Pete Best Band with the Cyrkle at Valley Dale Ballroom, Columbus, Ohio, July 28, 2024
Pete Best says his four-show American swing is designed to take audiences “back to the days I played with four guys named John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Stuart Sutcliffe.”
That it did. Though the crystal chandeliers that hung from the ceiling of Columbus, Ohio’s 1920s-era Valley Dale Ballroom likely didn’t remind Best of the dingy U.K. and European clubs in which he put the backbeat in the Beatles from 1960-’62.
Best made the comment after his eponymous Band’s opening salvo of “Rock and Roll Music,” “What I’d Say,” “One after 909” and “Chains,” which were played on a stage bookended by screens that showed images of the Best-era Beatles together on- and off-stage.
It was the one time on July 28 the 82-year-old, black-clad Best would emerge from behind his white Gretsch drum set, from which he, alongside brother Roag on an adjacent kit, drove the all-Liverpudlian quintet though 23 songs and 90 minutes of authentically rendered, pre-Fab Beatles music.
Recreating Beatles tracks is a ridiculously difficult proposition, as Best’s tour mates, the Cyrkle, demonstrated during their hourlong opening set. The Brian Epstein-managed group, which has two members remaining from the lineup that played on the Fabs’ ’66 tour, offered such selections as “If I Needed Someone,” “Eight Days a Week” and “While My Guitar Gently Weeps;” numbers by the Ides of March (“Vehicle”) and Ohio Express (“Chewy Chewy”); and its own two hits, “Turn Down Day” and “Red Rubber Ball.” The musicianship was shaky; the set list often beyond the Cyrkle’s grasp, particularly on the Beatles songs and McCartney’s “Maybe I’m Amazed.”
Tumblr media
But where the Cyrkle stumbled, the PBB soared, reigniting a 60-plus-year-old jumble of energy on Beatles numbers both mostly forgotten (the Lennon-Harrison instrumental “Cry for a Shadow,” Lennon-McCartney’s “Hello Little Girl”) and still-beloved as with “P.S. I Love You” and “I Saw Her Standing There.”
Best’s wisdom lay in his sticking with his era and avoiding songs with which he wasn’t involved. Tony Flynn, who proved his Britishness by praising the virtues of Olive Garden’s Italian food, was particularly adept on throat-shredding numbers such as “Please Mr. Postman” and “Mr. Moonlight,” yet softer fare, including “Besame Mucho,” “Till There was You” and “Like Dreamers Do” fared just as well, sounding right at home in America in 2024.
And by the time the Pete Best Band said cheerio with the pairing of “Kansas City/Hey Hey Hey,” fans could only be grateful Best returned to music in the 1980s and continues to share the fruits of his truncated career with Beatlemaniacs who are better off for his musical generosity.
Sound Bites still isn’t sure what he expected from Best. But it surely wasn’t an exceptional gig such as this.
Pete Best Band setlist: “Rock and Roll Music;” “What I’d Say;” “One after 909;” “Chains;” “Please Mr. Postman;” “Hello Little Girl;” “Mr. Moonlight;” “P.S. I Love You;” “Roll over Beethoven;” “Besame Mucho;” “Cry for a Shadow;” “Till there Was You;” “Slow Down;” “Money (That’s What I Want);” “Like Dreamers Do;” “Ain’t She Sweet;” “My Bonnie;” “Lucille;” “Memphis, Tennessee;” “Some other Guy;” “I Saw Her Standing There;” “Twist and Shout;” “Kansas City/Hey Hey Hey”

Jareth/Goblin King x F! Reader
Summary : As Sarah's next door neighbour, you're often Mrs Williams' last resort as a babysitter. Sarah had never liked this, but she can be extremely unreliable at times. One stormy night, Sarah grows frustrated with her baby brother and babysitter, resulting in saying a phrase that she later wants to take back. Now, you are stuck in The Goblin Kings realm with little hope to returning home again, unless Sarah can reach the castle and defeat Jareth in time.
"You are restless, my dear."
You paced throughout the throne room. Jareth sat on his throne with Tobey awake and babbling on his knee. Jareth wouldn't let you hold Tobey, as he feared you'd try and make a run for it the moment you had him secured in your arms.
Jareth leaned his head into his hand, which rested against the arm rest of his throne. He occasionally glanced up, amused with your consistent distress as you tried to accept your fate. His other hand held a glass ball, which held an image of Sarah as she continued to navigate through tunnels and turns.
"Sarah only has 4 hours left," you muttered aloud, to nobody in particular. You continued to look at the ever moving sand timer, and out the window which beheld Jareth's Kingdom. You fretted over the idea that Sarah and Tobey would be resigned to an eternal fate as Goblin's, forced to live under Jareth's malicious rule.
"You should rest," Jareth suggested, now lowering the glass ball to focus his attention on you. Sarah wasn't doing much else interesting; she had found herself stuck at one of Jareth's twists, setting her back at least another 15 minutes.
