I have not seen anything about a 2024 14 Days of Dragon Age Lovers, but I never finish the full lists so I still have some of the previous two years to do.
14 Days of Dragon Age Lovers
Prompt: Approval (2022)
For @14daysdalovers writing prompts :D
Pairing: (Bards Drabbles au) Cassandra Pentaghast x Solas
Rating: G
This one is kinda a sequel to "Encourage". Like what happens the next day.
She watched him with baited breath. Turmoil and anguish and beaming pride at war in her chest.
He stood above the battlefield, gold armor shining in the moonlight and her breast was full to burst.
"Allow me to go with you, Solas,” she shouted up at him, the din of clashing weapons surrounded her, but years of hard fought victories tempered her voice to a bellow.
“You would abandon your god, Seeker?” He arched a brow, his voice surrounding her like a divine breath.
“No, but I would join you to fight yours!” Under her helmet her eyes shone with conviction, determination set her jaw.
If he was surprised by her declaration, he did not show it, but the subtle incline of his head was the approval she sought.
Mustering her courage she barked orders to the troops around her, and like ripples upon the surface of an ancient pound, the battle around her came clattering to a halt.
“Inquisition!”
“The Dread Wolf and the Divine have come to an understanding. An Enemy of our Enemy is an Ally, and as such, we shall join forces against the Venatori and the Qun!”

I find it so silly drgon age made the chantry female dominated but misogyny is still everywhere unchanged, you cant even be female in the game without everyone commenting how weird that a woman fights

Inquisitor: Tell me about Anders? What was he like?
Hawke: No, you don't want to hear about Anders. You just want to hear about the mage who blown up the chantry.
Inquisitor: I-
Hawke: No, people never want to hear about all the good things he has done. The people he saved. You just want to hear about the chantry.
Hawke: If it was any other bulding, people would have said, oh thank the maker, somebody got rid of that eyesore, but no, it is the chantry. A place of peace, to whom, I don't know.
Hawke: Funny how nobody talks the chantry and how it's treated its mages for all these years. Let me guess it's the will of the maker that that the chantry has a bunch of ass-heads in it. The chantry can eat a nug turd for all I care.
Hawke: So, is that everything you wanted to know about Anders. Oh lord Inquisitor?
Inquisitor: Yes, that was everything. Thank you.

Another Great DA Mystery...
"The scar"...
This is a long rant/ my own theory crafting piece about how Cullen got the scar on his lip. Like it is very noticeable he did not have it in DA:O, or DA II but he has it in DA:i...
And well...
As far as I know (and am aware of) there is no official cannon explanation for how he got his scar and we can all speculate how he got it
(which I think it awesome and leaves room for so much creative freedom and to create infinite scenarios on how he got it~ and keep that mystery annnd...)
So these are just a few of my ideas and theories...
Would love to hear feedback~
Oh and spoilers-- obviously for the dragon age franchise and games ahead:
Read at your own discretion
Alright... ehem sooo...
Thank you for coming to my Cullen scar origin ted/ theory talk.
I have always wondered how Cullen got his scar on his face in dragon age inquisition...
Like it definitely adds to his hottness factor...
And it is significant that he has it at all or still...
Because healing magic exists and can probably easily remove/ heal scars.
And soo having established that fact--
Cullen does have a deep rooted fear and a bad history with magic. So he is probably very adversed to having magic used on him-- especially without his permission...
So I think he got the scar when he was at Kirkwall's Circle, and right before he joined the inquisition-- because as far as I know and can tell from the... well low res graphics of Origins and DA II he did not have the scar...
BOOM!
Zoom in!
HERE'S A SIDE BY SIDE comparison:
From the cover picture above the cut~
Seee no scar in the first two games but then BAM there it is!
And well...
I did read on his wiki page that he was in charge of re-establishing order in Kirkwall's circle after Merdieth was permanently, put out of her position and Cullen ruled with an iron first...
Sooo having established that cannon stuff-- I have three theroies on how he got it:
So buckle up Ya'll let's thoery craft some ideas about this totally not important-- but very important to a selected few topic!
