HI BABY do you want to maybe share a bit about rita skeeter post first war…. maybe talk about her stay at the janus thickey ward … i want to hear your every thought… oh quillkiller i am SO back..

hi darling there is NOTHING i would love more!!! okay first of all, links to the mood boards we've made around the topic. obsessed w us always and forever but anyway . to business .

i think rita starts to spiral almost immediately after the quillkiller break up bc it's a loss of control (<- core rita characteristic, desperate need for control at all times, which. to me is a part of the reason for her writing the article, bc she can feel everything she's built w bella starting to slip out of her grasp and she's trying to reassert her control over things. obvs this doesn't work. bc, coupled w bella getting the dark mark, it only serves to fully knock them both of their axes)

and her words (her articles) are the main way she knows to try and regain this control, having power over the narrative, the way events are portrayed, the way people are viewed. so she throws herself into her work post break up. it's also the only thing she really has, if she no longer has bella.

but the thing is, she's obsessive, and her and bella have always orbited around each other, and rita still loves her (but she's too proud to ever admit it, even to herself <- pride is another big rita trait, bella too) so she just can't let bella go. she makes it her self-assigned mission to report on every single thing that bella does in the war, keeping track of her, trying to maintain some power over her and over the memory of bella that still wields an unacceptable amount of power over her - and it's painful bc bella's also spinning out of control and doing horrible, horrible things but rita has to know and she has to do it and she can't stop

and this kinda unhealthy behaviour comes to a head as the war draws to a close. before, throughout the war, there was only the occasional, more general thing to report on, being as one of the central features of the first war was it's secrecy. the death eaters moved in the shadows, and also at that point it wouldn't have been commonly known that bella was a death eater (i don't think the dp would ever allow rita to print that, the blacks had too much power at that point... this maybe calls into question exactly what The Article discloses... but shhhhh don't worry about it baby) so rita's articles would've been like 'Death Eaters Did This' and 'Death Eaters Did That' and rita would recognise that it was bella who had done certain things but she couldn't report on that

that changes w the end of the war. it all becomes very very Very public and also much more centred (for rita at least) specifically on bella. she can report that it's Bella who tortured the longbottoms. can report that it's Bella who's going on trial as a death eater etc etc. bc it's public now, she's sort of face to face w bella and what bella has done and what she's become in a way that she hasn't been since they stopped seeing each other. and. like i've said before. she spins out of control. and also refuses to face that.

she's obsessively reporting on bella, sneaking into the court room in animagus form, going round and interviewing anyone that might have even a sliver of an opinion. barely sleeping, barely eating, barely doing anything except writing article after article after article and chain-smoking until she crashes at her desk, head on her papers, waking up a couple hours later, downing five coffees and doing it over again. and she's not just reporting on the trial, she's digging into everything to do with the end of the war, maybe hoping to find some trace of bella there, the bella that she used to know, but mostly just desperately trying to fill her mind with something, anything, to keep herself busy, trying not to think about how that bella doesn't really exist anymore, or how the bella that's left is on her way to azkaban for life and that she might never see her again....

everyone is worried about her, she's snapping at anyone who tries to ask if she's okay or tries to stand in the way of her job, she's pushing herself so so hard and no one understands how she's still alive and functioning and still turning in articles (even if it gets to a point where the dp are like, we can't print these articles, they're getting somewhat nonsensical and people are trying to move on from the war, not drown themselves in it like rita seems to be doing) but she convinces herself she's fine and she's in control and everything's fine and maybe it would be if that lifestyle was at all sustainable or if the end of the war dragged on further but obvs that's not the case

we know that the whole end of the first war was fairly rushed through, trying to quickly bring everything back to normal and forget about the whole Ordeal, so there reaches a point, once the trials are concluded wherein the workload starts to thin out again, there's less pressure, everything is Back To Normal and that's when rita has a complete mental breakdown. bc she needed to work and to have that distraction and also that semblance of control but now there's not enough to do anymore and her thoughts and emotions can start to creep in around the cogs of the machinery that she'd tried to turn herself into and this is when we get to the janus thickey ward <3

rita just completely crashes to the point of hospitalisation bc she can't cope without her work and without bella and without anything to hold her together or give her a purpose. she has to like pause for one moment and everything just catches up to her and she can't cope with it. she's been repressing and repressing and locking everything away for YEARS until at the end she's just a shell of herself and then that starts to crumble and everything starts coming out and she JUST! CAN'T! COPE!

