Dratchrod decepticon claiming bites? Idea originally from GhostHost on ao3 & i love it!

Deadlock gave Ratchet a horrendous bite claim that couldn’t be covered. It was surprisingly Rodimus who gave Drift a mating claim in the form of two burns on his face? Drift puts that red paint on them for decoration.

Ratchet courted Drift the autobot way with gifts, affection and companionship while Rodimus courted Ratchet with whatever the mech asked for and long moments of peace in and out if the medbay.

Neither remember that they never courted Rodimus.

And it only comes to head when Magnus pulls them aside asking if they would take it personal if he and Megatron started courting him since he and Megatron

— ( who are claimed together by Magnus marking Megatron’s chest with a curl design on each side & Megatron courting Magnus/Minimus with poetry, honesty & promising to walk beside him for the rest of their life cycle. He chose the way miners used to court since he wanted it to be genuine & Magnus/Minimus truly appreciated it )

— knew they were amica with benefits.

The two are completely shocked and blindsided by this & they start denying that saying they’re in a relationship until they realize they never courted Rodimus back and Magnus takes this as his opportunity to inform them he and Megatron would be pursuing.

So now its a race against the clock for Drift & Ratchet to court Rodimus.

But things aren’t easy or simple when they see Magnus and Megatron enter Rodimus’s office and get a bad feeling.

They don’t see or hear from Rodimus until the next day who is blushing receiving a gift from Magnus. They didn’t even know Rodimus liked plants since he didn’t care much for flowers.

It doesn’t get better when they see Megatron put a cube of energon to Rodimus lips and tells him to “drink,” with an emotion one would not say Megatron capable of.

Idk i just like the angst of dratchrod because of canon dratchet & rodimus is alone 😭 but i promise i like dratchrod happy. I also like Megarod & Magnus/Minimus with rodimus.

WOAGH alright regarding that last ask… i want to assume that by Rodimus’ boyfriend you mean Drift? Not complaining if thats the case! i LOVE myself some good, healthy DriftRod!

Tho I wouldn't necessarily call their relationship "healthy."

Drift is like, the ultimate people pleaser, crafting his identity to fit whatever mold he perceives is expected of him in a desperate attempt to find meaning and purpose in his life. He started out as a suicidal drug addict, became the Decepticon army's deadliest assassin, and then he tried to be a religious pacifist until they found out he used to be an assassin. It's like, even as he overhauls his entire personality for others, his past still comes back to haunt him. He clings to whatever path he believes will save him because without external guidance he doesnt know who he is or what to do with himself.

Rodimus for his part is a narcissist. He craves attention and validation, and has self esteem issues even while he thinks he's definitely leader material. He met Drift at a low point in the ex-Decepticon's life, and confidently told him who he should be and what he should do, and that was exactly what Drift needed. Drift believes Rodimus saved his life in that moment and dedicated his life to him, while Rodimus gets his very own hype man.

They're codependent is what I'm saying, it's not the most healthy but they kinda make it work? XD

You know what I realized? I don’t really hate the idea that was for Cyberverse Drift- well I kinda do but only because the “build up” or hint to the reveal of him betraying the autobots…. Was just BAD. So I thought this lil idea….

In a TFA AU. Where Autobots are still on Earth it’s around Season Two after the Events with Megatron and whatnot, where Drift/Deadlock crashes on Earth and joins up with team Prime, offering his help; Ratchet is suspicious of him though and doesn’t trust him. As time goes on he proves himself a good teammate despite being a goof and occasionally a bit invasive, Ratchet is still wary of him but drops his guard a bit but around the end of Season Two he pretty pulls a “HA HA! IT WAS I DIO” of course team Prime is hurt Ratchet has obligatory I told you so, fight ensues, Prowl and Optimus jump Deadlock and put him in Stasis cuffs.

I know kinda all over the place but hey it’s a pretty good idea

I have been obsessed with @madamadamiu s lost light cat shelter AU so here is my headcannon for drifts backstory (I scribbled this out as fast as humanly possible) :

Deadlock escapes animal control when they bust megatron’s colony, only for wing to hit him with his car almost immediately after. He raced him to a vet and ended up adopting him.

Wing thinks he has a gray coat, until he tries to wash him…. (This is how I’m incorporating the frame and color scheme change lmao)

Wing dies of an unexpected heart attack a year or so later, resulting in drift ending up at the lost light cat shelter.

He loves his insane cat!! Drift appreciates him, and wing isn’t so lonely anymore :)