Theory #1 :
It was Hawke from DA: II
This is most popular theory I have seen floating around, and I think makes the most sense story wise:
The main player character from DA II - the champion of Kirkwall who gave Cullen his scar.
Because, I think Hawke knew that Cullen was just scared, and acting very irrationally with trying to re-establish order after Kirkwall's circle fell so...
They punched some sense into Cullen after a very heated argument, about the abhorrent treatment of mages-- that lead to them rebelling.
Which caused a new war between Templars/ Chantry/ Circles and mages to start-- and how the order itself was broken now, and that was a good thing. Because maybe some much needed change can come out from the rubble.
Cullen was not expecting Hawke (espeically if you're mage Hawke) to have such strength and punch him so hard it left a scar on his face. (Maybe wearing their signature spikey gaulet at the time? Could do some damage and leave a deep enough wound to scar Cullen's face)
And I like to think sassy Hawke might have said something along the lines of,
"Since my words are not getting through your thick anti-magic-lyrium-controlled-brainwashed skull-- then I'll turn them into something you'll understand, and hopefully you'll finally get it-"
Then Hawke Teleports or quick steps right infront of Cullen and uses the leftover momentum to give more force behind the punch. Also mages were never trained to defend themselves and Hawke being an apostate mage could throw Cullen off at their knowledge to throw a punch-- let a lone be able to use hand to hand combat and know how to use a veriatrey of weapons-- including Hawke's signature "long knife" staff.
That gave Hawke a quick switch between using magic or a physical hitting weapon or a combination of both that goes against the Templar's and order policy on what mages can use and know for combat-- if trained at all in combat or self defense which the mages in the order were not-- or it was serverly restricted, because it was another way to control, and suppress the mages.
And the punch Hawke threw at Cullen and hit him with was trying to convey to Cullen,
"You need to wake the F up-- and see that you're being an unfair ass who deserves to have some sense punched into you."
And deep down...
Cullen realizes Hawke is right and that starts the cytatalist towards his 180° change we see him make in Dragon Age Inquisition.
(Luckily Cullen did not get any teeth knocked out, but it was damn near close and hurt a lot.)
Additionally...
Cullen with a fear of magic still fresh in his mind refused to have it healed by magic and got it stitched. He also kept it as a constant reminder of how much of a jerk and irrational fool he was acting like. Also that punch and whatever Hawke had said to Cullen was the wake up call he needed.
Also, explains why Cullen will not go see Hawke when they are summoned to Skyhold by Varric in Dragon Age: Inquisition...
Cullen feels a great amount of shame and regret for every mage he had wronged. When those mages did nothing wrong to him personally (like the ones in Ferelden's circle-- who actually harmed and tortured him), any mage outside of that just had magic... which should not be feared-- because it would lead to what happened at Ferelden and Kirkwall's circle when mages were serverly oppressed.
Also...
Hawke had said enough to Cullen when they saw eachother at Kirkwall-- and Cullen joining the inquisition as the Commander of its military forces is probably more than enough proof of his change and seeing Hawke is-- or was not required for Cullen to do at the time.
Gosh it sucks though... I reaaallly wanted to see Hawke and Cullen interact and sassy Hawke being like,
"Well look at you. All grown up and unchained now-- with a chip on your lip, oh sorry-- I mean your shoulder."
-------------------------
Theory #2:
He got it during the final battle against Merdieth.
(Gif made by me from this video)
If you make the choice to side with mages and go against the Templars in Dragon age II
(I think this is how the cannon story things went because Cullen references how his former knight comander went mad when you talk to him outside in Heaven's training grounds/ troop camp in DA: inquisition. Also in Solas' wiki page ot mentions a idol/ statue in Kirkwall he uses to further tear down the veil and bring back the elven race he hates??? Hmmm bit confusing-- but we need a sussy villain (another mage) for the 4th game I guess¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )
This one also holds a lot of weight as well... being that Cullen joins Hawke's side in the final battle against his former knight comander-- who clearly went mad after being exposed to red lyrium by using a red lyrium sword. (if you went that route in DA:II)
And...