i think she's there for quite a while, like a year or so maybe, and she's fighting it for so long, still insisting that there's nothing wrong w her, literally attacking the healers and refusing to face things and i think maybe the thing that makes her finally realise that there's something wrong w her and that she's there for a reason is seeing alice and frank. like they've been in the same ward for months but rita has just been flat-out refusing to look over in their direction

and then maybe one day alice or frank is just like wandering around and approaches rita and she turns to look at them and it just hits her that this is Real. like when she was writing articles about what bella did to them she wasn't really thinking of them as people if that makes sense, they were just a part of the story. but looking at them and seeing them makes her realise more fully what bella had done and the fact that there was a whole fucking war and so many awful, terrible things happened and they Actually Happened. they weren't just thing for her to write about. and it's like a Pivotal moment for her

when she comes out of the ward she's like a completely different person, like she's the same, but a part of her is gone. she's trying her hardest to maintain a healthy balance, and be actually in control of herself rather than just clinging to the illusion of control that her articles gave her. i think she goes and visits alice and frank sometimes, to see them bc they're important to her now, but also to remind herself. and she spends the interim period between the wars building herself into something stable and better and actively forcing herself not to think about bella.... obvs this all crashes down around her when bella breaks out of azkaban and even before then bella is still on her mind alllll the time. like in the act of forcing herself not to think about her she's intrinsically thinking about her. i was reading our old discord chats about this while writing and you said "like a second shadow rita would refuse to look at" <- ur insane, jen, what the fuck!!!!!!!!

anyway. there's always more to say but i'm gonna leave it here!!! mwah mwah mwah!!!!

"The Help" (Post) Movie

Word count: 495

“The Help”, written by Tate Taylor and Kathryn Stockett, is based on the civil war era when African American women were housemaids and took care of white families during the 1960s. This film is based on a college graduate and writer interviewing “The Help” about all they have endured from being housemaids to white families of the South, and all the good, bad, and ugly that has come with their titles. Skeeter, the journalist, and main character, writes about these women because she was raised by one of these housemaids and she viewed them as a motherly figure. From the viewpoints of Skeeter, the journalist, and Aibileen Clark, in “The Help”, the picture is painted of what it was really like to grow up being African American in the South and everything it entailed. The movie depicts racial challenges like segregation when it comes to lavatories, wash stations, sleeping quarters, and even how these women got treated daily. Another difficulty the African American women in this film faces is segregation when it comes to accessibility to proper healthcare. When she was younger, her son was run over by a truck during his workday and was dropped off at a hospital specifically for African American people; he did not receive proper care there and died shortly thereafter. This shows that even during this time, when segregation was thought to be improving, southern states were still facing racial segregation of colored people. During the movie, the main family that Aibileen works for, mentions over tea that they should create a bathroom aside from the bathroom in their home, that “The Help” had to use. Hilly, the woman who came up with this separate bathroom, drafted the idea that every white home had to have a separate washroom for “The Help”.  Aibileen Clark hears a sermon in church based on courage and is driven to speak up and do the right thing which is when she decides to allow Skeeter to interview her. Although this was a fictional movie, it was based on real people during this time and all the struggles they face growing up African American in the South. This film is based on race, socioeconomic class, ethnicity, and religion.

“The Help” applies to my life and what I have learned throughout this course because I understand that every culture should be valued because of their differences. There should not be a world that sees the color of one's skin or how much money one makes, either as inferior or superior traits of a human being. God created everyone equal in his image and this includes every culture, race, ethnicity, or social class there might be. From this film, I have dived more in-depth into the discrimination that people of different ethnicities faced and have opened my eyes to the injustices our country has faced. I can wholeheartedly say that our country has come a long way, and we continue to evolve our cross-cultural understanding of others.

