… (oil on board - 24” x24” ) so I started out with a plan for something different that didn’t work out - so I decided to just squeegee it (a la Richter sort of ) - anyway it’s just a technique to play with black and yellow which can make an awesome green that really vibrates with cadmium red dragged over … this technique is not anything new - I just really enjoyed playing with thick color and dragging it across the surface - sometimes it’s good to just work with a process…. You and stella-minerva have two of my favorite Levellan's I've seen. Seeing them really helps inspire me to work on mine and make her a better character/research to make her a better representation since before she was ambigiously brown.

I hope this isnt weird to ask but about your post for semi realism/ realism ATLA art, do you know any good sites/blogs for faceclaim references? Alot of people use pinterest which isnt really diverse.

it’s not weird at all!  you’re right, pinterest can be pretty hit or miss.  also with unsourced pics, it can be hard to know for certain what the backgrounds of the models are.  i’ve seen people talk about unsplash, but personally i find the search feature a bit tricky.

i found a few faceclaim directories/masterlists(x, x, x) that could help you (btw these are just for general faceclaims of color, but you can narrow it down by identity).  if you’re looking for help with drawing specific features, the blog @drawingincolor has collected a lot of incredibly helpful references and tutorials.

Hey, I want to be able to accurately represent different races in a cartoon-y style, but I'm afraid of accidentally creating a racist portrayal/exaggeration (like the whole asian people with line eyes/african-american people with giant lips people sometimes default to), Do you have any tips for things to avoid, or people/posts you can point me to to help with this....? It's fine if not, I'm just kind of asking around because I've been having trouble finding anything <3