You glanced over at Jareth, then at Tobey, but you ultimately shook your head and brushed off his suggestion. How could you possibly rest right now? Sarah was navigating through something so dangerous, and Tobey was perched on the knee of a dangerous King. No, you couldn't rest like this, not until you knew for certain how this would all end.
With Sarah either defeating the Labyrinth, or with Sarah and Tobey turning into Goblins.
Jareth held the glass ball close to his face, and then he gently blew on it. It turned into a bubble, and it floated across the room. You spun on your heel to continue pacing, but froze in shock as the bubble popped in your face; glitter sprinkled over your eyes, and you sneezed immediately.
You used your sleeve to rub furiously at your face, to try and brush away the glitter. But all it did was cover your sleeve in the stuff. You glared over at Jareth, who continued to watch you with an amused smirk, like you were the most interesting person in the world.
"What was that for?" You grumbled, blinking rapidly to try and get the glitter out of your eyes. Surprisingly, it didn't hurt nor irritated your eyes. It did, however, create a smudge that begun to make you feel drowsy.
Jareth drummed his fingers into the arm rest of his throne. "You should rest," he repeated, his voice sounding extremely close to your ears.
You remained rooted to the spot, refusing to give in to whatever magic he had cast over you. You couldn't fall asleep, not when you needed to keep a close eye on the sand timer and ensure Tobey remained in your sight. Neither of them would be safe if you caved in and fell asleep.
"Don't fight it, [Name]," Jareth said softly, his voice causing you to close your eyes for longer than you had anticipated. Then, you could no longer feel the heaviness in your body, and it felt like you were floating.
...
Music.
It's the first thing you registered upon opening your eyes.
Then, you watched in amazement as bodies twirled and danced across the centre of the grand ballroom. It was draped in luxury; silk in every corner, crystals hanging and sparkling from the chandelier. Everyone wore a ballgown suited to royalty, and a masquerade mask settled over their faces.
You stepped slowly into the ballroom, remaining unnoticed and undetected. You turned your head to the left, catching your reflection in a golden-framed mirror.
Your gown was beautiful; reminding you of a princess from a fairy tale. You gently ran your fingers over the expensive material, fingers bumping against gemstones that blended seamlessly with the outfit. The dress was a dark blue, like the midnight sky. The sleeves were short and flowy, but your arms were covered by gloves that fit up to your elbow. Your hair was pinned half-up and half-down, with it curled and cascading like a waterfall over your shoulders. A dark blue crystal hung around your neck, and you found yourself gingerly touching the gem. You stared at the soft makeup that complimented your features, the way your lips shimmered from the gloss. A light dusting of glitter was sprinkled over your face and hair, making you sparkle under the light.
You moved away from the mirror and moved towards the main event. You tried to remain impassive to the stares from strangers, and the way they whispered of your presence. You thought it might be because you were the only one without a masquerade mask, exposed and vulnerable as you navigated the room.
But their stares were so cruel. And they laughed as you slipped by.
Why were you here?
You searched the endless sea of people, for a familiar face who could perhaps rescue you. But in a masquerade ball, finding someone familiar was basically impossible. You disliked the feeling of being so alone, so abandoned.
"Care to dance?" asked a man from behind. You turned around, hoping it would be someone you knew. But the cold, black eyes warned you otherwise. You curtsied politely, but shook your head to reject his offer.
He lowered his hand, seemingly disappointed, but stepped to the side where he engaged in those cruel whispers with people he obviously knew. They shared laughs that seemed directed at you, and so you fled from the group to create some distance.
A servant stopped in front of you, a tray of balanced glasses of wine held out for you to take. You stared at the clear alcohol and numbly plucked a glass from his tray, whispering a small 'thanks' before he moved along to the next guest, replacing empty drinks with full ones with a swiftness you couldn't believe.
You raised the glass to your nose and inhaled, finding a sweet scent instead of the expected bitter one. You then took a sip, welcoming the way warmth spread inside your chest. Weird; normally alcohol created warmth in the stomach.
Didn't it?
Then, you finally locked eyes with someone. He stared at you from across the room, standing lazily with a group of people, but disconnected from their conversation. His hair was a tamed mess, blond and long as it reached down his shoulders. His outfit was dark blue, the same midnight colour as your dress. While everyone else wore bright, popping colours, you found that you were the odd one out.
A group of people walked in front of you, blocking your eye contact with the man. You tried to look past them, catching glimpses of his face, before he finally disappeared as you blinked. You stood in awe at this, butterflies filling your stomach from the encounter.
But you felt like you knew him. His eyes were so familiar. His stance was so recognisable, like he held a power that nobody would understand. Like nobody else could possess.
You moved forward, now abandoning your drink as you gently lifted the skirt of your dress, helping you move faster as you searched with an increasing desperation for this mysterious man.
And across the room you continued to catch glimpses of him. You'd blink and he would vanish. You felt frustrated, feeling as though he was now playing a game with you. Like he was deliberately doing this because he felt some kind of amusement at your distress.
