I totally agree about a rabbit hole. This crossover is becoming my ghost obsession,hah. And I’ve never been a crossover person before. But it's absolutely impossible to stop if you open AO3/tumblr for one of this fandoms or DPXDC works. I may start with fanfic about 'Reality Trip/Mind Trip' or classic dissecc and realise after hours that I'm on 'Canon Divergence - Jason Todd's Attack on Titans Tower' tag or somewhere in Eldritch Danny Fenton vs Serial adopter Brucie Wayne ideas.

Doesn’t help with my drafts that do meiosis or smth after that. There are too many of them, hahah, help.

Was I overshooting it for expecting the entire ep 9 to be just ep 4’s best animation all the way? I dunno maybe DP spent way too much time setting things up. I hope the anime Rip fight would be longer than this.

I definitely think that this was the best episode of the Spoil arc, if nothing else. I'm not sure off the top of my head how it compares to the Gina fight, but I can say that I'm not disappointed with Union vs. Victor as a whole

Nancy Drew Season 4 Trailer Part 4

I’m back with another obsessive breakdown of the 30 seconds of mayhem that is the S4 trailer. Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 here. My method of madness - connect the dots with all of the behind the scenes content, social posts, podcasts, and articles to figure out a possible episode and any context we can glean about what the heck is going on. Remember it’s all still speculation so please don’t come back and tell me how wrong I was later (but feel free to tell me when I was right 😀).

Much to discuss. From Ace and George’s wardrobe (and hair), this looks like Episode 5 - this is the episode featured in the official season announcement, directed by Scott Wolf, and with lots of cool scenes shared by Kennedy like this one and this one.

We have two other visual clues that make it more complicated. Bess is wearing her hair up like she wears with the sexy business dress w/name tag (as well as the official promo shot in the white blouse), and she’s got on the black and white coat from this blue screen scene.

And then Kennedy is wearing (I think) this super hot black dress under the blue denim jacket from the same timeframe. That last shot is from DP Nick Thomas - another woods scene that could be from Ep. 5 based on the timing (with stand-ins).

So Episode 5 (if all of this is Ep. 5) has a confrontation in the woods with a demon, a scene in the Claw with some kind of function that requires a name tag (a singles mixer? A pre-law/law school event?), Bess using magic, Nancy and George at a university, multiple scenes in the woods, and one in Icarus Hall with the Crew.

Many have also noticed that Ace is almost always on the outside of any grouping and sometimes apart from the others. Is this because he and Nancy have to stay apart due to the curse, or is it simply a visual framing device?

Speaking of Ace, the women are all dressed up while Ace is in another denim on denim look - is there an event where Nancy’s looking gorgeous but she doesn’t get to dance with Ace? GAH. We need a Nace slow dance in the worst way. Kennedy certainly hinted at Nancy’s agony at being at a party with Ace and not being able to interact with this tweet response to @sflcwers:

Now it’s possible the black dress is for the timey whimey prom Henry’s dressed for, and maybe the trailer’s demon scene is actually from episode 6 with some wardrobe holdover from 5, as they sometimes do.

My biggest question is - what the heck is Nancy holding in the trailer shot above? A magical MacGuffin that will help them fight the threat to the town? A weapon? A giant CHESS PIECE? It sort of looks like an oversized rook, and Kennedy previously gave us a chess EMOJI CLUE.

What if there’s some kind of chess-related mystery that relates to the sins of the past that they have to solve throughout the season? They have to find these chess pieces to save the town! Could it be something the Icarans planned from Icarus Hall? There’s quite a medieval fantasy theme going on with the crossbow, Nancy’s flower crown, and the Icarans sighting in Icarus Hall in the trailer.

OK, pure conjecture on my part, and the chess piece emoji could simply signify Game Night (which if so, yay!), but I LOVE a good mystical scavenger hunt a la the Horcruxes. I realize I may be going full on Beautiful Mind. Please give me your thoughts and theories in the comments/tags!

tracking nuthphop through music ep 7

nuthphop out and about being cute and in love

- (kobicha - arden forest 12:08) phop is pretending to fish in an empty pool and nuth is recording him. they are being cute together. the song is sentimental, they are teasing and having a good time, the song is played on a clean piano while the audio from the characters is ocasionally grainy- since we're hearing the way it sounds through the recorder. it fades out when phop leaves the frame [if yall remember this song was in ep 5 and also played during the first nuthphop scene of the ep when nuth was fondly recording phop]

- (a matter of trust - gavin luke 13:48) this eary piano melody plays when nuth receives texts from keen about someone looking into the masked party. it fades out when the camera changes to fous on zouey and teena [this artist has appeared several times in the nuthphop scenes]

- (19:37) couldn't pick up a full song from this but a few measures of vocal samples play when nuth watches phop suck on a hot dog (not explaining this further playboyy viewers already know what im trying to say), theres a pause and then the vocal samples continue but as chords as they joke around- they morph into staticky metallic pulses as nuth looks at phop and sees a bloodied nuth instead.