It's not shown dude to graphical limitations, but because of that we can imagine he got pretty roughed up from that fight (and maybe he has even more scars on his body as well)
This is definitely a way he could have gotten his scar, and lets us use our imagination to fill in the gaps-- again due to graphical or programing limitations in the game (or the game devs choosen to add it after the time we saw him in DA:2).
--------------------------
Theory # 3:
Cullen got it after/ when he joined the inquisition.
He has it when we first meet him in the inquisition game-- and he has been with the inquisition for months at this point as well. The scar looks like it is old and naturally healed on it own. So, some time has significantly passed since he got it...
So...
He has been fighting for a long while, and he stopped taking lyrium when he joined the inquisition (as he stated in his personal DA: i questline "Perseverance") so he is at a hudge disadvantage when fighting against magical beings-- such as rebel mages, abominations, demons and ect.
Therefore...
Cullen could have easily gotten badly wounded when he stopped taking Lyrium that helped give him an advantage with protection/ resistant against magical threats. But the sudden disadvantage threw him off enough to allow him to get hurt more...
Gif source
Ack! Sorry Cullen! 😣
Also the inquisition was still in its infancy at the time so they might have not have access to mages, healers, healing salves, and various other magical resources-- at that time...
(also just a side thing but maybe Cassandra heleped to patch him up? and he refused to have magic used on him due to his fear of it still being there?)
He is still a very good fighter as he stated in DA:i that even without their Lyrium abilities-- Templars are agmounst some of the best warriors in Thedas (and well they are also very good at running away... *cough DA:O and DA: II cough cough*)
Oi! GET BACK HERE AND LET ME LOVE YOU DAMMIT!
(At least we got to finally have a realtionship with him in inquisition... only took two games and 10 years.)
Though when you hear about him fighting in the Arbor Wilds you can overhear some of the soldiers in the inquisition encampment, stating that he has been fighting for two days straight-- and only had a few hours or even just one hour of rest...
If that's true then dear Maker that man is more of a monster or beast than the monsters he is fighting against...
(Or just so much pent up frustration and anger he just needs to blow off and he had more than enough to carry him through about three days of non stop fighting against Corypheus' forces)
Well... He must have gotten the monocure of "The Lion of Ferelden" for a reason…
(CAUSE HE IS A MF BEAST WHO DON'T NEED NO LYRIUM!) (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻
And I'd follow him through hell and back again!
----------------------
Well that's it. That's my personal ideas and theories on how he got his scar.
Extra stuff:
My personal extra toughts on his scar--
Regardless of how he got it the fact that it is there is very significant. I like to think it is a reminder and a physical mark of something that was extremely life (and face) changing for Cullen.
Also I like to think he kept it and had it stitched. Not only because of his misguided adversion towards magic, but the pain he endured is symbolic and mages should not waste their magic on someone like him-- who treated them badly and unfairly "at times without cause"-- so he still probably feels the sting of it, to remind him of the pain he needlessly put others through because of his anger blinding him.
.
.
.
Welp that's all for now folks! I obviously had a lot to say about this but that's just the fun of open ended mysteries and questions.
You can make up your own ideas and stories! And I think at the heart of it all... That's what the DA games are truly about.
So take this all with a big grain of salt and this is only some of many ideas floating about there.
And there is no right or wrong answers either~
Would love to hear feedback and comments~
Thank you again for coming to my too long ted talk about a not so important but important to a few topic/ rant~
Hope you have a good day and as always...
May the Maker watch over you and Andreste preserve you~
...
Farewell ;D

The Dark Bull by CaffeinePainter
Iron Bull's skin is now a lot darker and a lot less oily. The scars on his face are toned down and many remove completely. His horns are brighter with the look of the bony material. His teeth are also whiter. The eye-patch now has some gold lining to match the tattooed dots on his body. The gold dots will be visible in all Iron Bull scenes (not switched out for the black body paint).