You stood with diminishing hope in the centre of the room. Couples danced freely around you, their bodies brushing against yours. You tried to escape from the circle of dancers, but their cruel stares made you suddenly aware that they were entrapping you like this. You spun in a circle, your heart hammering as you searched for an exit, but there was none in sight.
Then you saw him again. Just beyond the circle of dancers. He watched you closely, his expression blank, lacking any kind of amusement or concern. He looked like he was waiting for something.
You felt hopeless. It was like he knew that. So why wasn't he helping you?
No...
That felt familiar.
You shook off the feeling and instead locked eyes with him, and then you whispered the words, "please, help me."
You watched as his lips curled into a knowing smirk. And suddenly the circle broke, allowing him to step onto the dance floor. He stopped directly in front of you, held out his hand and bowed respectfully. You slipped your hand into his and followed his mannerisms, curtsying out of respect for your dance partner.
And then he whisked you away.
One hand remained firmly in yours, and the other placed on your waist. You directed your free hand to his chest, and allowed him to guide you into a beautiful dance across the ballroom.
You stared into his eyes, mesmerised by the way they twinkled.
Then, he leaned down into your ear. "You asked for help," he pointed out, releasing a breathy laugh.
You shuddered at his warm breath against your ear. You looked directly at his own ear, where an earring dangled from it. You gingerly reached up and touched it. He watched you from the corner of his eye, curious and amused with your actions.
"I asked for help," you confirmed, feeling as though this moment was so familiar. You blinked and eyed his mask carefully, then reached up to try and remove it from his face. He stopped your hand with his own, just as the music ended and an applause broke out across the room. He moved your hand to his lips, and he pressed a kiss against your fingers.
You stayed with him as the music started up again, and you were happy to have him choose you as a dance partner again. You let him lead you around the room, just like before, and this time you felt much more relaxed. Whether it was from his presence or the dancing that was slowly exhausting you, you couldn't quite say.
Still, you noticed how everyone had stopped staring at you with such malice, how they no longer pointed and whispered in your direction.
And as the second dance ended, the chime of a bell sounded across the room. A majority of the people ignored it, but you found your head turning to find the clock. The mysterious man placed his hand under your chin, turning your head back to face him. To regain your focus.
You blinked slowly, quickly forgetting as to why you became distracted in the first place.
"May I see your face?" You asked, your fingers brushing across the intricate design of his mask.
He smirked and nodded his head. He raised his hand, his fingers tucking under the mask, and slowly he started to lift it from his face.
The bell chimed again. Your heart skipped a beat, your attention moving away from him, and this time your eyes landing on a clock. You stared at the hands for a moment longer, not being able to read the time, but knowing it was significant to you somehow.
His fingers gently guided your face back to face him again. Again, you quickly forgot what had made you so distracted to begin with.
Now, your eyes roamed the face of the man that had helped and danced with you. You smiled softly, finding him insanely attractive. You lifted your hand and placed it against his cheek, rubbing your thumb across his skin. He relaxed into your hand, his eyes sparkling in a way that you couldn't describe. And while this happened, you still couldn't help but feel as though this man was so familiar.
"Have we met before?" You asked him softly.
He brought your faces together, his lips brushing against yours.
"A thousand times," he whispered. "I always find you in every lifetime."
Your eyes fell half lidded. "What's your name?"
"You know my name."
Did you? How did you know this man? It made sense, with the familiarity you felt, but you searched every inch of your mind for his name, and yet you couldn't find it. Though, you couldn't help but think of King when you stared deep into his eyes.
The third and final chime of the bell drew your attention again. This time, your eyes fell upon a sand timer. You heart skipped a beat as recognition flashed over you.
Jareth couldn't pull your attention back to him this time. It was too late as you stepped away from his embrace. You kept your eyes glued to the sand timer, watching as each grain fell faster and faster.
"[Name]..." Jareth warned as you started to take steps towards the timer. He reached out and grabbed your hand, stopping you momentarily. "Stay."
You didn't dare turn back to face him, afraid that you would forget again if you did. "I can't," you replied, "I can't stay here..."
Jareth snaked his arms around your waist, holding you against his chest. "Yes you can," he cooed, "you have everything you'll ever need here. Why would you want to leave this all behind?"
You placed your hands on Jareth's, then gently removed them from your waist. He allowed it to happen, watching with a frown as you still refused to look at him and instead focused on the timer.
"Because it's not real."
Your eyes snapped open in shock. Your breaths tumbled out heavy. You sat up, alarmed and frightened as you looked frantically around the room.
You were curled up on Jareth's throne, alone. The room was empty, void of any sign of Jareth, Tobey or the Goblins. You stood up and wobbled to the window, where you peered outside to witness a commotion happening in the Goblin City.
Had Sarah made it? Had she navigated the Labyrinth successfully?
You spun around, filled with hope, eyes scanning the room for the sand timer that you had previously been so fixated on. Then, your stomach dropped in disbelief, realising that there was only 10 minutes left on the timer.

