his best villain Doctor, TLV!Ten and not-Fourteen be damned!
Scary as fuck, very intense, this was a great special that I really did not see any of it coming. I'm so glad it was kept secret.
WILF! I started sobbing when he showed up, I love Wilf so much, and Fourteen's pure delight at seeing him! <3 I miss Bernard, I'm so glad he was able to be part of this before he passed.
It's not Doctor Who without a cliffhanger!
I wonder what the salt thing will do in the series, will Fifteen have a call back to it? I'm very curious...
Overall, a terrifying special, I fucking loved it, but eeeeeewwwwww... the body horror and stuff. I hope David and Catherine had fun!
Also, I like Jimbo.
Anyone else get Midnight and the two-parter Ganger episodes vibes from this special? Cause I love that.

'If last week was frantic, fast, and offering a wide open welcome mat to Doctor Who fans new and old, Wild Blue Yonder felt like a demonstration of what the show can do and has done. First half hour? Good. Second half hour? Great.
We left the Doctor and Donna – David Tennant and Catherine Tate – in a TARDIS out of control at the end of last week’s The Star Beast. Wild Blue Yonder, the middle part of the 60th anniversary trilogy of Doctor Who, initially took things from there just via, er, 1666. Bonus points if you were instantly trying to work out if we were in the territory of the bubonic plague or the Great Fire Of London when that date popped up on screen.
Turns out, neither. In a tip of the hat to how much more money the show has its disposal, it was all a set up for a gag about gravity. Respect. Russell T Davies has just told the year’s most expensive dad joke.
But, post credits, this was at its best top tier Russell T Davies Doctor Who.
It was bold early.
Wild Blue Yonder robbed the Doctor very early in the story of two of his most potent pieces of equipment: his trusty sonic screwdriver, and his TARDIS. Both gone, minutes after the majestic blue box had been belching out massive flames. I was expecting, at that stage, more fast and furious stuff. Turns out I got quite the opposite.
he first effect of taking the TARDIS away was to give some time to settle and actually spend some time with the Doctor and Donna. The pair were running around so much in the fast-paced The Star Beast last week, that stopping for a proper chat was out of the question.
Here, that was happily remedied.
In fact, the episode itself was slower, calmer and really crept up the longer it went. Like a slow moving robot going along a corridor. Doctor Who the show may have new clothes and new resources, but I like Davies established that for all that, it’s still a show where the brakes matter. When you go slower, the impact can double.
The basics: we got an apparently abandoned spaceship that itself presents mysteries, and a posh remote camera to help explore it. But for the Doctor, something unfamiliar: a lack of stars, the edge of creation, a hundred trlllion years from Earth. Where even the Time Lord hadn’t been before, and seemingly didn’t know what to expect.
A bit of licking (yep) and joshing later, and out came a dash of Everything Everywhere All At Once. Extended arms that I thought were going to be played for comedy (and there were chuckles in the episode). But Davies wrongfooted me again, continually shifting the foundations of tone: turns out that if you’re looking to come up with a really creepy foe for David Tennant to face off against, you can do a lot worse than recruit David Tennant and Catherine Tate. It took a while, but I started to get Midnight vibes from it all, and that’s a very high Who bar.
It did take me a little time to settle though, and I’m about to pen a couple of churlish paragraphs for which the internet should hate me. Deep breath, here goes.
It does seem odd to note some of the effects work on Doctor Who, given what many of us grew up with. But the future craft on which the Doctor and Donna landed looked like it was made with a computer, and it didn’t look like they were there. It’s an odd side effect of the budget of the show, and being able to consistently afford nice things: the nice things are in turn held to a higher standard.
I feel weird typing that paragraph about Doctor Who. But for a moment, and this doesn’t usually happen, it took me out of things. I was back in for the most bizarre chase sequence I’ve seen all year, mind. And I happily watched the show without murmur of complaint throughout the 1980s. I’m clearly a spoilt whingebag.
Nice tip of the hat to Thunderbirds at one point. Let me get out of this hole by recognising that.
I bring all that up because in the first half of Wild Blue Yonder I was noticing stuff like that. In the second, I was absolutely gripped. When the Doctor and Donna properly went head-to-head with the Doctor and Donna? Well, with huge applause to the two actors at the heart of it, I became more and more unnerved. In a good way.
It’s like the shoot-out in something like the classic movie For A Few Dollars More, with two people working the other out, taking turns to take shots. Metaphorical ones here, as each explains whether the other was real or not.
Loved that.
As the episode went on, just where the floor of reality sat became less and less clear. Related: the more ambiguous Wild Blue Yonder became, it all became richer. Even when David Tennant’s head basically poked out of his own arse (it didn’t, but it looked like that), I was engrossed by what was going on..
Coming up with a Doctor Who monster to really get under our skin is a challenge in itself, especially now. Having Tennant and Tate just staring, with a half grin? Well, they’ve outgunned The Meep to my eyes.
Let’s take a moment too to consider the whole Gallifrey got “complicated” aside.
It’s a brief line from the Doctor that he utters, and he ain’t bloody kidding. Like it or not, the Chris Chibnall era of Doctor Who made a lot of Gallifrey (far more than Davies was ever inclined to do in his first run at Who), and anyone picking up those threads was always going to facing, well, let’s go with ‘a challenge’.
However, thrown into the mix here – although whether to believe it is a question in itself – is that the Doctor perhaps isn’t as sure of his roots as we’ve been led to believe. Might he not be from Gallifrey? Is it really possible that Davies has found something else in the character’s origin, six decades on? This is also picking up the mantle of The Timeless Child, introduced during the 13th Doctor’s era.
Will Davies choose to run with it? As the Time Lord himself once said, “time will tell. It always does”.
As much as Russell T Davies is a whizz at delivering a one-hour blockbuster episode of the show, he’s also proven he’s capable of offbeat, weird and unpredictable stories. I’m going to namecheck Midnight again, because – unexpectedly – it feels to me like an ideal companion piece for Wild Blue Yonder. Midnight-ish, on a bigger canvas, with the slowest ticking bomb Who has probably ever seen.
I thought it was terrific.
Credit too to director Tom Kingsley, and enormous applause for just how strong the work of Catherine Tate and David Tennant was here.
But the final word goes to one man: Bernard Cribbins. The last scenes that he shot for Doctor Who, just before we lost him in 2022, ended the episode. I thought that was a lovely, lovely touch. Sure, there was a massive plane above his head, but the ultimate focus was, rightly, on a much-missed actor. How fitting that the episode was dedicated to him. I can’t have been the only one with dust in my eye.
Next week, this trio of specials comes to an end with The Giggle. The trailer promises much. I’d suggest Wild Blue Yonder has set an early high bar for this latest era of Doctor Who.
Now, if you don’t mind, I’m off to watch it again. And to tip my hat to Bernard one more time…'
