I was worried about my new job starting at 4:30am bc I've typically had a very rough time with like 7-10am shifts and much prefer 2-6pm ones, but so far it's actually been incredible? My body seems to register it less as "waking up early" and more "getting up in the middle of the night," which for some reason is significantly easier.

Plus finishing at noon at the latest (but usually by ~9-11) and having the entire rest of the day for activities is fabulous. Like technically I had that time before work when I was working afternoons/evenings too tbf, but it required me to get up and out before work and would always have the background stress of time limit, whereas now I'm already up and out without generally having to worry about anything else.

The downside ofc is that I need to go to bed wayyy earlier, like 6pm instead of 2am, which was a brutal transition and will continue to be difficult to balance with still working gallery events, but that's usually only 2 nights a week max. It's also lowkey for the best, though, bc few other tactics have succeeded in curbing a spiralling bar habit from destroying my wallet lol, and this just might... But yeah anyway I'm v pleasantly surprised how well this has been going so far! Hopefully it will continue to

The attempt to communicate with Soma was not successful.

In fact we may have made things worse in attempting it. Zee has descended into what I can only describe as a nightmare state. We saw.... what I can only describe as a manifestation of her trauma. Losing her mother, watching her turn into something monstrous.

And it attacked us. We escaped, just barely. I'm.. actually quite shocked that Snakewood survived given the severity of his wound. I can't even sit up without shaking right now. I think... perhaps I've overdone it.

But Zee is still out there. She's the one trapped in this nightmare.

And I don't know how to help her any more.

oh, uh, are we supposed to be sending our items to the lab? i have a few that i dont rly like so i guess i can contribute!! the b2f was supposed to be like some sort of really cool special pokeball but ive never been able to catch a single pokemon with it... i think its rigged or somthin. the 2f just kinda makes me feel lightheaded for a lil bit and then everythins just back t normal. the fm and the m both just kinda hurt my eyes when i try t use them i dunno what theyre supposed to be used for. and the ws m was supposed to be some kinda super cool "do anything machine" but the only thing ive ever been able to get it to do is to tell me that im not supposed to use it so like. iunno maybe it has drm on it or somthin. and the person who gave me the il said that it would make battles more exciting, but imo it just kind of makes everything more tense and it doesnt work well with my anxiety i hope at least one of these can help u out a bit!!! arc knows im not usin em heheh

The lab certainly does take in items with unique properties for testing. That's usually what the physics department is in charge of, but I do want to log these here.

And I'll admit, from all these descriptions you've given me, I'm really curious. I may start a thread here describing the properties of each of these if they happen to be interesting.

Here's what I'm looking at here in terms of items.

2F- Another elevator button, this one labeled 2F. It appears to have some kind of function when pressed.

B2F- An odd looking pokeball. Greyscale in color with a static like pattern across the top of it. It feels a little lighter than a normal pokeball. There are over a hundred of them in the box.

█ | f █m |█- A tool made of metal in a shape that appears to resemble a flower. The petals look like they can be activated when pressed.

ws �m- Exactly what you would expect from a ws �m. It resembles a shell... though this one I'll admit has a different coloration. It is greyscale rather than the green and light blue I'm used to seeing in these. Seeing this in the box did make me worry for a moment, but after checking in about it, it looks like this should be alright to handle as long as it's done cautiously.

�|m �- it looks like a lamp of some sort in the shape of a slightly jagged orb. No idea what the use of this is or how to activate it.

�il�- A large, bronze tool with a speaker on the end. It looks like it's supposed to play some kind of sound, but it doesn't seem to have any method of actually producing sound itself, or hooking up to anything that does.

These are all really interesting. I'll take them down to the physics department and give notes on each as they test them.

thinking about how Dot statistically had their worst season in S7, got shelled at the end of it, and upon being freed, immediately proceeded to have their best season yet in S10, which would eventually end up being second only to S16, their final season before retirement... 

just. thinking about it. they had to pitch against jaylen. the people they hadn’t let themselves get close to were being hit, were burning, and everything was falling apart around them... they couldn’t focus properly on pitching anymore and their performance reflected it. they only won one more game than they lost, had their worst ERA ever, and they didn’t even have time to work through anything before they were just trapped, for years, until they were finally saved because of the Talkers’ love and faith in the Monitor.

and when they got out, it wasn’t easy, and there was a lot to process, but they had a reason to keep fighting. their team loved them no matter what, and they were learning to believe it, and they went on to only lose one game in their first season back, with their best-ever ERA.

and when they went out, it was on a high note. won three championships in a row, two with the team that had saved them. leading up to the third, they had an undefeated season with the Steaks, finally achieved that elusive perfect game, and pitched a shutout in the playoffs.

and when it was all over, the gods tried to take them away.

and they said no.

and they fought their way home, because they’d learned how to fight for what really mattered. they took their hands that had been perfectly molded for pitching and used them instead to to tear apart the universe, to find their way back to the people who’d taught them they were more than a pitcher. because they could pitch a perfect season, and they could pitch a bad season, and they could never pitch again, and no matter what, those people wouldn’t love them any less. the gods tried to make them into one thing, and their teammates helped them become something more. helped them find their way home, where they belonged, and they knew it.