March 7: Another Excerpt
I came home from grocery shopping and immediately fell into some kind of black hole and when I crawled out it was really late and now I’m discombobulated. At least I’m not working tomorrow. Although I do want to get out of the house because Saturday is supposed to be rainy, and at this point I’m sort of afraid I’ll just sleep all day. At any rate, I’ll make something work. I still haven’t posted Ch4 of the Time Loop even though it is ready, so here’s an excerpt:
He knows exactly what Raven means.
All day, a past just like the present has been stretched drum-tight beneath his skin. Distorted images fast-flickering, like the end of a film reel, flashing lightning-quick and gone, echoing and warped—
He's been here before.
He's pulled out a chair a hundred times or more at tables that Octavia has set. She has always cared deeply about the arrangements of them. Even when she was little, and he'd sit by her bed and tell her stories to help her sleep, she'd constantly interrupt to ask after paltry details: who sat where, what they ate, the lighting, the weather, the decorations on the walls, the presence or absence centerpieces. In this way, she helped him hone his craft, helped him learn all the small particulars that matter when setting a scene. In this way, everything he's ever written has always been partially hers.
The arrangement of the dining room this evening is impeccable, and he knows that though she did not cook the food or set the table, the design is entirely hers. Eight place settings, perfectly equidistant from each other. Light from the chandelier glinting off of polished silverware and crystal wine glasses, and the soft, wavering light of the candles washing a rosy glow over the diners' skin. Outside, an early night has fallen, impenetrable and black, and the heavy sound of the rain falling acts as the only music, accompanied by still-distant thunder booming.
Octavia sits at the head of the table, splendid and noble. From Bellamy's vantage point, she is perfectly framed by the window behind her, accented by the dark paneling of the walls. He watches her and his fork feels heavy in his hand, a real silver fork weighty against his fingers, and his stomach heavy too, and sick.

Lunter fic: Artemis and the light.
*female Hunter fic*
Tumblr media
Artemis always hates these balls that her Uncle throws for all the coven heads. No one here respects her. So if they weren't too busy disrespecting her status as the golden guard, they were eyeing her like a piece of meat. Not only was she the golden guard, she was also the princess. Princess of the Boiling Isles. It's true what the other guards whisper and gossip about, "whoever wins the hand of the princess, will reap all the benefits and have the ear of the Emperor."
Certainly anyone who marries her would gain many privileges. She knows it's her duty to marry and produce an heir. As her Uncle constantly reminds her is what the Titan has planned for her. Still she can't help resent it all the same.
Princess Artemis leans against the wall, depressed at the thought, and ignoring the many hungry eyes of potential partners. The ball, lavish and beautiful, is in full swing with many a dancers and coven heads. In a masquerade and witchy way, most everyone is dressed in some form of both gold and white as members of the Emperor's coven. Artemis herself is decked out in a sliver like the moon ballgown. Her face hidden with a mask like her golden guard mask. But only covering the top half of her face. On a whim she put her light blonde hair into a low ponytail.
Couples dance in lock step in front of her. All in sync. The music being played by Raine and the other bard cover members was of course spectacular. It made everyone want to keep dancing, so they did. With dull magenta eyes, Artemis watches the dancers. Not really seeing anything, till a spot of color out of place catches her eye.
Tumblr media
It was a girl, a girl around her age, wearing a dress made from purple midnight and bedazzled with the stars. Her face was covered with a dark purple mask, adorned with strange golden symbols she's never seen before(but reminds her of the elemental magic she's been secretly reading about). The dress compliments her dark tan skin and her short brown curls. She moved through the crowd with a genuine smile and awe on her face. The one thing she notices about her right away, is her pierced ears are round. 'They're round!' thinks Artemis with wide magenta eyes. 'She must be the human everyone talks about,' thinks the princess. And without even realizing it, her body moves on its own, through the crowd, wanting to get close to said human girl. The human in question is twirling around. Taking everything in. Artemis can hear her muttering and gushing about everything.
Wetting her lips and her heart a nervous drum beat in her ears, Artemis speaks to her, "Hello human."
Luz Noceda doesn't plan things, she's more of the do what feels right and deal with consequences later type of gal. So when she heard there was going to be a fancy ball filled with magic and pretty outfits, she wanted to go.
Of course it being the emperor's covens castle, she knew it was a rather dangerous idea. So she came prepared, hidden under skirt of her dress were tons of ready made glyphs. All she needed to do was activate one and she'd be safe. As an added benefit, Eda was also outside, in case of a quick getaway was needed.
It took away a lot of the anxiety. Gave her plenty of room to enjoy the masquerade ball. She's unaware of how much she stands out. Especially to one certain princess. In room filled with gold, white, and silver. Her dress of purple midnight and stars makes her appears as of she's a dark amethyst jewel among diamonds and gold. She looks up to the ceiling her neck arching back to see everything. Her brown eyes widen behind her eyes as she sees the beautiful crystal chandelier. She twirls between people here and there. Unaware of the eyes on her, or when the person belonging to those eyes approaches her from behind. She hears a voice behind her.
