At last "Dragalia Radio Castle" has started!

For this memorable first broadcast, we will once again be introducing and talked about Uchiyama Kouki who plays the "The Prince" and Uchiyama Yumi who plays "Cleo"!

Also, apart from talking about the game itself, we wanted the audience to get to know more about the radio personalities themselves, thus a special segment "Personality Five Questions" was played. The two of them each answered five questions.

Lore database updates!

Sorry for all the radio silence! Been juggling quite a few balls recently, but I finally sat down and hammered out some plans for the lore database. Here are some details:

I’m writing it in Notion. For those who don’t know, Notion is a pretty rad note-taking software that takes a bunch of organization programs and mushes them all together into one neat package. It’s extremely customizable--BUT, more importantly for my purposes, it’s EXTREMELY easy to organize and tag--so that’s what I’m doing.

I’ve split general Dragalia lore into four categories: Factions, Nations, Races, and Lore. Nations covers known kingdoms and countries--Grams, Taiwu, and Hinomoto, for example--while factions covers groups either within those nations or groups that aren’t associated with any of them. (Groups like the Syndicate, the mukuroshu, the Agito, the apostles, etc.) Races covers the various... well, races that populate Grastaea, and lore tackles any general world concepts, such as mana, shapeshifting, important historical events, et cetera.

I’ll also be making a database for the various special events, though these will mostly focus only on story and character origins. I might make a timeline page if I can figure out how...

Everything will link to a source! Any bit of lore I can find/use will be sourced back to its page on the wiki, whether it’s a character story, a wyrmprint, or a weapon description. (With luck, pages will also cross-reference with each other, but that’s a later problem.)

For now, I won’t be making pages on individual characters, simply because there’s 200+ of them and my brain will break. That IS a plan later down the line.

Not much to say translation wise. 

If you’re familiar with Granblue, you may recall a radio show segment where Albert’s VA discussed how the Levin Uniforms were designed. With Albert as the primary designer with input from Yurius. 

It seems in Rage of Bahamut they’re both equally responsible for the design as there’s an earlier 4Koma with Albert discussing the aesthetics. 

Yurius of course also wears a Levin Uniform in the Granblue gag comics as well. (But he stole Mina’s uniform and didn’t make a unique one for himself like in RoB.) Though in RoB this cross dressing is not a one time thing. 

I’m eager to see Yurius in a Levin Uniform to show up in the Dragalia comics too.

Yay! Thinking about it my fandoms and games overlap, quite a lot, so I'll try to choose stuff that's not games-

Fandoms-

1. Uh, I'm really liking slashers at the moment? I dont know looking back at slasher films and the bad effects give me an odd sense of joy and hilarity. Especially Friday the 13th, a classic, but my birthday's on the 13th day so I shall watch everytime it's on a Friday-

2. Musicals! Specifically the popular ones like BMC or Hamilton. I have yet to go to DEH and I want to I'm just getting side tracked. Also the Dolls of New Albion, though that's a steampunk opera.

3. There will always be a place in my heart for the Tithe series by Holly Black, a great 3 book series I'd definitely reccomend a read, you can find them online!

4. The SEGA games. Listen, I thought sonic was pure 7-10 year old years for me but its come back and hit me hard- and lead me to Jet Set Radio (Jet Grind Radio?) And Jet Set Radio Future it's probably the best game-based thing to happen to me yet

5. Dead by Daylight! One of the first XBox games I got into and most definitely wasnt the last!

Games-

1. FNaF. I'm not active in the fandom, at all anymore. But it really got me to find the youtubers I watch today so I have an odd appreciation for it, always draws me back in when I look back at it.

2. Dead by Daylight, again! It deserves two spots I guess. It's very fun to play with friends, but I'm too shy to really find more to play with

3. Sally Face! I loved watching this and always wish to play it, my computer cant handle it though. Plus, drawing Sally and Larry is so fun, an excuse to draw different hairstyles. So bonus points!

4. Minecraft. It was such a huge thing to me when I was in Junior High and Intermediate that there's no way I'll ever not like it.

5. Food Fantasy. I'm so into this game it's kinda sad. Two whole blogs dedicated to the ones that interest me the most- I love how everyone's backstory intercepts. And although, the fandom has more than a few problems, I will always love this game and waste my money on it.

Honourable mentions for games- Dragalia Lost and Epic Seven! Dont remember how I found them but they're great time killers and their mechanics are really fun to mess around with. The characters are so interesting and unique, if anyone ever has the time, both are also a reccomend!