- (inverted- hampus naeselius 50:22) this other percussion based high stakes track begins when nuth reveals he believes nant committed suicide [if yall remember this played in ep 4 when nuth was blocked by phop and ep 6 when nont and nuth were video calling, getting the sense this represents something important- my guess would be a song that plays when nuth feels defensive or is maybe being hurt by other characters]

Kate Loree, LMFT, is a sex-positive licensed marriage and family therapist with a specialty in non-monogamous, kink, LGBTQ, and sex worker communities. She is also the author of Open Deeply: A Guide to Building Conscious, Compassionate Open Relationships. 

In addition to her master’s in marriage and family therapy, she also has an MBA and is a registered art therapist (ATR). She is an EDSE-certified sex educator and an EMDR-certified therapist with additional training in the Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM) for the treatment of trauma. She has been practicing psychotherapy since 2003.

Kate is the author of Open Deeply: A Guide to Building Conscious, Compassionate Open Relationships (release date 4/19/22) and cohosts the sex-positive podcast of the same name, Open Deeply, with Sunny Megatron. That fight scene holy…

So DP put their foot down and will dedicate the entire next episode building up to possibly the peak fights in cour 1. Like I’m definitely expecting ep 7 and 8 to be the make or break episodes for this half-season.

Inb4 some reviewer complains that the episode that is completely absent of any groping turns out to be a boring buildup episode.

If nothing else, Animenewsnetwork's review for episode 4 took the transition from non-consenting groping to Fuuko voluntarily allowing herself to be put in a situation that clearly embarrasses her to be a sign that Andy and Fuuko's relationship is going to develop into a healthy and nuanced one, so it seems like people are capable of looking forward rather than assuming what they see is what they'll get

OMG. We went 180 degrees from last week’s desert to this week’s paradise of riches in CW’s Nancy Drew land! We knew Larry Teng and the whole crew wouldn’t abandon us with the BTS content. After the seemingly epic filming of episode 6 when it was all quiet on the set last week, we’ve gotten hints from Kennedy and onset photos for Ep. 6, we’ve heard from exciting new ND writers, and saw some glimpses for Ep. 7 that’s filming right now. Let’s get into it!

I have to start with this incredible “team meeting” cast photo Kennedy posted in non-wardrobe from the Icarus Hall set. So happy to see them together, masks and all! Note Leah with her tablet, Maddison with her phone, Alex going old school with his yellow lined pad and pen, while Tunji and Kennedy are both like “I don’t need to write it down, I remember everything” 😂.

Larry shared twin pics from (presumably) the Ep. 6 set of the women and men of the Drew Crew, and they are perfection.

Nancy, Bess, and George having a heart to heart at the Claw is everything to me. I love these three together whether they are talking ghosts, relationships, career, family, or anything else. Also note the wardrobe, loving George’s yellow blazer and Docs especially. And of course, the Claw is closed, no customers as per usual!

Seeing Ace and Nick together in action is just…no words. Love their looks, love the intensity, just the best two characters together. Of course we’re wondering what’s going on - are they dumpster diving? We saw George and Bess in front of a burned out van back in Ep. 3 - is there a junkyard theme this season 😂?

Ace’s shirt looks a lot like the one he wears in 2x15 (Tom Swift episode), and it’s also a very similar (but slightly different) to two earlier looks, the cast photo from Ep. 2 and the early morning pickups photo from Ep. 3? 4? (some kind of blue/green button down and white T-shirt combo). Coincidence, or is there something else timey wimey going on with Ace? BTW if anyone from production is reading, we’d love to see a nice colorful old man shirt for Ace in one of the eps (also thank you for reading lol).

Speaking of Ace, Kennedy gave us another heart attack on Twitter this week when she gave an emoji hint for Ep. 6 that amounted to someone dying “a little.”

Since we know from Larry that Ep. 6 epic and special effects heavy, I wondered in an earlier post if the crew tries to break the curse in this one. Could things have gone wrong, with Ace being “mostly dead” (shout out to Carly for the perfect Princess Bride reference)? Did they trigger the curse instead, or deliberately try to flatline him like Nancy once thought about doing to George? Or can they somehow use the shroud to flatline Ace and George, revive them - and possibly switch bodies? The possibilities are endless.