"Hello human."
Luz turns around in panic at the word human, but before she starts grabbing at the glyphs hidden, she freezes.
In her line of sight she sees dark magenta eyes. Almost wine color. She has never seen such eyes like that before. She feels a strange chill come down her spine. As if she's having deja vu. If she's never seen eyes like them before, why do they feel so familiar?
(If you like this I'll write a part two!)

Style Meets Affordability: Top 5 Cheap Decorative Ceiling Lights You Need
Decorative ceiling lights are a great way to enhance the aesthetic appeal of any room. Whether you're looking to create a cozy atmosphere in your living room or add some charm to your bedroom, ceiling lights can completely transform the ambiance. The best part? You don’t have to spend a fortune to achieve a stylish look. There are plenty of affordable yet chic options that will brighten your space without breaking the bank. Let’s take a look at the top 5 cheap decorative ceiling lights you need to consider.
1. Flush Mount Lights
Flush mount lights are one of the most versatile and affordable options when it comes to decorative ceiling lights. These lights sit directly against the ceiling, making them ideal for rooms with low ceilings where hanging fixtures may not be practical. Flush mount lights come in various designs, from modern and minimalist to more traditional styles, giving you a wide range of choices to suit your home decor.
For a budget-friendly option, consider a simple frosted glass flush mount light with a metallic finish. It offers a sleek, clean look that works well in living rooms, hallways, or bedrooms. Despite their low price, these lights provide ample illumination while maintaining a sophisticated appearance.
2. Semi-Flush Mount Lights
If you’re looking for something with a little more personality than a flush mount light but still need something affordable, semi-flush mount lights are an excellent choice. These lights hang slightly down from the ceiling but not as far as pendant lights or chandeliers. This makes them perfect for spaces with moderate ceiling heights where you want to add a touch of elegance without sacrificing functionality.
Semi-flush mount lights often feature decorative elements like exposed bulbs, drum shades, or vintage-inspired designs. A great budget option is a semi-flush mount with a clear glass shade and an antique bronze finish, which gives a timeless look that fits in both modern and traditional interiors.
3. Pendant Lights
Pendant lights are an affordable way to make a bold style statement. These hanging lights come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and designs, making it easy to find one that fits your style and budget. Whether you prefer industrial, modern, or bohemian looks, there's a pendant light out there for you.
For a cost-effective option, consider a single-bulb pendant light with a metal or wireframe shade. These simple, stylish lights can be hung over dining tables, kitchen islands, or even in entryways. Their minimalistic design means they blend seamlessly into any space while still offering a decorative touch.
4. Chandeliers
Believe it or not, you can find affordable chandeliers that bring a touch of luxury to your home without the hefty price tag. While some high-end chandeliers can cost a small fortune, there are plenty of budget-friendly options available that still offer an elegant and eye-catching design.
Look for mini or faux crystal chandeliers if you’re working with a smaller space or a tighter budget. These affordable chandeliers come in modern and vintage designs and can be used in dining rooms, bedrooms, or even bathrooms for a sophisticated look.
5. LED Ceiling Panels
For a more contemporary take on ceiling lighting, LED ceiling panels are a sleek and energy-efficient option. These lights are perfect for those who want to combine function with style while keeping costs low. LED panels are ultra-thin, modern, and can be mounted directly to the ceiling, giving a streamlined appearance that’s perfect for kitchens, offices, or minimalist spaces.
Not only are LED ceiling panels affordable, but they also consume less energy than traditional lighting, which can save you money on your energy bills in the long run. They offer bright, consistent lighting while maintaining a clean, unobtrusive look.
Conclusion
When it comes to finding decorative ceiling lights that are both stylish and affordable, you have plenty of options to choose from. From flush mount and semi-flush mount lights to pendant lights, chandeliers, and LED ceiling panels, there’s a budget-friendly solution for every room in your home. These affordable ceiling lights prove that you don’t need to spend a fortune to create a well-lit, beautifully decorated space. By choosing the right lighting, you can transform your home’s ambiance and make it feel warm, inviting, and stylish—all while staying within your budget.

With their intricate designs and grand appearance, chandeliers have been used for centuries to illuminate and enhance the aesthetics of various spaces, from grand ballrooms to modern homes. Choosing the right chandelier can significantly impact the ambiance of your room, and finding the right store to purchase them from is just as important. This article will guide you through everything you need to know about chandelier lights, including where to buy them and tips for selecting the best one for your space.Discover the top 10 chandelier lights stores in Chennai, offering luxurious designs to elevate your home decor. Explore a wide range of modern and classic chandeliers at these top-rated shops.
Why Choose a Chandelier?
Chandeliers offer a unique charm and sophistication that can’t be achieved with regular lighting fixtures. Whether you are looking to make a bold statement in your living room, dining room, or foyer, chandeliers add a touch of grandeur. They come in various designs, from classic crystal chandeliers to modern minimalist versions, making it easier for anyone to find a style that matches their interior décor.