This week we have our first guest on our program! Let's welcome Inoue Kikuko who plays Mercury!

Apart from exchanging the usual greetings, we discussed vibrantly about the characters. This time, a special program "Guest Five Questions" will be held where we ask 5 questions to our guests and they will answer them. That is it for the explanations, let us see what Ms Inoue Kikuko has answered.

After listening and discussing about Brunhilda's story, we also hosted the special program "Guest Five Questions" as a challenge for Ms Endou. Blog Update Aug 2022

I will be graduating soon! And it seems that Dragalia Lost has announced End of Service on November 30th. It is very saddening to hear we will not be getting any offline content. Thus my goal for this blog is to act as both a way to preserve the content of the game through the Dragalia Minis translations and the song translations but hopefully to also be able to hold information of the now removed Dragalia Radio Castle and Dragalia Radio Garden radio broadcasts.

Unfortunately it would be impossible for me to translate all 181 radio shows especially since I have no qualifications. Thus I decided to translate the recap posts on the websites which do a very short summary of the episode. To make it more fun to view I decided to add some visuals as well (gotta put that university knowledge to use). That is all for the blog. There are quite a lot of songs left to translate that I have the lyrics for so feel free to suggest what I should start with. I will prioritize those from the 2nd album (please release the third and final one Cygames).

Everything below would be about my need for donations but please do not worry, even without donations I will still do my best to keep this blog and the memories of Dragalia Lost alive.

Man...my final 2 months of university was terrible. My mom was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in July and so to take care of her I will only be able to take short hour part time jobs in the weekday and longer ones on the weekend. Right now I have 1 job but i’m praying I will be able to get a weekend job.

I am really thankful for all the donations and support I have received. It has helped me complete my university journey without needing external financial assistance from my family and I am really really thankful to everyone who has helped me. I feel bad asking for more donations without doing anything and now with no minis to translate and with Dragalia Lost ending soon this will not be sustainable. Honestly I’m not too sure how I will end this post...

Blog Update May

Hello! So this post is just to talk about I guess my plan with this blog, it might be a bit long so I’ll put it under read more if anyone is interested. 

But the short version would be I’m planning to release more lyrics translations in the future, but I will still be translating the Dragalia Minis that release every Monday. I also set up a ko-fi page because I’m worried about my family’s finance and if I could get a little help I would really really appreciate it.

I’ve been posting a lot of lyrics translations lately, to be honest it is because seeing all the things I need to redraw for 1 comic is killing my willpower. 

Help.

I love translating all these Dragalia content but I needed a break. It takes a almost as much time to translate and sync the lyrics to the song but I’ve been enjoying it.

For the Mini Comics there are 8 left that I have not posted, 7 have been translated (meaning I know what they are talking about) 4 have been cleaned and redrawn and they will be posted on days I don’t have any translation stuff going on. Yesterday I translated Okada’s Q&A from Dragalia Radio which you can find here on reddit if you are interested.

I have posted indexes for both the music videos and the Dragalia Mini comics yesterday because tumblr’s blog page editor drives me nuts every time I post a new comic because it is so hard to update the link and have it working in one try. So I’m planning to just copy and paste the html code from the text pose to soothe my sanity.

Another thing that drives me insane is sometimes posting videos on both tumblr and reddit fails. I do not know why but wow i wanna cry sometimes. I know someone asked why I do not post the videos on Youtube and the simplest answer will be Copyright Strikes. Posting DAOKO music on youtube can easily have TOYFACTORY shoot me with a copyright strike. Especially Aketara (Fortune from Afar Song) which is why you can’t even find the non-vocal version of it on Youtube.

The translation plan now is to just post when I feel like it, mostly on weekends because I have the most free time then. It roughly takes me 8 hours to translate, sync and make the video. But I still enjoy the process. I currently already have 3 songs translated and I am just waiting to make the video/post the video at a good time. The next video I’ll be posting is 鬼さんこちら (Mister Ogre Look this way), the basic Raid Event themes for Raids that do not have dedicated songs for them. I’ll be posting it on the day of the Loyalty’s Requiem rerun so please look forward to that!

Finally, I have made a ko-fi page. It is basically a donation page. Due to the COVID-19 situation my father has lost his job. I’ve mentioned before that I am under long term hospital treatment and I’m really worried for my family. I’m unable to do any jobs right now due to my health and the current state of my country. If you really enjoy my translations please consider helping me tide through these times. Regardless, I’ll still do my best in translating and maintaining this blog.