Alex did show up for the Ep. 7 team meeting pictured above, so here’s hoping Ace recovers to be with his soulmate (and all that entails) for him and for us, e.g. we’re expecting great things that top that S3 finale dreamscape scene of Nancy and Ace!

So excited to see new writers working on ND this season! Lauren Andrea and Tiffany Irene both posted pics from the set and talked about how great the experience was. So important to see diverse representation in the writers’ room, and also love to hear about how awesome the whole cast and crew are on ND - it really shines through in every episode IMO. So happy for them, and can’t wait to see their words come to life in S4!

Onto a few early hints on Ep. 7. Maddison posted an IG story that Ep. 7 started this week (confirming Larry has a break while he preps Ep. 8, which we know he’s directing). Check out her cute white top from wardrobe hanging up in the closet. DP Nick Thomas posted some gorgeous, spooky photos to his stories from the Historical Society exterior. Are those Riley and Maddison’s stand-ins? Ace and George? Or some combo? Can’t wait to find out.

I may have broken Tumblr’s long post rules, but really hope you enjoyed the pics and speculation. I am almost done with Chapter 9 of The Space Between (S4 spec. fic), it will most likely go up next week. so. the show ended in.. 2007. and. god the last episode sucks so fucking bad. bad enough that the fandom as a whole collectively agrees it does not exist it never happened . phantom planet isnt real phantom planet cant hurt you if you dont look at it or think about it ever. i could go on a whole. rant about how much phantom planet sucks but instead ill just say butch hartman (<< creator of the show) is a fucking. annoying awful person and he was greedy + wanted more money from nickelodeon than they were willing to give him so they gave him a hard limit on episodes before the shoe would be canceled. so. season 3 goes downhill SO fast and ends with the fucking disaster that is phantom planet . and !!! you know how disappointing it is to have your facorite show have a garbage ending!! it sucks!! so then there was like. a HUGE HUGE long silence where there was. 0 canon content bc hartman considered it a flop and kind of just. abandoned it until he wanted clout (there were a few gameboy games that came out after the show ended + some nickelodeon games that included danny as a character + butch made a youtube channel where he would spout absolute death of the author garbage about the show every time he wanted attention but it was mostly dead silence) UNTIL. AGIT. A GLITCH IN TIME IS THE FIRST CANON SHOW COMPLIANT CONTENT THAT HAS BEEN RELEASED SINCE 200 GODDAMN 7. FUCK . and not only is it canon compliant it is ALSO A CONTINUATION OF MY FAVORITE EPISODE IN THE WHOLE SERIES.

so. my favorite episode. is ultimate enemy. it was one of the 4 movie-length episodes and the basic premise is. danny uses his ghodt powers to cheat on a huge standardized test and this sets off a butterfly effect reaction that leads to a timeline where his family + friends get killed in an explosion and he loses his mind and turns into the worlds most powerful villain <3 you can see why i like it so much im sure (<< guy who has a documented chronic weakness for stories where a good guy turns bad etc)

SO AT THE END OF THE EPISODE. Dan (the evil future danny) is trapped and locked away forever . but at the end of the ep theres a scene that hints to a possible future episode where he escapes !!!! so there was always a teased sequel but this sequel was never created due to aforementioned. budget issues and cancellation. etc. buggest disappointment of my life. UNTIL AGIT !!!!!!!!!!!!!

it was released. july of this year . and i am just reading it now bc its been burning a hole in my bedside table bc it never felt like the right time to read it until this morning for some reason. and fuck its so good its literally everything i wanted.

i dont know how involved butch hartman was in the creation of it but the author (gabriela epstein) is obviously someone who cares deeply about the show and the characters and im so fucking happy about it she did an incredible job. i literally had to pause a handful of times in the first few pages just because the characters and dialogue were written so well and it was like SUCH a breath of fresh air (the fandom is. so bad. its so bad. because its been around for so long people have such insane warped takes on a lot of the characters and its become completely unbearable to me ive had to block the tag and its so painful. this is literally the only reason i am not reblogging dp content constantly. i have to filter it through artists i know can handle the characters properly. if i was not nerfed by the awful fandom it would be 24/7/365 dp lockdown and id be so unbearable) OH ALSO not only is agit a continuation of my alltime favorite episode, it also retcons the garbage pile that is phantom planet in a way that acknowledges that it was a real thing that happened but going back on it in a way that feels so so so so natural for the show. so it wasnt a throwaway "no that was bad lets forget about it" it was a well crafted well thought out "this was real and it sucked and the characters remember it BUT we can play with timeline so things will continue as normal" and . holy shit it was so fucking good. i will begrudgingly acknowledge phantom planets existence if only for agit.