Key Benefits of Chandeliers:
Aesthetic Appeal: Chandeliers are works of art that enhance the overall look of any room.
Mood Setting: They create a soft, warm glow that can improve the ambiance of a space.
Variety of Styles: Whether you prefer vintage or contemporary designs, chandeliers offer a wide range of styles.
Types of Chandelier Lights
Before purchasing a chandelier, it’s crucial to understand the different types available so you can choose one that fits your space:
Crystal Chandeliers: These are the most popular and classic types of chandeliers. Made from glass or high-quality crystal, they reflect light beautifully and add a luxurious feel to any room. Perfect for formal dining rooms or grand entryways.
Candle Chandeliers: Resembling old-world charm, these chandeliers have multiple arms, each holding lights that mimic candles. They work well in rustic, vintage, or traditionally styled homes.
Drum Chandeliers: Drum chandeliers feature a cylindrical drum-like shade around the light. This design adds a contemporary feel, perfect for modern or minimalist homes.
Modern/Geometric Chandeliers: These chandeliers have sleek, geometric shapes and are perfect for modern and minimalist interiors. They often come in materials like metal and glass.
Tiered Chandeliers: For those looking for grandeur and drama, tiered chandeliers with multiple layers of lights make a bold statement, particularly in rooms with high ceilings.
How to Choose the Right Chandelier
When selecting a chandelier, several factors must be considered to ensure it fits well with your space and overall home design.
1. Room Size and Ceiling Height
The size of the chandelier should be proportional to the room. A small chandelier in a large room will look out of place, while an overly large chandelier in a small room will be overwhelming.
If you have high ceilings, consider a tiered chandelier to fill up the vertical space. For lower ceilings, opt for a more compact, flush-mount design.
2. Style and Design
Choose a chandelier that complements the overall style of your home. For traditional homes, crystal or candle chandeliers may be a good fit, while modern homes may benefit from geometric or drum chandeliers.
3. Lighting Needs
Determine how much light you need in the room. Some chandeliers are more decorative than functional, so you may need additional lighting if you want the chandelier to be your main light source.
4. Energy Efficiency
Modern chandeliers often use LED lights, which are energy-efficient and long-lasting. When buying, consider chandeliers that use LED bulbs to save on energy costs.
Top Stores to Buy Chandelier Lights
If you're in the market for a chandelier, here are some of the best places where you can shop for high-quality, stylish options:
1. Local Lighting Stores
Many local lighting stores offer a range of chandeliers, and you can see the products in person before buying. They often have experts who can guide you on installation and proper sizing.
2. Specialty Chandelier Boutiques
Some stores specialize specifically in chandeliers and other luxury lighting. These boutiques often have a curated collection of high-end options, from traditional to modern designs.
3. Online Retailers
Websites like Amazon, Wayfair, and Houzz have a large selection of chandeliers in various styles and price ranges. Online stores also offer customer reviews, making it easier to gauge the quality of the product before purchasing.
4. Home Improvement Stores
Retailers such as Home Depot, Lowe’s, and IKEA offer affordable options for chandeliers. They may not have the high-end luxury models, but they provide great value for homeowners on a budget.
5. Antique Shops
If you're looking for a vintage or unique piece, antique shops are excellent places to find chandeliers with a historical charm. Be prepared for some restoration work if you choose an older chandelier.

Tumblr media
Pendant light are one of the most versatile and popular lighting options available today. Whether you are looking to add a statement piece to your living room, kitchen, or dining area, or you need functional task lighting, pendant lights offer a solution that blends style with practicality. This guide explores everything you need to know about pendant lights, from their types and styles to installation tips and design ideas.
What are Pendant Lights?
Pendant lights are single light fixtures that hang from the ceiling, typically suspended by a cord, chain, or metal rod. They are often used in multiples and arranged in a straight line over kitchen islands, dining tables, or in clusters over staircases. Pendant lights can serve as both decorative focal points and functional lighting sources, making them a popular choice in a variety of interior design settings.
Types of Pendant Lights
Pendant lights come in many different shapes, sizes, and designs. Here are some of the most common types:
1. Mini Pendant Lights
Mini pendant lights are small, compact fixtures that are perfect for providing focused lighting in smaller spaces. They are often used in series over kitchen islands or as bedside lights.
2. Multi-Light Pendants
Multi-light pendants feature multiple light sources within a single fixture. They can range from two to several lights, making them ideal for larger spaces or as statement pieces.
3. Drum Pendant Lights
Drum pendant lights have a cylindrical shape that resembles a drum. They are often covered with fabric or other materials to diffuse the light, creating a soft, ambient glow.
4. Globe Pendant Lights
Globe pendant lights feature a spherical design that is both modern and classic. They are versatile and can fit into various design schemes, from mid-century modern to contemporary.
5. Linear Pendant Lights
Linear pendant lights are long, narrow fixtures that work well over dining tables or kitchen islands. They provide even illumination across a specific area, making them functional and stylish.