Everyone who knows her knows its a joke, a hilarious joke, seeing as they are super platonic, which is kinda the point of banshee bonds. Sure, he’s one of the two people that she can stand to touch her without flinching back, but they are not attracted to each other in the slightest.

You bet your ass Rita Skeeter probably writes a scathing article on her and Leon, bringing up their supposed marriage.

And Hope retaliates by giving an interview to Selene Jacobs like before and threatens to sue DP for libel.

Redid my aesthetic board for my character, Skeeter Traps. She can be found in my book, “Chronicles of Magic: The Sixth Child”. A ten year old girl who was raised by refugees and rebels, she’s the ‘fight first, talk later’ type. She’s also a bit too clever for her own good.  

I love making boards for my characters. It really helps me to get a clearer picture of them in my mind, not that Skeeter could get much clearer. She’s an ESTP and very much an Aries.

hello fantastic beasts fandom. the foreword for the new edition of FBAWTFT leaked but in GERMAN?! this is it, run through Google Translate by the reddit user who spotted it [x] there is a lot of pretty weird retconning to explain why a lot of the beasts weren’t in the 2001 book but Newt Scamander is Confirmed Alive 2017. the translation is also pretty lol but you get the idea.

In 2001, Muggle readers was made available a reissue of the first edition of my book Fantastic Beats and Where to Find Them. The magical ministry voted this unprecedented publication to collect money for Comic Relief, a highly respected charity organization of the Muggle. The permission to reissue the book was given to the Muggle readers to be sure that it was a fictitious work. Professor Albus Dumbledore found himself ready to try to find a foreword in this sense, and we were both glad that the book had so much money for people who were among the most useful in the world.

After the release of certain secret documents stored in the magical imminence, the magical world has learned a little more about the origin of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

I am not yet in a position to describe the whole story of my undertakings during the two decades in which Gellert Grindelwald terrorized the magical world. As further documents are to be released in the coming years, I will be able to speak more frankly about my role in this dark section of our history. For the time being, I would like to limit some of the most blatant untruths in recent press reports.

In her recently published biography: Man or Monster? The TRUTH about Newt Scamander Rita Skeeter claims that I was never a magician, but a spy of Dumbledore, who used magizoology as a cover coat, to infiltrate the Magical Congress of the United States of America (MACUSA) in 1926.

This is how everyone who has lived in the 1920s will know a nonsensical claim. No undercover magician would have spent his time as a magician. An interest in magical animals at that time was regarded as dangerous and suspicious, and bringing a suitcase full of such creatures into a ghetto was a serious mistake.

I went near America to release a black-and-white donver-bird, which was quite risky in itself, considering that the MACUSA, at that time, forbade the death of all magical beasts of prey. I can proudly say that, one year after my visit, President Seraphina Picquery sheltered the donkeys, with a decree which she finally extended to elm magical creatures. (On President Picquery's request, I deleted the most important American magical beasts from the first edition of Fantastic Beasts, because it was their desire to prevent a magical animal tourism. Since the American wizarding community was at that time more severely persecuted than the European and because of the fact that I had contributed to a serious violation of the International Security Act in New York, I agreed. In this new edition, I put them back to their rightful place.)

It would take months to contradict each and every hair-raising statement in Miss Skeeter’s book. I should just like to point out that I was by no means "the treacherous fellow" who left Seraphina Picquery "with a broken heart," but the President made it clear that if I did not leave New York voluntarily and without delay, she would take drastic measures to push me out.

It is true that I was the first person to capture Gellert Grindelward, and it is also true that Albus Dumbledore was something more to me than just a school teacher. I cannot say anything without fear of violating the Official Magical Secret Service, and, more importantly, the secrets that Dumbledore secretly entrusted to me.

Fantastic Beats and Where to Find Them is a heart project, and this not only in one respect. When I look back on this early book, memories are brought to life which, though invisible to the readers, are engraved in every leaf. I sincerely hope that a new generation of witches and wizards on these sites will find new reasons to love and protect the amazing beasts that share magic with us.
