This is BY FAR the most finicky job I’ve ever done on a guitar: intonating this 12-string bridge and shimming the saddles for the extra strings because the playing surface wasn’t even a bit even to begin with. #guitarsetup #doubleneck #doubleneckguitar #12string #12stringguitar #intonation #bridgesetup (bij A Different Tune - muziekschool) https://www.instagram.com/p/CkIbiAEN6Sy/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

What exactly was the plan here anyway? The only place the Doubleneck Guit-car could even go with that ramp trajectory was smashing straight into the the dragon's head, which is exactly what happened. There's not even a landing ramp they were supposed to hit, just take-off ramp and gigantic fire-breathing dragon head.
I know the whole event was Murderface's idea, but where the flying fuck was Charles to double-check he didn't kill his bandmates??

Gears & Analysis - Manson Red Glitter & Manson 7 String E Guitar [STYLE Series #004 - Muse (August 2010)]
Tumblr media
Other Manson Guitars Other Manson guitars Matthew has owned.
The photo shows a Manson guitar with a red sparkle finish, known as ‘Red Glitter’, which has been used on stage since 2007. The sparkle finish was specified by Matthew, and the red background with diagonally-sprayed glittering lamé gives it a flashy look that Matthew seems to like. The basic guitar design is in the vein of recent Matthew models with X-Y pads, such as the ‘M1D1’, and the body is contoured. However, ash, not mahogany, seems to have been used for the body material of this model, and the fingerboard also looks like ebony, not rosewood, as seen in the photo. Perhaps this is why the sound seems to be slightly different from other guitars with similar specs. The guitar has a single Bare Knuckle ‘Nailbomb’ pickup on the rear and a sustainer unit driver on the front. Incidentally, this guitar has been treated quite hard, often being thrown into the drum set at the end of shows or impaled on a speaker cabinet. However, it has survived each time, so it must be very sturdy. The Manson Guitars website also accepts orders for Matthew's model ‘MB-1’, which can be ordered with similar finishes and specifications to this model.
In addition to this guitar, Matthew also regularly orders guitars from Manson, with new guitars appearing on each tour. Among the guitars not shown here are the ‘Seattle Manson [aka Manson Black Midi]’, a black finish guitar with specifications similar to the ‘Red Glitter’ (with a humbucker type ‘FSK-101’ sustainer), and the ‘Kaoss Manson’. Examples include the ‘Chrome Kaoss Manson [aka Manson Mirror Kaoss]’, a mirror finish of the 'Kaoss Manson', and the ‘Casino Caster Manson [aka Manson Doubleneck]’, which has a fretless and fretted double-neck. In 2009, Manson Guitars also introduced a keyboard guitar. This is a guitar-shaped keyboard [aka Manson Keytarcaster] with two-octave keys on the body and bass notes assigned to the neck, and is brought out on stage when the band performs ‘Undisclosed Desires’.
7-String aka Manson 7 String E Guitar The Manson 7-string guitar that inspired Matthew's aesthetic sensibility.
This is the only Manson guitar that Matthew uses that was made for someone other than Matthew. It was originally made by Hugh Manson by request from a jazz guitarist, but the guitarist who ordered it didn't like it, so it was left in the shop. Matthew, who was looking for a seven-string guitar to record ‘Citizen Erased’ for his second album, found it, liked it and bought it. Since then, no songs have been written that require a seven-string guitar, so the guitar has rarely appeared on stage, but it is always brought out when playing ‘Citizen Erased’.
The body, which is quite small for a guitar, is hollow, and a thick seven-string neck is attached to it. Two Kent Armstrong humbuckers for the 7-string guitar are installed, but originally only the front pickups were used. The fact that the pickguard only covers the front pickup area is probably a remnant of this. There is also a piezo pickup built into the bridge section, which can be used to produce an acoustic-style sound. The neck is made of maple, although painted black, and the head is laminated with the same beautifully grained top wood as the body, with a through neck joint that goes through the body section and a smooth cut at the heel. The head is laminated with the same beautiful wood top as the body, with a through neck joint through the body section and a smooth-cut heel.
Translator's Notes: And this is it for the article covering Matt's guitars. Next article to cover are his amps and effects.

This is a big one- my *second* doubleneck, a bolt-on Strat-type, 6/12, of course in red. In the process of finishing, I discovered that the necks that came with the body were warped, so I had to scrap them and start with 2 brand new necks (again, thank you Fender Standard measurements, allowing necks to be replaced!). The good news was I could get them with the headstocks pre-shaped, so that was tasks completed. But it took the body well over a year to fully and completely cure, which I have never seen before or since. Not sure if it was weather, the wood, or some other mitigating factor, but it took close to 2 years to fully complete. The pickguard was custom made by WD Pickguards (highly recommend!) with a 5-way switch for each neck, and volume and push-pull pots for tone. A 3-way mini switch allows the player to select either neck or both, and rail single-stack humbuckers make for a great tone. I found some quite beautiful apple pins for the front of the headstocks, and two pewter finish stylized apples for the back, a small size for the 12, and a large for the 6. Different letter "D"s (pins, with a laser-cut wooden "D" as well) rounded out this maker's attempt at marks. I thought that keeping the choice for black hardware on the back of the body was a good decision, with black neck plates, ferrule bar, and tremolo cavity cover mirroring the red/black of the front. Boy, this was a tough and fun build. Enjoy!