6. Industrial Pendant Lights
Inspired by old factories and warehouses, industrial pendant lights often feature metal finishes and exposed bulbs. They are perfect for adding a rustic or vintage touch to your space.
7. Chandeliers
While technically a type of pendant, chandeliers are more elaborate and often feature multiple tiers of lights. They are usually used as statement pieces in formal dining rooms or grand entryways.
Pendant Light Styles
The style of your pendant light can set the tone for the entire room. Here are some popular styles to consider:
1. Modern and Contemporary
Modern pendant lights feature clean lines, geometric shapes, and minimalist designs. They often use materials like metal, glass, and acrylic to create a sleek and sophisticated look.
2. Traditional
Traditional pendant lights often feature classic designs with intricate details. They might include elements like ornate scrollwork, crystal embellishments, and antique finishes.
3. Rustic and Farmhouse
Rustic pendant lights are characterized by natural materials, such as wood, metal, and glass. Farmhouse-style pendants often have a weathered or distressed finish, giving them a cozy, lived-in feel.
4. Industrial
Industrial-style pendant lights are inspired by the utilitarian lighting found in factories and warehouses. They often feature exposed bulbs, metal finishes, and a rugged, no-nonsense design.
5. Bohemian
Bohemian pendant lights are eclectic and often feature unique materials like rattan, wicker, or colorful glass. They add a touch of whimsy and artistic flair to any room.
Choosing the Right Pendant Light for Your Space
When selecting pendant lights, it’s essential to consider the room’s size, the height of the ceiling, and the overall design scheme. Here are some tips to help you make the right choice:
1. Room Size and Scale
The size of your pendant light should be proportional to the room and the space it’s illuminating. For smaller rooms, opt for mini pendants or compact fixtures. In larger spaces, you can go for bigger, bolder designs or use multiple pendants in a cluster or line.
2. Ceiling Height
Ceiling height plays a significant role in determining the length of the pendant’s suspension. For standard 8-foot ceilings, aim for a pendant that hangs 12–20 inches below the ceiling. For taller ceilings, the pendant can hang lower, but it should still be high enough to avoid obstructing views or movement.
3. Functionality
Consider the function of the pendant light. Is it for task lighting, ambient lighting, or decorative purposes? Task lighting, such as over a kitchen island, should be bright and focused, while ambient lighting should be softer and more diffused.
4. Design Cohesion
Your pendant light should complement the overall design of the room. If your décor is modern, opt for a sleek, minimalist pendant. For a more traditional space, a classic or ornate pendant might be the better choice.
Installation Tips for Pendant Lights
Installing pendant lights can be a DIY project, but there are some essential steps and considerations:
1. Determine the Hanging Height
The standard height for pendant lights above a kitchen island or dining table is 30–36 inches from the tabletop. For open areas, the bottom of the pendant should be 60–72 inches from the floor.
2. Spacing Between Multiple Pendants
If you’re hanging multiple pendants in a row, space them evenly, typically 24–30 inches apart. This ensures balanced lighting and a cohesive look.
3. Consider a Dimmer Switch
Adding a dimmer switch gives you control over the light intensity, allowing you to create different moods and atmospheres in the room.
4. Safety First
Always turn off the power at the circuit breaker before beginning any installation. If you’re unsure about wiring or the installation process, it’s best to consult a licensed electrician.
Design Ideas and Inspiration
Pendant lights can dramatically change the look and feel of a space. Here are some design ideas to inspire you:
1. Kitchen Islands
Hang a series of mini pendant lights over your kitchen island to provide focused task lighting and add a stylish touch to the room.
2. Dining Tables
A linear pendant light or a cluster of pendants above a dining table creates a cozy and intimate dining experience. Choose a style that complements your dining room décor.
3. Entryways
Make a grand statement in your entryway with a large pendant or chandelier. This sets the tone for the rest of your home and adds a touch of elegance.
4. Living Rooms
In the living room, consider using a statement pendant light to create a focal point. Whether it’s a modern globe light or a rustic chandelier, it can enhance the room’s design.
5. Bedrooms
Pendant lights can replace traditional bedside lamps, freeing up space on your nightstand. Choose a soft, ambient light to create a relaxing atmosphere.
Maintenance and Care
To keep your pendant lights looking their best, regular maintenance is essential:
1. Cleaning
Dust your pendant lights regularly to prevent the buildup of dirt and grime. For glass fixtures, use a glass cleaner to keep them sparkling. For metal fixtures, a damp cloth should suffice.
2. Bulb Replacement
Ensure that the bulbs are replaced as needed. If your pendant light uses specialty bulbs, keep a few on hand to avoid scrambling for replacements.
3. Inspecting the Fixture
Periodically check the fixture for any signs of wear or damage. Ensure that the suspension cords or chains are secure and that the light fixture is stable.
Conclusion
Pendant lights are an excellent choice for adding both style and functionality to any room in your home. With so many types, styles, and options available, there is a pendant light for every space and design preference. Whether you’re looking to create a warm and inviting atmosphere in your dining room or need practical task lighting in your kitchen, pendant lights offer a versatile and stylish solution.

Maks leaned back in his high-backed leather chair, his fingers drumming a steady rhythm on the polished mahogany desk. The dim light from the crystal chandelier cast long shadows across his office, creating an ambiance of both elegance and intimidation. His gaze was fixed on the newcomer before him, a recent arrival to the shadowed realm of “Nocturne,” who bore an air of both urgency and entitlement.
Tumblr media
“How is it,” Maks began, his voice smooth yet tinged with irritation, “that you’ve barely set foot in my establishment and you’re already giving me a headache? You cannot run back to me every time an issue arises—I am not your personal pit bull— I have feelings too... "

Choosing the Perfect Chandelier for Your Space
Chandeliers have long transcended their purely functional purpose of illumination. They are dazzling focal points, adding a touch of elegance, drama, or personality to any room. From the timeless elegance of crystal to the sleek lines of modern designs, there's a chandelier to suit every taste and style.
Tumblr media
This guide explores some of the most popular chandelier styles, helping you find the perfect piece to illuminate your home:
Timeless Elegance: Classic Chandeliers
Classic chandeliers evoke a sense of grandeur and sophistication. Often featuring cascading crystals, intricate metalwork, and elegant candle-shaped bulbs, these Chandeliers are ideal for formal dining rooms, grand foyers, and living areas with high ceilings.
Crystal Chandeliers: The quintessential classic, crystal chandeliers are synonymous with luxury. The way light interacts with the crystals creates a dazzling spectacle, adding a touch of glamour to any space. Opt for clear crystals for a timeless look, or explore colored crystals to introduce a pop of personality.
Empire Chandeliers: Characterized by their tiered structure and an emphasis on verticality, Empire chandeliers are inspired by the grandeur of the Napoleonic era. These chandeliers are perfect for high-ceilinged spaces and add a touch of formality.
French Chandeliers: Known for their ornate details and delicate arms, French chandeliers exude a romantic charm. Featuring intricate crystal swags, floral motifs, and scrolled arms, these chandeliers are perfect for creating a feeling of elegance and intimacy.
2. Modern Marvels: Modern Chandeliers
Modern chandeliers take a bold approach to lighting. Often featuring clean lines, unexpected materials, and unique shapes, they add a touch of contemporary flair to any space.
Sputnik Chandeliers: Inspired by the space age, Sputnik chandeliers feature a central sphere with arms radiating outwards like the spokes of a wheel. These Modern Chandeliers can be surprisingly versatile, with options ranging from minimalist designs in chrome to more dramatic pieces with cascading crystals.
Cluster Chandeliers: Cluster chandeliers are a group of individual pendants suspended from a single ceiling plate. This style offers a lot of flexibility, allowing you to customize the size, shape, and material of the pendants to suit your taste and space. They are perfect for adding a touch of modern industrial chic to a kitchen or creating a dramatic statement piece in a living room.
Drum Chandeliers: Drum chandeliers offer a modern take on the traditional lantern style. Featuring a closed shade made from fabric, metal, or glass, they provide a warm and inviting glow while adding a touch of contemporary sophistication.
3. Industrial Edge: Industrial Style Chandeliers
Industrial style chandeliers bring a touch of raw, urban aesthetic to your home. Often featuring exposed bulbs, metal frames, and reclaimed materials, these chandeliers are perfect for adding a touch of edge and character to lofts, kitchens, and open-plan living areas.
Metal Cage Chandeliers: Featuring a simple metal cage with exposed bulbs, these chandeliers offer a raw, industrial look. Choose from a variety of finishes, such as black, brass, or copper, to complement your existing décor.
Pipe Chandeliers: Repurposed pipes are transformed into unique and eye-catching chandeliers. These chandeliers offer an industrial aesthetic that can be softened with Edison bulbs or vintage-style shades.
Gear Chandeliers: Perfect for adding a touch of industrial whimsy, gear chandeliers incorporate gears and cogs into their design. These chandeliers are a great conversation starter and add a unique focal point to your home.
Choosing the Right Chandelier: Beyond Style
While style is a crucial factor, consider these additional elements when choosing a chandelier:
Size: Ensure your chandelier is proportional to the size of the room. A large chandelier can overwhelm a small space, while a small chandelier can get lost in a grand room.
Ceiling Height: Chandeliers with long drops are best suited for rooms with high ceilings. For lower ceilings, consider flush-mounted or semi-flush mounted options.
Light Output: Think about how much light you need in the space. Crystal chandeliers tend to cast a softer, more diffused light, while modern styles with exposed bulbs provide a brighter light.
Conclusion
Chandeliers are more than just a source of light; they are a statement piece that sets the tone for your entire space. By considering your style, space limitations, and lighting needs, you can find the perfect chandelier that will illuminate your home and elevate its charm.
